Best album I'd have to say is Dumpin or Ryden Dirtay, or both the albums that were released last year. I didn't really care for Check Your Shit In or Duk Da Fuck Down though. Best song? Eh, Hatchet Riding, the ending track on Dumpin. Theres a bunch of favorites really. Hopefully they don't get any lawsuits with jacking these beats though. I don't know how dropping J&J records would work out if legal disputes came down to it.

legally youre allowed to use anything you want such as covers, jacked beats and samples with no problems if you only make 5000 copies
no, no, untrue.
"There is no such thing as a 'fair use' privilege for sampling music in a conventional commercial recording. [Grand Upright Music v. Warner Bros. Records, 1991] ... The defense of fair use is not available because the use is invariably commercial, without claim of being socially constructive criticism, parody, or reference."
sales and promotion are two purposes specificly excluded from fair use. you can use very short samples as context for a news story, for reviewing purposes, or for presenting a point about a social issue [the constructive criticism bit]. the last is mostly for usage in academic settings.
thats it. the only LEGAL use of an uncleared sample is personal amusement, you cant even play the song for your homies. thus, if you use a sample without permission, THE ONLY REAL DEFENSE YOU HAVE IS WHETHER OR NOT THEY FEEL LIKE SUING YOU.
now, if youre a scrub nobody, this is not much risk. but if you get rich and famous later, they can, and will, sue you. now that you have money, they can get damages, punitive penalties, court costs, and the rights to not only the shit you did before, but music you havent even recorded yet.
covers songs are slightly different, as they do not require a master use license. they do still require a mechanical license, though.
awfully paranoid, arent you?

no record company is going to sue over 5000. a friend of mine i know does lots of backround things for apple and gibson guitars. he did a billie jean cover for his lp. everything the same and when he pressed his cd, the company said they can only press 5000 due to copyright laws. i was just going off what i was told. i remember the first rydas cd was a 5000 press as well...a coincidence and lack of knowledge on my part i guess

my favorite all around album is probably Dumpin...just felt like it was them sitting in a slummy basement somewhere with a bunch of guns and bandanas and mad weed and drink and just putting together gangsta rap for the fun of it...some of my favorite songs of theirs are Back to Crack, Money Green, There It Goes, Last Ride, and Dumpin...I actually hope for the next album the majority of the tracks are more mellow beats such as There It Goes, Last Ride, Money Green, etc....not that I don't like the loud, in your face, gunshots galore sound but just think it'd be an interesting transition
