Okay… so…
There seems to be a lack of respect/acknowledgement/engagement of DJs around here.
Let’s play a game!
I’ll give you some tracks and YOU (the “bedroom DJ set”) enjoy finding out how those tracks “go” together.
DJ shit.
If you don’t have the means… then this ain’t a game for you.
I personally pride myself on being able to “make” two disparate tracks flow seamlessly together or sound like a singular song.
I offer…!
Deejay Punk Roc – Busted Speaker vs. @sewerside ‘s INNOSINNER…
One track is 129bpm in 4A
The other track is 104bpm in 10A
There’s a funny story as to how I came to this combination but ya’ll fucked yerselves out of my story telling back in October.
In the words of LeVar Burton… “…but you don’t have to take MY word for it!“.
In the words of every episode of “Bill Nye, The Science Guy”… “TRY IT!“
In the words of The Thompson Twins… “Play With Me”…
[back to the track with the busted speaker]

Very cool concept for a game.
I think you are confusing the art of “Blending” and the duties of an actual DJ though.
A DJ plays what ever gets the crowd going, leading to people becoming thirsty or lost in the moment, thus Bar sales rise, leading to a permanent gig. Blending is a small part of it when making transitions in to other songs or when raising the tempo or lowering it to suit the crowds needs.
Bedroom DJ’s are lazy and use programs like Traktor and that takes the actual art out of it.
Also, since this is the Psychopathic forum I would have suggested music related to its artist like ICP..ect..ect..

Is there any freeware that will let me play around? Any suggestions or reccomendations?
I mean Bonesaw pretty much fucking nailed it, but id also like to try.
Edit: @cheshyr, I think I have exactly what your looking for just haven’t fully figured out my “MIXXX” freeware yet. Ive loaded both tracks, got a feel for the DJ Punk after a few listens and ive come up with this.
You have to add the sewerside “wicky wicky” between the DJ’s “boom chicka boom chickas”
I think that about solves it…
Yeah bitches, im that short gentleman mentioned in that youtube video.

I’m actually a master at this, as is evident by my super nifty mashups/remixes.
The greatest compliment is when people think I barely did shit. It’s actually a pain in the ass to make two songs fit together like that.

While I very much enjoy the good “Mash-Up” (ie DJ Cummerbund on YouTube), I tend to regard such tracks as falling within my same category of “bedroom DJing” that I place DJs that play out with a book or playlist of shit they’ve come up with at home.
It may not be a ‘setlist’ but it’s a big track “doing work” they recorded previously, rather than doing it with their hands and ears right there.
In a club/event setting where the DJ isn’t just there to be a human iPod Shuffle, it’s “cheating”, in my opinion. My exceptions are when said “mash-up” is an attempt to make a singular track using elements from two others. The more songs that get jammed into a single track, make it a “mega-mix” and that’s just… so… bleh.
I call it “cheating” because it’s… hmmm… how to say… Let’s just say that I think the reason why people got into Nicki Minaj’s ‘Anaconda’ was because 3/4 of it was just fuckin’ Sir Mix-Alot’s ‘Baby Got Back’…
Mash-ups are novelties of technological wizardry rather than artistic ingenuity.
I only just within the last few years went through the “DJ trauma” of going all-in on the digital conversion of my entire collection. There’s a lot of things about that that took many YEARS of … “apprenticeship”… to get to learn or be shown how to do. I revere scratch DJs from since I was old enough to ride my bike to the two screen movie theatre in my town to watch “Breakin’ 2: Electric Boogaloo”… but never met anyone in my travels that could (or would) teach me once I started DJing myself years later… when I was getting into debates about the benefits of CDs over vinyl. Go figure.
I buy the music. I play the music. My “mixes” are live using whatever knobs they give me to tweak.
Admittedly, the one superpower digital controllers have given me above what I already knew how to do is ‘recorded cue points’. It’s what I used to need a 3rd or 4th deck to achieve with the same song loaded so that I could turn a 4min song into a much longer one and create vocals for songs that had none (which was a “complaint” among my patrons that like books with pictures rather than “Peter and The Wolf”). Cue Points, yo.
I happened upon this combination of Prodigy & ICP after having recently done a full “scan” of my music library with some wrong setting or box checked; and as a result, I have a huge glut of tracks that I know for a FACT are somewhere in the 130-150bpm range that are reading as being in the 70+bpm range. I usually do this kind of scan only after a few months worth of music collection or when a certain folder is getting a little long-in-the-tooth with singles… It takes several hours to scan and sync my whole library so I haven’t worried about doing the correction just yet.
While playing around with some new shit that I KNEW was wrong, I noticed ‘Get Clowned’ and was like, “There’s NO WAY these two could be just ONE bpm away from each other!” knowing how generally plodding ‘Get Clowned’ is compared to the MUCH faster ‘Need Some 1’… but with a little tweaking of frequencies and cue point placement for future use… ‘Get Clowned’ sounds like it was MADE for a breakbeat vocal! “Fuck my meds, I’m about to go nutty!” makes for a prefect drop!
@drunkalo
I use Serato. You can download a freeware version that can run in Windows (or whatever you use) WITHOUT having a DJ controller. It’ll let you load two audio files into two channels with a manual (mouse) crossfader and pitch fader. Obviously bare bones but then again, I began discovering DJing with a boombox that could play two tapes at the same time…
@bonesaw
I see what you did there. :)

DJ topcat and others have been doing mash-ups since the late 90’s, early 00’s.
Before you could find the Stems to all of these rock songs.
And I feel ya on the two tape deck thing, only that’s how I used to make loops of samples waaaaaay back in he day. You had to line that shit up perfect.
The struggle was really real.
