Figured I would write up a quick review of the show last night for anybody that might be interested.
JUST A HEADS UP THIS SHOW SOLD OUT BEFORE DOORS.
I figure most of the shows on this tour will sell out or be close to selling out during presale. The venue had a 600 capacity for the show. The venue posted online that they only had 50 tickets online at noon. When I got to there at 5PM they were letting people know that there was only 5 tickets left online and that no tickets would be available at the door. I saw a lot of people get left in the dust because they didn’t get their tickets in advance. There were a few lucky people that had smart phones and were able to scoop up those last few tickets but there must have been at least 20+ people that I saw turned down at the door, I’m sure there were tons more throughout the night that I didn’t see.
The tour is just YW & ICP with local support. Hopefully everybody has better locals than I had because they were both terrible.
There is a good amount of new merch, obviously 99% of it is Riddlebox swag. I copped a tour shirt (comes in black and purple) and decided I was set on everything else. I was hoping they would have a Riddlebox hat pin but there wasn’t any pins at all, that was a bummer.
VIP entry was supposed to be at 5PM but we didn’t get into the venue until 6PM and meet and greet started at 7PM. Met a few cool people that traveled from out of state to catch the show and we chatted it up and joked about how nice it was to be on “Joe’s time”. Once we got going, we were in the first group of 5 to meet the guys.
Talked to YW about what to expect from him and Bonez, said they are going to record the new AMB later this year, BD plans to release another EP later this year. He said that BD really likes the idea of just doing these smaller EPs and dropping tracks than doing a full album. Also, asked YW what he planned on playing and he listed off some stuff and said “…who know’s what I’ll cover tonight?”
I had J and Shaggy sign my copy of Behind the Paint and then we started talking about the audio book. I asked if it’d be anything like Jumpsteady’s “The Road”, YW chimed in and said the audiobook won’t have music behind it the entire time. There’s bits and pieces of music, but TONS of sound effects, so many that he had to say it twice, haha. Should be interesting. A
Also asked them about their solo stuff coming out and Shaggy said he didn’t want to front and said REALISTICALLY “F.T.F.O.M.F.” won’t be out until early next year. He said they are recording stuff on the road but with tour and The Gathering this summer he doesn’t see it getting done. J didn’t have much to say about “Karma Forest” he said he’s figuring it out but didn’t have a lot to say other than that and popped and couple starburst and chugged his Redbull.
YW played for about 40 minutes. He played a solid set, mostly stuff from “Slaughter” and Killjoy Club, some AMB and then closed with a cover I didn’t expect. Won’t ruin that, I thought it was a pretty cool and came outta left field. Definitely got the crowd going. The only thing I didn’t care for during YW’s set had nothing to do with him. There was this dude behind me that started freaking out when YW opened a bottle of water. This douche started yelling “YEAH FAYGO! GET ME!”. I shot him a dirty look and said some snarky shit about how this wasn’t ICP and that was just a bottle of water and he just looked at me confused and asked “This isn’t ICP?”
It was about 25 minutes from the end of YW’s set to ICP starting. They were in great form, J looked great, Shaggy was all over the place. The stage was small, only about 5 feet high. I was two people back from the barricade but those that were on it could reach out and give daps to the guys onstage. The ceiling on the stage had this small overhang and they would grab it and kinda lean in over the crowd, that was pretty awesome. After a few songs that overhang was DRIPPING and covered in confetti and feathers for the rest of the night. I snagged the arm off the redneck dummy they threw out during Chicken Huntin’, my girl went onstage during Lil’ Somethin’ Somethin’ and I was onstage swimming in root beer during the Faygo armageddon. Some asshole pulled the fire alarm about half way through I’m Coming Home but everybody just kept tossing faygo and dancing. It was a fucking blast.
Show was over, I was changed into dry clothes and headed back home by 11PM.
If you get the chance to see the show do it… TURN THE CRANK!

Dope review. Wish they let on more about their solos, those are the projects I’ve been most excited for in recent memory. My guess is we’ll see one or the other earliest GOTJ ’17.
I’m going Sunday night to a 750 capacity venue. Hasn’t sold out yet, but I got my tickets months ago so no worries on my end.

Nice review!WTF though, the show was over by 11pm?
That’s hella early yo.
Yeah, with no other openers on this tour shit went fast. I didn’t mind. When I saw Twiztid a few weeks ago they weren’t finished until like 12:30am.

where’s the stage set? no v.i.p.s on stage 4 the faygo finale?
I posted a couple pictures of the stage, best I could/wanted to bother taking.
There was a finale, all the VIPs were onstage, I even mentioned it: “I was onstage swimming in root beer during the Faygo armageddon. Some asshole pulled the fire alarm about half way through I’m Coming Home but everybody just kept tossing faygo and dancing.”
Anyway, glad you all liked the review. Hope it puts a fire under the ass for anybody that was on the fence to attend a show.

@deathmetaljuggalo thanks for the review and pictures. I was on the fence about going but I just bought my ticket for the philly show. I was at the venue you just saw icp at once back in 2000 for Hellfest. It was supposed to be moved after being booted from 2 difference venues and they wouldn’t allow in there. They had police in riot gear show up and they found a spot somewhere else but that day was cancelled. Just a random bit of info there lol
As far as the 11 o clock end time of the show..that might be because of the city laws. I have gone to a lot of shows in Philly and they do a good job of ending the show by 11 for shows during the week. On the contrary, I have gone to shows at the Starland Ballroom in Central Jersey and didn’t get out till 1 am. More recently, I just went to the Tech N9ne show in Reading,PA and that didn’t get done till 1230. I think it just depends on the city ordinances and zoning and whether its a weekday or weekend. Some venues in the city might be in areas of a lot of residential buildings.

The band’s name rhymes with fool. That’s all you get… I’ll say it’s a fresh ass cover.
