Part of me wishes they would chill with trying to b user sex appeal while also talking about rape and abuse but the video is pretty cool. Nothing too outrageous though.
I woulda liked to have had Tommy be the second video because I think it goes harder.
Anyway. Here. Thoughts?

beat’s pretty dope.. otis make that?? would rather hear him or icp over it.. “every time he hits me in my eye” is a hilarious 2nd bar to a chorus, haha.. eh.. the tracks decent, she has a nice flow (still super whitey peyton-ish) and the chorus is above average.. lyrics/story’s pretty bland tho.. like the song “broken” this doesnt make we want to listen to the ep, except maybe for the beats.. but i think its better and a step in the right direction.. the video’s generally pretty good as well.. 3.5/5

I like it. Beat is good, her flow is decent and I think the subject matter is interesting. I just don’t like the chorus. But that’s how I generally felt when I listened to the Broken EP. I hate every single chorus on there. The rest of it kinda grew on me – i.e. didn’t like it in the beginning, now I pretty much do.
I do agree that it’s kinda concerning that they sexualize her while talking about sexual abuse, though.
The phonenumbers to these hotlines at the end seemed a little cheesy to me. But that might just be my feeling because I was never in that type of situation. Who knows, maybe it’ll help someone.

aint plannin on watchin it anytime soon, so didnt know about this.
i dont think its cheesy. if you actually give a shit about somethin, puttin up a link or a phone number shows it. its about the easiest thing you can do. maybe the least you can do.
but its doin somethin, as opposed to the pure nothin that most people do.
shit, most people wouldnt publicize a charitable cause without gettin paid. bet that.
awfully paranoid, arent you?

Yea, that’s why I said that my gut-reaction was probably due to me never experiencing stuff like that. I just feel like when real life charity and art gets combined it often seems insincere and a little pretentious. Like, “sick kidz” was a horrible song but a good cause. Or the NFL making their players put on pink jerseys for breast cancer awareness seems like they are just trying to sell merch.
I disagree that putting up a link or a phone number shows that you actually give a shit about something. That’s pretty naive to believe. It could just be about improving your own public image, good PR. In this instance, though, I do think that Blahzay actually gives a shit. And weather someone truly cares or not might be secondary anyways, as long as it helps someone else.
My first reaction to charity in art usually is that it’s just being used as a tool, though. But I fully realize that that is just a gut reaction at this point and that results should be put over perception and in this particular case it actually didn’t even hurt the art as it was after the video, etc. Gut reaction was still there, though.

true. but even if slightly disingenuous, still an improvement over nothin.
the nfl is gigantic. the littlest moves they make are huge. pink month is a very itty bitty thing, to the enterprise. merch or no merch. but it has an audience that is unrivaled, in america.

thats not what i said at all. i said if you believe, this shows.
if you are frontin, different game entirely. just like anybody who is frontin about anything.

in essence.

i would probably have to use up a large bit of screen to fully explain it, but one of my ‘expressions’, as it were [some say scruffyisms, i dont mind it], is that charity is charity.
meanin, in a nutshell, that both the giver and the receiver need to accept it for what it is. and do right.

Hope this role model stuff Psy is slinging ends soon. Have the same thoughts about Blahzay’s first album as before… “If her next release still deals with her helpless persecution and is named something like “Not Without My Faygo” or “Clown Cumdumpster” maybe she should sell herself to Lifetime TV and call it a day.”
Here’s to brighter colors:

This is really not important and will make me look like a nitpicker, but since that is what I am, I am still gonna dwell on it: logically you are correct, my reply didn’t accurately reflect what you had said. But I still think it is naive. I think it is pretty difficult (and probably, at least in part, why I developed this gut reaction) to differentiate between when someone is posting something he sincerely believes in and when someone is just listening to their PR people. That’s why I think a lot of the time, eventhough someone actually gives a shit, it does not show that he does just because he posted a couple of links or phonenumbers.

Yeah, I’m really starting to take notice of this. It’s preachy and annoying. What’s with this trying to be family friendly shit about? That hasn’t really worked out for WWE, it won’t work for PSY.

by all means. as long as i may respond in kind.
and we dont go on about it for more than a few posts. diminishing returns.

okay.
but im just lookin at it from the one persons point of view: the artist. not the audiences second-guessing.
that i, as the hypothetical artist, am genuine and do care was a given. whether or not anybody believes me is on them.

Family friendly? Cuz they put up support hotlines? Did you miss her being beaten and the attempt at sexual assault? Or dudes Head blown open?

Okay, so I shut my mouth, and finally watched the video. Its….pretty good actually. As a matter of fact, the video seemed to make the song better for me. Aw shit. Is Blahzay growing on me? Now I have to eat crow for all that negative shit I’ve said.
