When “they don’t create music like this anymore”, I am glad. I don’t want the “music like that” from yesterday. I want something really new instead of new being just a reorganization of the sounds and calling it new.
To me, the guitar (electric or acoustic) does not sound soulful. It sounds antiquated.
I bet some had the same feeling the first time an instrument was added to words set to rhythm. Evolution is inevitable. For me i just wish it would slow down.
I dig a lot of the 80’s power ballads. The guitar to me is a key factor with these songs. They just WORK, and to me it makes it, what it is. I couldnt picture some of my favorites without having the guitar. I do agree with you as i cant get into blues which is largely guitar based, and many bands in the 70’s due to too much guitar. With them, to me the guitar is too overly used. Im more of a words in music guy and could care less about the background music. But sometimes its a perfect ratio. I cant see me getting into much faux music. In some cases it also makes stage presence more appealing. Imagine GWAR with just 1 guy singing in costume…
Not tryna dispute your beliefs as our musical tastes are different, just an outside opinion. Looking forward to meeting you and the mrs. In a week, Holy Shit!
Do you put two periods if mrs. Is at the end of a sentence? To hell with proper punctuation…

Only when you hear the instrument off an album
The true power of instruments are when they are played live and going with the vibes of the surrounding environment (not any specific song).
Example…
People are arguing around a campfire and someone starts to strum a mellow rhythm and alleviates the problems…because a human did that, instead of a song being put on, people feel more connected to eachother.
I can’t see ayahausca or peyote shamans performing their shit with just speakers and it providing the intended purpose of connecting to the earth
I can see that as being true.
But it doesn’t have to be a guitar, it could be something new. I tend to look at the numbers to see the trends. The numbers show the decline in interest in guitars. …
“In the past decade, electric guitar sales have plummeted, from about 1.5 million sold annually to just over 1 million. The two biggest companies, Gibson and Fender, are in debt, and a third, PRS Guitars, had to cut staff and expand production of cheaper guitars. In April, Moody’s downgraded Guitar Center, the largest chain retailer, as it faces $1.6 billion in debt.”
The downward trend that seems to be continuing at a faster pace suggests to me that something new will break through on the horizon to replace the dying guitar. Yes, it will always still be around but it’s dominance in music is ending.

So to answer your question you asked yourself, yes, you don’t “hear” the music…music is more than earholes and eyeballs, it’s about using senses not recognized by science…yet.
Music is alot like love, it’s just a feeling…and it fills the room from the floor to the ceiling. #Miracles

I understand. Yes, these are just my opinions due to my personal tastes and I have found that my opinion generally differs from the majority when it comes to music.

So wait, are a couple of you guys saying people shouldn’t be playing guitar at all? I can understand if you don’t personally like it or don’t think it should be included in rap, but, the fuck you talkin’ about? But anyway, I do agree that the style Mike P plays in for Ruby’s song is pretty wack. I like the rockin’ stuff he’s done such as “Fire” in Zug Izland and really dig the guitar tone in “Hell’s Forecast” and some others, so I don’t hate on Mike P. I know he has some weird affinity for that clean-tone country type of bullshit for whatever reason. I don’t like Ruby’s song but sounds like she had a fun time so, no harm there.
And overall Ruby seems like a pretty cool kid. So props to her for doing her thing and coming up with ideas like this. What’s with J all the sudden on this “I have no money” kick?
I said the opposite.
Good job on ruby’s song. But shit his guitar sucks everywhere else.
Also glad he used a cool bass line as the like focus.

I don’t get that kind of “feeling” from music. That may be why I tend to discount the parts of music that people say evokes “feeling”. The only feeling I get is due to my tympanic membrane vibrating due to changes air compression. I get no “magic” from it.
I suppose I should open my mind to the idea that the way I view music is not the way most people do.

Yes there’s a downward trend in sales…in anything that involves moving.
People have become lazy…to the point where drive thru’s have become a too much effort, or even going to the store…instead they have shit delivered. Cars don’t even come with spare tires or donuts anymore cuz people don’t know how to do that….and you expect someone to pick up an instrument and learn it, just for the fuck of it.
Looking at stats is always biased… Either the stats are biased, or your perception of the stats are biased…#HalfEmpty or #HalfFull… You make the call, gnome sayin!

Just cuz you can’t “see” it or “feel” it, doesn’t mean it exists….thats what science says, and I know you believe in science..
If your gonna believe in SOME things, you have to be open to ALL things.

Also…Are you telling me you don’t believe in love?
It’s just like music.
And if you didn’t believe in love, then why would you still be around your wife…or the juggalos….
seems like you do believe in things that can’t be felt or seen
Not saying that. Just saying, that for me, music is not like love.

Well, if you could just assume that everyone catches feelings over music and reacts because of it, then using the defense that a song made someone commit murder in court would hold up, new flash, it doesn’t.
I can vouch that you are wrong… It sucks…but you can’t blame JUST the music…but listening to the wrong music at the right time can help push you over the edge

You cant Physically show love to a panel of people or emotions for that matter, so how would one prove its existence?
Show me god then. Show me happiness or depression or anything. Not the reactions of the human body itself to them, But the chemical composition that IS them. You can’t.
No doubt music can influence you, but the individual is solely responsible for their actions, exonerating music from any liability.

Uhhh…
yes you can…it’s called dopamine, serotonin, and endorphins..those are literally the neurotransmitters of the human brain which are responsible for happiness. depression is caused by a lack of, or imbalance, in those neurotransmitters.
this isn’t some super new, cutting edge research either. we’ve(we, meaning society at large) have known about how happiness works for awhile now.

Rite, so if this was the case clinical depression would not exist.
It does. Even with treatment.
According to you, there is a pill that will make people not feel the loss of a family member, or un do heartbreak after a split with someone they love.
Science is not an exact.
Explain to me why you are you then.

except for the fact that dopamine and serotonin can’t be taken as a pill. they’d have to be injected directly into your brain.
Do you know why a lot of clinically depressed people turn to drugs? because those drugs *DO* change the way your brains neurotransmitters work and they can make you feel happy even if you are clinically depressed.
not everything can be taken in pill form. Just because you are too stupid to understand how it works doesn’t mean no one does.
