Shaggy said on ThaFukEva that Lil Toenail is featured on the Ouija album. So it’s in the works.
No Sleep should’ve been the first single from Lyte. He killed it on 6 Foot 7 Foot and the cypher tho. Sidenote: J’s verse on the cypher is maybe the most proficient rapping Violent J has ever done.

I’ve been seeing a lot of Ouija in the studio, so the avalanche push is about to come this way on that dude. I think hes gonna put out some dope shit. And you know that group project with Lyte is coming too…
I follow both of them on snap chat. 90% of their stories are of them in the lotus pod working on something or playing snippets of their new shit.

I agree this video was meh, but I was honestly unaware there were people hating on Lyte. I personally think he’s the best legit rapper in the history of Psy, is it “Juggalo music”? No, but that was a nice change.
Naaaaaaw. If by “legit rapper” you mean technical skill then it’s gotta be Madrox, hands down. And then Mono. And then Otis.

Juggalos really lack an understanding of lyricism and hip hop if they think it’s completely about technical ability. It’s like Tech N9ne and newer Eminem have great technical ability but provide some of the most cringey lines. Terrible lyrics are terrible lyrics no matter how well you rhyme them.

Well that’s why I said “if,” isn’t it? Technical skill is the only thing that Lyte could possibly compete in, so I assumed that’s what he meant. If we’re talking lyricism then it’s a tie between Violent J and Shaggy (I stand by this and won’t budge so don’t bother arguing, anyone). All other categories go to Madrox.

RI think about that a lot, actually. I feel like that’s the curse and the crutch of the chopper rapper, and it’s become such a flooded market that its nearly pandemic. Blending technical skill and engaging lyrics is not only a tall order talentwise, its also a mountain that was already conquered more or less by the likes of Busta Rhymes and Twista back in the 90s.
The saturation of the “BARS!” meme has had a strange effect on rap overall. There’s no shortage of technically skilled rappers, but that emphasis by and large ignores things like cadence and unique ways of playing with timing, things that make songs memorable. The overemphasis on style over substance can result in a lot of syllables saying a whole lot of nothing. This is a problem Young Wicked and Playboy the Beast have in common, and I like PB&B.
Fast rapping does not necessarily make for better music. Twiztid is a good example of this. Their delivery has sped up, but I find their songs much less memorable as a result. I noticed this issue particularly with Year of The Sword and Triple Threat. There’s this strange disjointed quality to it. Since they shifted their focus toward being more lyrical, the final product just comes across as mediocre because that style has already been so thoroughly dominated by so many of their contemporaries. That’s not to say they suck, or it wasn’t a worthy progression. Monoxide has honed his punchlines and delivery down to a cutting edge, for sure. But without an interesting concept to back it its just those dudes rapping without bringing anything compelling to the table. Probably why Triple Threat was such a wash for me.
As for Lyte’s video, all I can really say is there’s a lot of the kid’s personality on display here. He’s for sure talented, but, well. Refer to my earlier statement about choppers.

Bars isn’t meant to be shouted at technical ability. It’s meant to be shouted at people with dope word play. I think it’s ignorant people who don’t know shit about hip hop that say that about technical rappers. Which sadly happens to be a lot of juggalos and goofy white kids. That’s why Tech gets so much praise as ‘the best’ from them because he is the first time people from this side of the underground have actually heard complex rhyme schemes yet they over look the corny and cringe worthy punch lines he gives for the sake of keeping a rhyme scheme going because they don’t seem to actually care about lyrics. That’s one thing I’ve noticed in this culture. A lot of juggalos and pseudo-back packers rate a rapper’s lyrical ability based on how fast they rap and I guarantee that they don’t actually understand half the lyrics which is ironic as they talk so much trash on ‘mumble’ rap for the same shit. And as somebody who has heard both I can assure you that most of Strange isn’t anymore creative than Lil Yachty when it comes to lyrics.
My opinion on Lyte? I’ve heard this before. Just another goofy white boy trying to be Tech pushing aesthetically pleasing nonsense onto aesthetically driven morons. Seems like the type of shit MNE would have signed in their pursuit to emulate Strange if Psy didn’t already.

Ehhhh nitpicking your point, but, it’s not JUST dope word play, right? Technical ability counts at least a little. You wouldn’t shout “BARS!” at Shakespeare, would you? I could monotonously read the lyrics of a Rakim song off of a piece of paper and it wouldn’t mean shit without the right delivery. Yes, I’m playing devil’s advocate.
I think it’s ignorant people who don’t know shit about hip hop that say that about technical rappers.
Agreed (if you add the word “only” at the end).
Which sadly happens to be a lot of juggalos
Disagree.

Anghellic, Absolute Power, and Everready are nearly flawless. If you wanna call the newer stuff corny then whatever but if you think classic Tech is corny then we just have different ideas of corny.

Agreed if you change “A lot of juggalos” to “some juggalos”. You don’t give Juggalos enough credit imho.
Overall I fully 100% agree with your main thesis: it takes more than speed and tricks to be a good rapper. I’m just peeling the onion because it’s fun to over analyze things.

Nahh, there’s a lot of corny to those albums. It’s a mountain dew, neck beard, backwards cap, energy drink guzzling, pot headed, self diagnosed mental illness for an edgy aesthetic, revving the engine of your piece of shit car with a taped on bumper as if you’re not driving a piece of shit car with a taped on bumper kind of corny.

I think if ur really about lyricism in all genres u should have enough soul to know when to sound stupid in the name of the song.
Like all great lyrical and “poetic” artist i like, i can tell went back and said i gotta change that to something that sounds cool.
Its not that they are selling out its that they are making a song and its not a poetry book.
I would say dumb shit and make sounds in my muisc if it sounded good.
I like ahit like reggae and jazz that whos lyrics and sounds sometimes just mix fogether to feel good.
I would have the best adlibs…
No but fast does not mean good.
As a matter a fact if i dont like chopper crap.
I think its a cheap tactic.
I think u should only do that some of the time in ur song with a good build up and timing.
I learned from my late friend, the pixies, foo fighters and of course Nirvana that fast then alow formula almost always work.
Look at teen spirit. Like that. And any foo song. Everlong?
But yeah non of my muisc uses that choper shit but juggalo music.
I think lyte doesnt always use it i think and i think he has hella potential to dope shit givin the right guidance and really the right producer is key i think for this guy.
I for sure think these old chopper cats use that chopper shit to mask boo boo lyrics.
But i dont listen to Tech. Not for years. Like before i even liked ICP. Someone puts him on i still think it slaps and it just sounds hella juggalo to me so i enjoy it.
But yup chopper shit stale.
I dont think lyte is as generic as ur making him
But he has talent and its what u do with it.

And along time ago i first heard bars in the bay are for DRIVING.
And if its slang unless u show me proof we made it up and all u are wrong :)
Slang has started here way to many times than not and not givin credit for that not to be an automatic rule of thumb for me.
Been saying it for years and will for ever say it and i never even seen that meme :/
Like when ppl call shit “fire”
Wtf thats old coke talk.
Like we would laugh when we called weed the fire cuz we were being silly.
Now my shoes and my tacos are fire?
In the end bars to me means anything u did or do well
“U got bars at rollin?
Oh yeah and if u just say “i got bars” here with out context. We will think u are either talking about driving or rolling weed lol.
