I think Syracuse will do well, Indiana I think will get beat soon though. I hate Duke and Michigan and they're both right up there. BC is my team and i'd take your Kentucky team anyday over my BC team right now. You UK fans are nuts for your basketball, how you guys taking this year? Just wondering, know it's a big deal down your way, Louisville must be big too. Anyways, reason I'm so curious is I live right near Boston, and we have more than our fair share of fanatical sports fans. When the Red Sox collapsed last year they put a cop on a few bridges just to make sure people didn't jump. Shit was ridiculous. I love my teams too but I'm not about to jump off a fuckin bridge after a bad year, you feel me? Just wondering if shit gets crazy like that around your way.

I'm really not kidding about that bridge thing either, there's a few bridges in Boston that around Thanksgiving and Christmas they'll put a cop on to either discourage the idea of suicide by just being there or talking them down. It's essentially pointless, all you have to do is pull over to sidethen climb over and jump. Takes 10 seconds. What's the cop gonna do, pull out his gun and threaten to shoot you if you try to commit suicide? Anyways, out of nowhere they were back on the bridges at the end of summer. Either Memorial Day is a high suicide risk or it was the Red Sox. I'm guessing that it was the Red Sox. They never announced it in the paper but it became a joke, it was the only reason that made sense.

I believe it man. People take their sports a little too far. There were fucking riots in lexington last year after we won it. People flipping cars and burning furniture. shit was fucking nuts. Im not that fanatical about it myself its just a game. But yeah UofK is like the yankees and the cowboys. you either love em or hate em. Louisville is gonna be a contender this year imo. Got that experience that we lack. You know as a uk fan I gotta hate duke but they are fucking beastly like always. I haven't got to watch indiana but from what I hear they are overated a bit. Syracuse is another contender id have to agree with that

I remember seeing that shit, it was on the news up here. I've never understood why people flip over cars and burn shit that doesn't belong to them to celebrate a sports victory. We have people that do that up here too. Bad shit happens during those riots, some people even die. No shit. I stay home and drink and burn weed, fuck that shit.

GEORGETOWN SINCE I WAS A PUP!!!

I've always been down with the Hoyas and I'm planning a trip to DC right now for a game.

This is just a lucky bonus for me, but I'm even more excited to hit up Georgetown so I can see the infamous Exorcist house and steps.

Claps hands

Lucky ass!  Even though we (UK) lost!  I agree that we will most likely not win it this year but they are improving and to have only 1 (Whiltjer) player that actually played regularly return I think we ain't doing too bad.  Harrow's gotta get that assist to turnover ratio in check.

What we need to do is get rid of caulie stein. A buddy and I were gonna set up a petition on whitehouse.gov to get him taken out back and shot. Dude is a choke artist. You watch that Texas A&M game last night? I almost had a fucking stroke, but we beat em in OT.

You from kentucky?

With Willie you have to remember that in terms of basketball age he's a pup still both in age and experience.  Entering HS he was 6-6 and thought about abandoning basketball until a teammate convinced him that they had a chance to win state and because he had designs on playing QB but when he grew to 7 foot they moved him to WR where he was the number one receiver in Kansas.  Almost quit football his senior year when UK came calling for fear of injury but remained and won all state first team top 11 honors.  He eventually accepted his body type and abandoned football because there are more 7 footers in basketball than football.  Enough back story.  The kid has heart and with that sudden jump in size a few awkwardness issues are expected.  Also, Noel being there hampers his time allotment.  He has mad skills and with time he will be a tremendous player.  There have been times with him and Noel on the floor simultaneously where they have been unstoppable.  I think he will stay at least another year and he really needs it to build his basketball knowledge and physical stature.  I'm glad he's back though and no I was unable to catch the game because I fucked up when we got cable and didn't get a box for my TV but I did follow it on game tracker online.  And yeah I hear ya on the stroke, I was livid when we squandered that lead.  I really hope they learn to play both halves with an aggressive nature.  I used to love the old Arkansas coach Nolan Richardson's adage of 40 minutes of hell.  Of course we can't play that style with this team but they seem to have a let down in the 2nd half almost every game and have been extremely lucky to have won several games.  We still have a ways to go but that's expected when you lose what we did.  Not only do they have to learn a system but they have to learn how to recognize each other's attributes.  I will stop now because I really could go on forever.  LOL!  Yeah, I'm from the South West side of Louisville in Valley Station.  You?

You're right man. I don't seriously want the dude shot. He has just helped blow alot of leads throughout the season. Games that we shouldn't have lost. I understand that it's not all him. He does have potential to be a great player, hell they all do. Like you said most of our team are just pups straight outta high school. My buddy made an interesting observation. He half hopes that we don't make the tournament this year so that we can have more players returning. I guess that's the risk you take with the "one and done" approach that cal has.

He has shown that it can work. Last years team was a different beast man. They were like a single organism on the court. They complimented each other very well. Something is just not meshing this year.  If we don't make it in the tournament hopefully at least louisville can win it. As  long as Duke or Indiana doesn't win it i'll be happy....

Im from bullitt county originally but I've been livin' out in fern creek for the last 4 years

There's no one stepping up as a leader and we have no true point guard.  Harrow's assist to turnover ratio is deplorable and Goodwin is too wild, although I absolutely wish they all had Archie's aggressiveness.  Even if we don't make the tourney I'd say Noel is gone for sure as well as Poythress and maybe Goodwin too.  It'd be nice if they all stayed but that's useless optimism and will most likely not happen.  We have the number one recruiting class coming in again and if just a few of this years team stays then we WILL win #9 next year.  Concerning the current season, there is a lot left in it to improve and pending a complete meltdown we will make the tourney.  All be it a low seed most likely but I think we will be in.  Just hope they do what's necessary to improve and give us a shot at a repeat this year.  What part of KY you from?

Cauley-Stein got off today vs Auburn.  Ugly game but we pulled through.  Now I hope like hell we show up with all A game Tuesday night @ Florida!  Hopefully we can take advantage of their injuries and losing Yeguete.  Gonna be a tough game!

My mom lives in Fern Creek right behind the Kroger by the Snyder.

Bro we are gonna have to bring that A game to florida. I'm bettin' they'll drop after the loss on tuesday, but they are still the team to beat in the SEC. I think indiana lost as well this week. Alot of upsets by unranked teams goin' on right now. I'm pretty confident we are gonna make the tournament now...Just have to hold our breath and see

Yes we will!  Seems like the #1 spot is cursed this year and there is a ton of diversity this season.  I'd say the title is anyone's and it will be very interesting to see who's playing well come tourney time.  What about that UL/ND 5 OT game.  Didn't get to catch it myself because I don't have cable but wow.  I did, however, have to rub it in faces of the UL fans I'm friends with who said when UK lost to them that ND was a weak opponent.  LOL!  Yeah FL lost to Ark and I'd say they are the tops in the conference but this season has proven anyone can win at anytime.  I always thought coach Cal would have them ready come time and it's looking like although we still have miles to go they are improving and look to have what it takes to make it.  We are only one game back of FL right now for the SEC lead and have a few tough ass games remaining that should tell if we are a contender or not.  Here's our remaining schedule.  @#2FLA, @TENN, vsVAN, vs#21MIZZ, vsMSST, @ARK, @UGA, vs#2FL.  Then the SEC tourney of course.  22-9 worst case pending we lose to FL twice and Mizzou, those being the ranked teams and win out against the unranked.  I'd say of those latter one's Ark and Georgia will be the toughest being that their both on the road and they are both 500 or better in conference currently and both places are super tough to play at.  Of course both those games are not until March and a lot can happen and looking at their remaining games Ark has the tougher remaining schedule.  Next Sat. we play @ Tenn and that's always tough for us with the pure hate they have for us.  Hopefully we do much better and win at least the two home games vs FL and Mizzou.

Goodwin and Poythress have been loose with the ball but I've seen improvement in both but they are young and will be prone to make mistakes. We have 5 players avg double figures with Mays @ 9.3/gm. And Polson has been giving some serious spark as of late and as long as he continues he's looking like the catalyst for the other's to up their game. FT's were greatly improved this last game @68.4% up from the season avg of 64.8% but could always be better and must to have a shot at repeating. 3PT is where I find the most telling problem with Goodwin 11-43 .256, Harrow 15-51 .294, Polson 3-13 .231 being the worst of the bunch. If Harrow would just play a true point and pass the ball he'd improve his assists and other's opportunities in the process. Poythress doesn't take many but @ 10-23 .435 maybe he should open it up a little, Wiltjer 48-118 .407, Mays 44-116 .379,and with almost no playing time 54 min in 13 games total Hood 4-6 .667. Not sure why Hood isn't playing more and not being privy to practices there's no telling but obviously he's not fitting the system well or maybe it's the emergence of Polson that's keeping his time limited. Hood played 2 minutes against South Carolina with 2 points and 8 minutes with 3 rebounds and 1 foul @ Ole Miss. Not sure if the ACL tear from last year has plagued him still but he has the ability to light it up and in high school he owned it on the way to claiming KY's 2009 Mr. Basketball and I was really excited by his signing and looking forward to what I thought would be an excellent compliment if not key addition to the talented classes Cal brings in.  I wish Harrow and Mays would step up and be the leaders this team so desperately needs as well as Harrow being the true point guard it must have. For Goodwin to relax enough to be in control yet show that unrelenting fire he possesses as well as the rest of the team to display that same aggressiveness the entire 40 minutes. Poythress to pass the ball more to his teammates instead of the opposition would be great and to pick and choose better with his defense so to lower the amount of fouls he gets. He almost fouls out of every game. Can't complain about his aggressiveness though he hits the boards and tries to pick up off switches and with time and experience he will and has learned tremendously . Plus, he trails Goodwin by 1.9 pts/gm for team scoring leader. My main complaint on offense is that at times they look great working the plays then others they look like a pick up game at the KY school for the blind and completely negate the play and go one on one.  They will have plenty of time next year in the NBA to showboat but for right now it's a team game and that is the biggest difference in this year and last year's teams. Starting to show signs of getting this as of late though.  Holy shit, sorry man, I got way carried away here. LOL! But that's always how I am with basketball in general and especially when it comes to my Cats!  Thoughts or insights?  PLUS!  Have you noticed our team stats rankings?  Here they are as of yesterday's win vs Auburn: Category Amt. Rank Points 76.0 27, Rebounds 39.2 23, Assists 14.7 64, FG% offense .488 11, Blocks 7.65 2, Steals 6.39 226, Turnovers 13.22 304.  Minus the Steals and Turnovers I'd say not bad considering we are not ranked.  I just wish we'd get that Assists per game up and our guards improve their assist to turnover ratio.  Our defensive FG% is 37.8 which is under 40% and what you'd want 3PT% 30.5  while we are shooting 36.2  great on a defensive standpoint and could be better on our end.  I say we take too many but with the size we have who can blame us and we have still taken fewer attempts and made more than opponents.  Here's a link to our complete stats as of Feb. 9: http://espn.go.com/mens-colleg.....y-wildcats  not sure why my link isn't working and fuck me this took me 20 edits to fix structure.  WTFF?

You're definitely a man who knows his basketball.... I'd agree with each of the assessments you've made but my biggest problem is our defense...I gotta admit that I haven't watched all the games this year, because I have to go to someones house to watch it, but every game I watch our turnover rate is fucking ridiculous. The biggest problem is it seems like we get confused at times. Last night against florida was a good example. A lot of our guys just don't pick up their assignments when they are supposed to. They got a lot of open threes last night because of it

What killed it was the turnovers though...Have you noticed that we are always losing to teams who put on full court pressure pretty much the whole game? We can't handle it, our guys lose their cool and make mistakes. If we played like we did last night, there is no way we are gonna make a run this year. There is still time though so maybe they will get things together.

Hey at least we were ranked for a week....cry

Yeah I've been harping on the TO's all year.  It's a sad day in the bluegrass state with Noel out for the season.  FUCK!  Maybe the NIT is where we're headed.  :(  As sad as I am about the loss I'm just happy for him that it's not a career ender.  Kid's got way too much talent!  Plus, Coach Cal posted that Noel was insured so even if it were over permanently he'd be taken care of.  Didn't know they did that for college players.

*bump* Any predictions for march madness this year? I'm leaning towards Miami right now and god forbid maybe Duke. There has been so many fucking upsets this year it's kinda hard to pick...Thoughts?
