I’m trying to book my hotel for the march soon. Can anyone recommend a not super expensive hotel close to where the march or amphitheatre will be?
the march will be near all the major landmarks. I expect most of the hotels will be expensive.

It depends on what you want. I can send you to a crack shack on route one thatll be cheap as fuck, all the way to the ritz. Honestly youll be right as rain at the Springfield Motel 6 its smack in the middle between the concert and the city center. There is no way to be close to both as Jiffy Lube Live is about 40 min outside town in the boonies. There are also a grip of Hotels around Fair Lakes that will have varying costs but are adjacent to I 66 which will take you to both the concert and the city

If you want to stay walking distance from the march, you’ll be paying $150/night at the absolute minimum and probably a lot more. There’s no reason to book now, but if that’s what you want to do it is a good idea to book 4-5 months out to get a better deal. There’s no real point in trying to give recommendations, just look at the prices and the ratings on hotels.com or tripadvisor, that’s better information than you’ll get from asking anyone who lives here.
If you don’t want to pay that much, an alternative is to stay somewhere in the Virginia suburbs that’s on a Metro (subway) line. It’s very easy to take the Metro back and forth from downtown, and you can find very reasonably priced Motel 6’s and the like out there a 30-40 minute train ride away. http://www.wmata.com is the website for the Metro, just look at a map, and make sure you can walk from the hotel to a Metro station.
The problem is that like Brendan says Jiffy Lube Live is in a different place altogether. It’s an hour out of DC and you can’t take the Metro there, the best you can do is about a $60 cab ride away. You pretty much have to either do that or rent a car. But I will say this- if the march does happen and you do make it, I will promise you right now that I will give you a ride to Jiffy Lube Live and get you back to your hotel. That offer is also good for the first four people who want to take me up on it.

funny thing about this thread… a hotel never occurred to me, before now.last time i was in dc, the place was covered in homeless. figure if they can hack a weekend on the dc streets, so can i.
but a hotel would probably be better than that.
I can’t say for sure what the situation is going to be in terms of belligerent wives but absolutely for sure if you’re looking at sleeping on a bench as the alternative, no way you’re NOT staying at my place. Hopefully you can stay even if you were thinking of a hotel, I would have to win trial by combat to make that happen in which I’m a significant underdog
EDIT: Forgot a rather significant NOT

that do change the message a touch, dont it?
made sense to me, though. if i was a belligerent wife, i would be reticent to bring a dude like me into my house at all. ‘hey honey, this is one of the loons i hung out with at the gathering… he was gonna go mix it up with the bums, but im installin him here, instead. isnt that great…?’
for the record, i wasnt thinkin id be sleepin on a bench. i mean, i have an automobile, i can cruise all night lookin for good car camping.
anyway, combat will not be needed. appreciate the sentiment, though.
