First off…..I have never laughed out loud for legit as much as I have reading his book. his wording is as funny as any chris rock comedy show. all thru out the book he had me in stitches. I had no idea Violent J was so funny.
also, I have to say I have read alot of entertainers biographys and his is the most comprehensive story of any biography I have read. it is a big book…and he brings you thru ALL factions of his life and insane clown posse. he isnt afraid to tell you the good…about when he lost weight by jogging and walking and taking care of himself….to the bad…when he thought he was going literally insane because of his panic attacks….and bittersweet…such as when it was implied to him he would never have children because of all the medication he was on for his panic attacks. looking back, when I heard that he was going to have a baby and then another, I was like oh man…thats so awesome for him, especially him.
you also see despite all the crazy stuff that went on in his and shaggys life you really do see how he has a rock solid inner compass when it comes to a sense of good and evil. he isnt afraid to get deep into topics that are usually “iffy” for entertainers such as exspousing a belief in God. do you know how hard it is in this day and age to tell young people about God? he is more braver than any preacher…a preacher alot of times preaches to a choir essencially…people who already believe in God….what Violent J and shaggy did…was give a bunch of young kids who might not yet have formed an opinion….guidence on that subject.who do you think would reach kids like that? their parents?teachers? doubtful. they even said their whole concept of the dark carnival ….was about God..good and evil. very very brave and its not out of order to call them prophets of a sort.
He also tells us about the many nights they spend at kinko’s copys. he was proud to tell us that. there are alot of entertainers who would prefer to leave out that aspect of their early carreers. its great that violent j has no problems tell us about the hard work they put in doing simple things such as designeing flyers and albums.
the book feels epic….in that you feel as you keep reading this really long book that you have seen the whole scope of a persons rise to fame from the small beginnings to the top of the game.
if anyone hasnt read it yet I hope you do. ALSO……unlike most biographys who have a few pages of photos in the middle….violent J’s book has them all thru the book so many photos of this or that. it made for a far more page turning experience. you really come away admiring them because almost nothing is left out of their story. and you can see why they got as big as they did. …….now….if only mike e clark would write some kind of book about his adventures in the studio or more video uploads of them early in the studio!

One of the best books ever, agreed. You can’t put it down. Shit even my momma read it. She said that J has some helpful philosophies. I also laughed out loud. Only “Behind the Paint” and “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas” evoke that honest belly laughs. I feel it takes a highly unique individual to get one laughing through the written word alone. My copy is gone unfortunately. Psychopathic stuff, I swear it goes stolen more than anything else. If I had a nickel for every shirt or CD that got swiped… I’d have, shit, like a dollar and 25 cents

They’ve never been scared to tell the truth. Most people are or just can’t accept it. They probably would never had made the music they did,if they weren’t telling the truth about society and life. Just a bonus or me, that they keep it honest with themselves. like this book shows over, and over….
Another reason why these people talking shit about money issues don’t change my opinion about them.
