So, since we’re going to do it, lets go ahead and do the fuck out of it. I saw this post by Old Mr. Dangerous and it got me getting excited about a new gimmick, let’s all follow suit and share gimmick ideas we might like to see.

Likely, none of us will be right. Or one of us will. Or who the fuck knows maybe we all will somehow, but since I like to play make believe about bands, and Old Mr. Dangerous already started imagining a new gimmick for a lady rapper, let’s give it a go. Winner gets… uh, psychic abilities that apparently they already had.

I’m gonna call Evil Psychic Witch Lady reminiscent of the Ringmaster intro and the use of The Witch on hells pit.

To each his own. Gimmicks are the only reason I listen to any rap. I don’t think there is a single rapper I listen to that doesn’t have any sort of gimmick.
Most of the stuff I listen to that doesn’t have gimmicks is local rock bands lol.

I like the gimmicks and theatrics. The first time I saw a non-psy rapper I was so surprised like, oh, there’s just a guy on stage rapping, that’s what normal shows are like, huh. I mean, bands typically have more stage presence so they’re entertaining to watch (first concert I ever went to was a punk concert). I always wonder if I’d feel differently about normal rap shows if I wasn’t so used to psy.

I have seen dre, snoop, hopsin and Eminem live.
All considered legends or great lyricists. All were boring as shit live to me.

A lot of Juggalo artists really aren’t Lyricist. They rely on decent writing and production mixed with theatrics. They really pander to specific crowds for sure as do most of the non-maintstream artists.
Sure my collection is FULL of artists that are great lyricist but complete garbage live. But, when I go to a show they have to have more then just skill to keep me feeling like they are worth my money to be there. If I am going there just to hear them spit I might as well just stay at home and listen to their CD where the Beer is cheaper and I don’t have to worry about some nutsack ruining my experience…Naw I go for the SHOW….I go to be entertained. If I want to sit back and just appreciate skill I chill at home on the couch with a brew or whatever and relax and take it all in meditation style.
You know what I mean? Sometimes you go to a concert and the guy is talented as fuck but doesn’t move around much and has no gimmick and puts on no show and you feel bored as shit.

Gimmicks are dope if they are done well. I think It’s kinda impossible to not have a gimmick and be differentiated. Even mainstream, commercial as fuck artists have a gimmick to some degree, the gimmick is just “gangster” instead of dead gangster, or geek instead of freak. Its still a persona or character, usually larger tha life and not really the performers real life identity.

Personally rap is the genre that I dont expect a good show out of. It’s not even my most listened to genre. At all.
