Funny story when i went to toronto 2 years ago, i took a bus that was for tourists and dropped u off all around town as much as you wanted all day. One bus i got on the tour guide showed us the street drake grew up on. Not only was he raised on a part of the city of higher elevation, but its one of the richest neighborhoods if the city too. As for this list you speak, where is it…seems like every couple a months sum1 gets brought to my attention but doesnt exist on the forums anymore…makes me wonder why.

It seems like that’s just a thing that happens on here. Like, people bounce and come back a few years later or never come back at all. There’s very, very few that are consistent in their presence. At least that’s the vibe I’ve gotten in the few years I’ve been around.

Same as every forum. People come, people go, a few stay and there are always people going on about how shit has went downhill even though nothing has really changed. Except for that extended period of time where everything was political because of the elections. We are still recovering from that.

Theory:i feel like you and others got a grudge against me for some reason as of lately

You should have kicked at my place when you were in town but that’s it. Besides, you a fellow Scruffy Illuminati member, dawg. That shit’s for life.

Yeah, I’ll fucking kill you if you turn your back on us.

Dude i wanted to, but i had my girl and my homie and his girl with me. Plus they all wanted to eat at joes crab shack which made us late to the show and we left late that day too. After the show i passed out asap cuz of all the booze and the next day we had to get the rental car back by 1. It was a really tight schedule, Nothing personal. If our car wasnt so fucked we would of dropped by, but rentals and money issues played a role.

Yeah, Drake is fake and he stole his style from Big Sean. Personally, I don’t find most of these rappers everybody hates to be nearly as bad as people say. Drake could out rap ABK any day. Actually, Drake doesn’t write his own lyrics, so maybe he could. You wanna hear bad, listen to Bob E. Nite. None of the rappers suck, they just don’t do the type of rap you want to hear. Which is cool because you don’t have to listen to it, but to say they are ruining rap is just a farce. Rap isn’t ruined, we still have an extremely diverse genre with great music in it and it’s also still one of the most popular genres. The only problem with rap is the radio because they don’t play a diverse selection, they only play the shit people want to party to. Which you can’t blame the radio because people like to party. Which is why I like Kanye. Kanye makes huge creative turns to try and diversify the radio. Which never works, it usually ends up with everybody on the radio sounding like him. Case and point, 808s and Heartbreak. The first ‘hip hop’ album with melodic auto tuned vocals now everybody sounds like that. He even said back in 08 that it was the sound of the future. And he’s right. It was also the sound of Future.

Dude, don’t get me on a long pointless ramble about hip hop..

The lead up to the elections and post-elections was nasty for sure. It’s kind of like the odd few moments after a large fight around here right now. It’s not bad or hostile necessarily but there’s a few people that clearly didn’t get all the aggression out.

But they do have substance. Kendrick Lamar raps about all that shit. Tells people to learn to save money, not to spend all your shit all at once if you start making a ton, to invest it. Has an anti drinking song for people to get drunk to, or just listen to How Much A Dollar Cost. Talks about tons of crazy deep shit with a lot of substance behind it. On his music though, he’s not rapping about that stuff on Fucking Problems.

Or J. Cole. Like, that Dizzy Wright song sounded like a J. Cole song to me. J. Cole says that same exact kind of shit.

Kanye West tries but he’s crazy now so he can’t really get a coherent point out. But he tries.

Run The Jewels. They always talk about deep political shit. And I dgaf, I don’t consider El-P and Killer Mike mainstream on their own, but Run The Jewels does talk shows and commercials so I consider that mainstream.

Vic Mensa has talked about deeper personal shit and thrown in some not so deep political talk.

A$AP Ferg has a song to apologize to his girl for making songs about fucking other girls. I just think that song is funny.

If you sit down and actually listen to these artists you can find substance. And, as you can hear, the rapping ability isn’t any less than Dizzy Wright. Also, I think a lot of artists are just good at making those dope ass songs you just want to wile out to while their more deep songs come off as corny, while there are artists that do really good deep songs but couldn’t make a party song worth a shit.

@King Lucem Ferre im sorry i wasnt comin off clear. Ive tried to get into kendrick, cuz he does got substance but i cant stand his flow/delivery. His choice of words and the way he decides to put them together just doesnt resonate with me.

Its the same thing with the band TOOL, everyone who has known me or has come in contact with me have suggested them to me, and they get blown away when i tell them i dont like them, since im so into psychedelics. I understand that the music is trippy and that they have alex grey help with their visual art, but the way they construct their music doesnt resonate with me

Soo when i say something sux, its just my perspective on it. It Doesnt mean they dont have substance, i just shouldnt have to explain why i dislike something everytime i say it.

On a side note, even tho they dont have any good substance, i thoroughly enjoy three 6 mafia, their beats and they way they flow and the different styles all on one track appeals to my ears. Makes me want to party hard and fuck shit up

P.s. i got you on a pointless ramble, i win lol

No, you don’t have to explain shit. But I understand the Kendrick thing. Some people just can’t get into him because they think he sounds like Elmer Fudd. Oh, and Kendrick fans can get annoying.

But my point is don’t become too dismissive and invested in perceptions and labels and the whole ‘fuck the mainstream’ attitude because you really will miss out on a lot of great stuff. But it’s still a pointless ramble even with a point.

For 36Mafia I could never get into them but you can hear a HUGE influence from them and Bone Thugs on a lot of these newer trap artists. I mean, 36Mafia are the Esham of Trap. I think Outcast is credited as creating that sound though.

That’s how I feel about Mr. Mothafuckin eXquire. Or even Kanye, though Kanye leans more towards superficial these days.

I’ll be honest. I only read half of this thread. I really only came here because the thread title reminded me of this:

https://youtu.be/3NhcssVFeUw

Specifically, “Mustard Titz da Murda Masta” Brown.

That is all.

You should of read my next post after this one…i was going thru some shit mentally in the beginning of this year, and i knew not to trust my illusionary walls i built at the time…i now know everyone is going thru changes this year, hence #17ing…as far as being “annoying”, i get that, sometimes im annoyed with others too. I know now not to get caught up in “opinions”.
