Seeing a lot of renewed contempt for MML when people are saying YYB is the worst joker card or whatever. I went back and listened to both Lost and Found and while I can see why everyone thinks Lost is whack, im struggling to figure out the reason everyone hates Found so much.

Lost feels like ICP really trying hard to capture a dark/angry sound, when in reality, they wanted to make positive songs. Young Wicked's singing is so fucking cringe too (on both albums). The only songs on Lost that I can stomach are Falling Apart and maybe Vomit.

Even though I can see why people wouldnt like songs on Found because some people really hate that upbeat ICP shit and genuinely want dark Hells Pit type shit from newer ICP (because we will never get anything pre-shangrila again), I cant see why Found gets so much hate.

As far as positive ICP goes, I cant see what they could have done better (at that point in their careers). Production is clean, both J and Shaggy sound fresh, it feels natural. It feels like the type of music they actually want to be making. As corny as songs like Mr White Suit, OK, Im Sweet and The World Is Yours are, they sound miles better than anything on Lost.

Does everyone hate it just because its "sunshine and happiness" ICP or is it something else? If its because its corny, ICP have been doing corny shit for years and its part of the charm (for me). ICP being positive and having a message, for me, is like your retarded cousin wrapping up a turd and giving it to you as a christmas gift. They mean well and you can see they did it out of love but its kind of funny in a cringe kind of way.

Been going to bat for Found since its release.

I don't like "Mr. White Suit", but those othere three you mentioned are fantastic positive songs for me. Inspiring, even. I wouldn't consider them corny, either.

I loathe Christianity and all religions, but actually enjoy the opener track.

Found is a very good album. Most of it.

I feel exactly the same about the opening track. Even the singing doesn't cringe me out like it does on a lot of the other tracks.

I do feel some of the lyrics on those other songs are kind of corny, personally but it doesn't make me like them any less.

Gad I'm not the only one who actually likes Found.

cheers

I mean it’s pretty lackluster project for me BUT I’d be lying if I didn’t fucking love “I’m sweet” to death

I never really gave both albums a chance, only really bothered to listen to the songs that got videos and vomit/juggalo party when they were released a singles.. really should give the albums a proper listen..

I said from the very start that MML:found sounds like they were trying to make a christian rap album. and I ain't bout that shit. If someone wants to bump it good on them but it ain't for me.

I liked Found a lot more than Lost. We knew to expect a more "positive" album so I think I managed my expectations of the album properly. That being said, there's still a number of tracks on the album I can take or leave and didn't really have much desire to have repeat listens of the album outside of a handful of tracks. Lost had several tracks I outright thought were pretty bad, especially for a Joker Card.

I did like that there was more variety in the beats than on Lost. Lost got to a point where I could barely distinguish one track from the next as to where Found didn't suffer that same thing. Found I think was less heavy on Young Wicked production as well and I tend not to be a fan of his style for ICP, though I have to give props for Lost At The Carnival. That beat could have been on Milenko. ICP could have done better with their verses but overall I dig that one a lot.

Splice it up a bit and combine Lost with Found and there could've been a super solid Jokers Card right there. Of course, gotta pick from The Outtakes and Phantom, but that's another thread altogether.

Honestly, the Outtakes had some of the best shit. I can only assume that they felt those songs just didn't really fit the overall vibe of either "Lost" or "Found" as the reason why they weren't actually on those albums. Like The Dream, The Monster, Six Pedophiles, Joey The Butcher, and a few more are truly some of the best stuff they've done in this 2nd deck. I've even said before that if ICP were to release their final album, their final track could have been The Carousel just maybe with a bit more meaningful words from Shaggy as opposed to what he does at the end.

I actually didn't like Phantom as much as others seemed to have overall, but, the title track itself is the fuckin bomb. The beat, the hook, and the overall vibe of it is what I want to hear more out of from ICP. It was produced by Seven. You can just look at that beat and the remix he did of The Witch and be like damn, why the fuck don't they use him more?

In my opinion if they took  the best songs off found and the 2 good songs  off lost and added them to that outtakes album and put that out as one official album instead of the 2 volume gimmick it would be considered one of the better albums from the second deck

I said it when it dropped & I still feel "Found" is their best album in a long time.. Tempest was probably their last album that really gives "Found" some competition.. 3rd place would be BPB..

I agree about Found and Tempest. BPB not as much. It's super clear and bombastic sounding like AJB sort of, I just barely ever play it.

This mimics my feelings exactly. BPB is the last record of theirs I can play all the way through. Since then,  the only album I have given significant playtime is MDP. While I like tracks off MML, FFF and Yum Yum I can see myself never really bumping them again.  I don't care to.

It makes me wonder if it's just really me growing out of it. If BPB was the album just released, would I be feeling it?

Interesting thought.

If Riddlebox or Shangri-La or Terror Wheel were released now, would we dig them as much?

Amazing what time does to us.

I consider Found ICPs worst album myself. Only reason I tolerate it is because of Lost existing. I can't imagine how it would feel to listen to ICP in the 90s be randomly frozen.... unfrozen in 2015 and be like "man I wonder if those wicked clowns are still making music" and listening to that album🤣🤣🤣

All jokes aside though. It's happy friendly sound is overdone. Found, Ok, Juggalo Party, The World is Yours.....it feels oversaturated. Granted I like the message. Some tracks are just totally uninteresting to me. Like The Midway, theirs nothing to it really. Nothing creative just about Midway games. Lost at the Carnival is just basically "You check there! You check here! Now maybe over there!" It just feels like a drag listening to dispite the fact I love the production and chorus.

The upbeat sound on The Wraith was handled well. It's positive but it's also just badass. Not to mention tracks like Crossing thy Bridge? It's so perfectly placed and has emotional message. Its such a interesting album.

Get Clowned was a dope intro. In constrast to anything on Lost. Time, I fucked a Cop, Juggalo Party and I'm Sweet. Are the tracks I visit the most.

I don't know the whole Marvelous Missing Link era feels like ICPs low point in music for me. I love the cards concept and idea but off the heels of BPB and MDP it was so hard to follow up those albums. Plus the card design felt like a Simpsons version of Death Pop.

I can appreciate the albums but they haven't aged as well as FFF and I'm curious to see how I'll feel about YYB in a years time.

No denying it was a "low point" for them musically. I mean, despite his decent production skills, involving Otis so much in the music definitely gave MML (primarily Lost) a mundane feel. It just wasn't someone that should've had so much creative control in projects as revered as Joker's Cards. Best save Otis for smaller roles and side projects, if anything.

Still love Found, though. And like 3 or 4 Lost tracks.

Bang Pow Boom is also my favorite of the second deck. It came out during a time I was not listening to ICP so I caught up with it years after its release and I think it's the most consistent and enjoyable of the 2nd deck. Mighty Death Pop is pretty close, too. In fact I would say those are the 2 most similar sounding Joker Cards they've ever done comparatively. And of course, go figure, MEC produced those but I'm still down to hear more of the other solid producers we mentioned like Seven, Kuma, and Mike P.

I cant say why others hate Found, but I personally dislike half of the songs because they sound cheap and not-so-well produced to me. Maybe it simply doesnt fit my taste of music. I dont really mind their corny lyrics (however I've to admit that I like their darker stuff better), but listen to OK, Mr. White Suit or Juggalo Party. These beats are generic and just boring to me. Time isnt much better. And I used to hate Otis for his singing on the albums, I'm glad he fucked Samantha for that matter.
I really like The World Is Yours because of the message, but musicwise it's almost as boring as the songs mentioned above. Wanna bring positive vibes along? Fine! But dont bore me.

But as I mentioned in the other thread, if you switch up some songs, you get a smooth Joker's Card. That applies to both Lost and Found.

When I'm going back to listen to Lost and Found (what I do from time to time), those are the playlists I choose to go with:

Lost

01. Intro (from The Outtakes)
02. Lost
03. Apocalypse
04. Shock
05. The Dream (from The Outtakes)
06. How
07. The Monster (from The Outtakes)
08. I'll Keep My Hatchet
09. Six Pedophiles (from The Outtakes)
10. Confederate Flag
11. Vomit
12. Flamethrower
13. Why'd I Have to Die (from The Outtakes)
14. Falling Apart
15. I See The Devil

Found

01. Lost at the Carnival
02. Get Clowned
03. Joey The Butcher (from The Outtakes)
04. Dead Heather (from The Outtakes)
05. Let Loose (from The Outtakes)
06. Hooker (from The Outtakes)
07. The Midway
08. Immortal (from The Outtakes)
09. Mr. White Suit
10. Dreams of Grandeur
11. The World Is Yours
12. Juggalo Party
13. The Carousel (from The Outtakes)
14. Found
15. I'm Sweet

... I never understood why they failed with them original intros so much. With all respect to Jumpsteady, the original intros are way too corny - while the Intro for Lost from The Outtakes fits so good. Plus I think Lost At The Carnival is not a very good song itself, but a great starter. Like that, I enjoy Lost and Found a lot. Try it some time.
