I usually drive to the gathering but this year I'm flying. Is there any shuttle service that'll take you to the grounds from any of the nearby airports?

As far as I know, no. The airports aren't even all that close, not sure how far away as I always drive. I looked into this a few years ago and you can fly in and rent a car from a service in the airport. The reason I didn't do this is it seemed like a hassle to me, it broke down to costing just about the same to just drive there and you avoid flying and dealing with hassles from rent a car companies. From what I can tell, none of the local companies want anything to do with going to the gathering, I don't even think they have taxi's there. Maybe some things have changed but it's the middle of nowhere dude, I doubt it.

Carpool with some peeps if you got to. Throw up some gas money and get your own shit and you should be fine.

Something else to think about…if you fly into Nashville, there is a Grayline casino bus that goes to Harrah's Metropolis everyday for $8 round trip. I have no idea how it would work if you needed to return on a different day that when you arrived, but it might be worth calling them to ask. That will get you within about an hour of Hog Rock. Plus you get a free meal and free play credits in the casino :-)

EDIT: Absolutely everything I try, I'm never able to post links here. Just take the spaces out of this URL.

I remember when I drove out there using mapquest directions. They literally had me drive through a cornfield which apparently was a legit road in wherever the bumblefuck I was...

in 08, on the way out, i decided to take a 'side road', and perhaps evade the checkpoint that i was pretty sure was waiting for us.  after a couple minutes, a cop appears, and tails us for, oh, twenty minutes or so.  after he turns around, the others in the car were saying that the road we we are on goes nowhere, and convinced me to turn around.  i figured, 'how bad could it be?  were going west, if nothin else, sooner or later, were gonna hit the river.'

but, we turned around, backtracked the whole way, got into the now growing flow of leaving juggalos, and came just short of being picked off at the checkpoint.  the cop was sweatin me, as the driver, but it was the others that were dirty.  if they had only known.

ive never heard a story about mapquest that didnt include a missing road, an impossible turn, or an unnecessary side trip through nowhere.

  awfully paranoid, arent you?
