That was dope, thanks. It’s been a while since I’ve watched a Gathering video.
There needs to be a manual or something though for anybody playing the Gathering for the first time. Chapter 1: The “fa-muh-lee” chant is something the Juggalos do at the end of your set to show they respect and accept you. Don’t join in, and never ever start a “fa-muh-lee” chant yourself, that just shows you don’t understand what’s going on. If you feel like you need to do something to show you fit in (which you don’t but whatever) a whoop whoop or two is completely acceptable.

they really do give the outsiders lil pep talks that include tidbits just like that.
sometimes helps, sometimes hinders.
and id say about half of the outsiders do the ‘family!’ thing.
and whether they understand it or not, whether they were coached to say it or not, i still roll my eyes.
you know, juggalos are by far the most fascinating exercise in groupthink that i have ever encountered.
awfully paranoid, arent you?

I totally agree, that shit fascinates me. On one hand the whole culture is about individualism, not fitting in, being accepted for who you are. And while OK it couldn’t ever really be 100% that way, the individualism thing is absolutely not bullshit. Juggalos are really accepting of people who are doing their own thing, way more so than other kinds of people. And even here you see many Juggalos who feel very free to disagree with each other, totally individualistic. At the same time the conformity in the Juggalo world is pretty crazy. EVERYBODY’s reppin the hatchet, EVERYBODY’s got joker’s card tattoos, it’s nuts.
I myself have a powerful aversion to joining anything. Even when I move to a new place and make friends, I can’t join an existiing group I have to get in with a new one. Which is maybe why I find myself kinda joining the Juggalos from afar, or something. I guarantee I listen to as much ICP and get as geeked about it as just about anyone else here… but I’ve still never hung out with JUggalos, never even had more than a 30 second conversation with a Juggalo. I’m sure thatll change one day.

Personally i’m hoping this opens the door for more EDM at gotj… I absolutely hate these guys music, tho they put on an amazing show.. “Trap” is like the “dumb nigga rap” (lilwayne) of the edm world.. I would love to see someone like Datsik who incorporates old school hip hop like method man, krs one, and has even done a track with gotj veteran DJ Paul attend. Even Excision would certainly fit in to the gathering with his super Heavy mix of electronica and metal.

Not familiar at all with these guys, and after seeing the interview i am even less inclined to check them out
To me, personally, and this is just 100% personal opinion, EDM is the lowest form of “music”. It requires no performing of vocals, no writing of lyrics, no playing of instruments, all you do is take sounds and vocals other people have created and put together in a most times noisy and obnoxious mismash. To me there is absolutely no artistry to what EDM “Artists” do
