I was at that Gathering and I thought it was pretty bunk that they played a short show and then threw on their new album, but it was stupid hot that year, and Jamie hadn’t taken the weight off yet. I was dosed so I can’t say if they played four songs or six, but I did end up hanging out listening to the album that night, and part of why I like that that album is that it brings me back to tripping at the Gathering.

I love Heartbroken and Homicidal, and it was my favorite album of theirs until Abominationz came out. I just think it’s fantastic, start to finish, and I never understood why people hated on it. And actually, I seem to remember peoples immediate reaction being “Man this is a great album!” but then as people started to call it emo, the general opinion changed. Same with Mighty Death Pop. I heard almost nothing negative about it when it first came out, but after a month or two, people started hating on it.

They explained at the gathering last year that they really almost couldn’t even make it that year. Like they weren’t gonna show up period. One of them had personal shit to attend to. So they were actually showing love by showing up and doing a short set then bouncing
