the 'last traveling freakshow' was a straight joke.  they were, in my opinion, considerably less freaky than the average gathering attendee.  the big, showstopping finale feat that the kid pulled was...  wait...  stapling dollar bills to his tummy.  

ooh.  such a freak.  

he also swallowed a toy 'sword' that was so tiny, had it been real, hed have been laughed off the battlefield.  

and put a mousetrap on his face or some shit.  

it was definitely not 'some fucked up shit youve never seen before', as it was billed.  wrong twice.  far from it.  

i guess every other freakshow in the world either folded up or refuses to travel.  

the one girl would get it, though.  

 

openers were: 

a cat whose name is chris sumnidontremember, who did okay but got not much energy back, probably cuz nobody knew his shit. 

then there was nuttin nyce, who brought with him frodo the ghost.  these guys are both saint louis staples, but far as i can tell, they dont got a helluva lotta reach outside the area.  they did their thing, the crowd did theirs [although, there seemed to be some kinda in-joke goin on where any time nyce said 'mosh pit here!' or whatever, the slamdancing abruptly stopped.  shrug?]  

    

already talked up clownvis, so.  

peak moment of the evening was probably 'reading rainbow'.  hell yeah.  

  

the kids with vip actually threw faygo on the crowd, during armageddon.  crazy, right?  i think theyre finally catchin on.  

that was a really nice touch.  

  

along with the various other tracks that people have mentioned em playin already, icp did down with the clown.  

the centerfold version of down with the clown!  

i personally love this remix, and id be cool with it if they never do the original or the much lamer billie jean versions again.  

  

they also got new faygo breaks.  or at least, i dont remember em from before.

oh yeah...  

whoever it was that was playin ape boy [ape boy!], they had their own lil mini-show goin the whole time.  it was actually pretty damned entertaining just watchin him, and ignoring the rest of the chaos.  actin out bits that were just... i dunno.  entertaining.

Last time I heard of him, he was claiming "clean and sober" and was doing autotuned rap about positive topics.  Prior to that, he was known for doing really trashy live performances and getting himself thrown off stage even if the crowd was feeling him.  So it should be interesting because no one knows exactly what to expect from him.  I personally liked his wild persona, so I hope he does that.  It should be fun either way.  That's the perfect kind of crowd for his shenanigans, and he's had time to tighten up his live performance since GOTJ 2015 (he was 19 going on 45 at that time).  As rough as that performance looked, it seemed like people still liked it.  So I dunno.  That's why I think it should be interesting.
