I wish Seven would do more production for ICP that’s similar to what he’s done for Brotha Lynch.
FUCK YES!! I agree with this 10,000fucking%. Especially shit akin to: Krocadil, Body on the Floor, Sweeney Todd, and maybe Blood All Over Me. I say “maybe” because I’m not sure who produced it.

I can dig these. Think something like that would work a lot better than some off of TMML.

See what you did there. Clever. The producers he used for the Mannibalector trilogy were all great. My favorite beat of Brotha Lynch’s was from Freddy Machete and it’s basically a remake of Lil Wayne’s Hit Em Up, which is probably a remake of something itself.

How is preachy to me, lost is preachy to me, I see the devil is a little bit preachy to me.
I think you’re hypersensitive to religious cues. The intro is definitely cringeworthy and probably the only time the words leaving jumpsteady’s mouth have filled me with anything other than awe and inspiration. But how isn’t the least preachy. Neither is I see the devil, i can see lost since it’s riding the intro’s coat tails. All those songs fit the card’s theme 100% though, so I can’t see a reason to complain without condemning the card/album as a whole. Disclaimer: as a man of faith, and one who’s struggled with his faith in the past in many of the ways discussed on this album I am just as biased as I implied you were when I called you hypersensitive to religious cues. You just strike me as an extremely modern super liberal, which is cool but that makes me expect you to reject religious shit lol. @piggofdoom (tagged to expedite response)

Nah, you’re totally right. I used to be just like you, actually. Everyone in my extended family is SUPER religious and think I am going to hell. How is preachy to me because they make SPECIFIC references to the Bible. “How do I honor my deadbeat father…” “How can I turn the other cheek…” It’s probably worse for me because I USED to be religious, so it’s easy for me to pick up on a lot of references to Christianity. I really like J’s verses in How, but Shaggy’s not so much. Honestly, this is probably one of my least favorite ICP albums at this point. Not JUST because of the (perceived) preachiness, but I’m just not feeling much of the other songs. That being said, it’s still early on, and it may grow on me. Flamethrower is the shit for sure, though. I just wish ICP would go back to talking about being CLOWNS more, and actual carnival themes.
Even with the (perceived) preachiness of some of the tracks, Neighbors are Fighting is still the worst song on the album by far. I hate overly repetitive shit like that, it just seems lazy to me. Like the lines are cool, I just hate hearing the same lines over and over.
I actually see myself more as a social libertarian. If I were 100% liberal, I wouldn’t have the views on guns that I do.
Finally, I never got this notification, @ltb

It’s funny cus the last album (MDP) everyone was bitching that it was TOO clowny lol, and they call themselves clowns plenty of times on Tmml. But don’t let you (current) distaste for religion poison you to the the album. How is still a pretyy damn emotion invoking song, and I know a lot of people hate on neighbors are fighting but have you tried just appreciating the sheer violence of the track and lifting weights to it? It’s great lol. Persnally my least favorite is shock

King Lucem Ferre Replies
I like the album. For now. I liked MDP for about a month before it wore off.
I think that songs like How and I See The Devil are meant to be preachy but when you break it down it’s still relatable from a secular point of view.
How can be seen as a struggle with morality and I See The Devil can be taken the same way.
King Lucem Ferre Rambles On
I never liked ICP for their funny songs, I’ve always liked ICP for their great story telling, their horrorcore lyrics and their political and social commentary, which is very very simple and juvenile though I was simple and juvenile when I got into them. I think I’ve been disappointed with the fact that they have moved away from the horror stories to more silly songs, but on this album they returned to the horror aspect.
I wish their social commentary would have evolved a bit more over the years but they still recycle the same topics with out even using current events as fuel. We hate racists, do right or go to hell, etc. Why not use racial profiling as a topic? Cops killing black people is a real problem. Look at the statistics and you’ll notice that you are way more likely to be killed by a cop if you are black than if you are white.
Or, better yet, classism is becoming a bigger problem than ever especially with such a huge wealth gap between the 99% and the 1%. Juggalos are the perfect example of classism and the type of bigotry that goes on today. How come ICP hasn’t made a song that stands up for juggalos especially when the FBI classified them as a gang and the whole world basically said “I don’t give a fuck”? Just what I’d like to hear, something that should be said that nobody has said before. Twiztid are the only ones that actually rap about how unfair it is that juggalos are treated the way they are. I think ICP should. Like a PSA to the rest of the world.
King Lucem Ferre Rambles Even More
I guess there are a few evolved topics on Lost. How and I See The Devil being matured versions of what they have already done and Falling Apart being a personal and different take of songs like Deadman Walking and The Dead One.
This album was different though and sounded like they were trying to jump on the industrial Trap sound that has become popular lately. I have no problem with that, I like the sound, but everybody is trying to do it these days. It’s just not like them to jump on a bandwagon like that. Then again, all production was done mostly by Young Oatmeal and he does seem to be a bandwagon jumper. Not a bad thing at all, just uncreative.

Please, let’s not… I fear I’ve alienated enough people in the rape thread, let’s not go into this one too… lol.

@entrappedmind , NEVER! Just cause opinions and viewpoints differ, you’ll never be alienated. This would be a pretty boring forum if we all had the same thoughts on everything. Always speak your mind. Even if things get heated, always remember that no rule says that fam can’t argue. We disagree on the rape thread but outside of that thread, I don’t think twice about it.

This. One of the MOST important things I’ve learned in college is how easy it is to discuss topics and disagree with people without being personally affected by the discussion. How to “disagree without being disagreeable.” So basically how to debate without being a dick and getting pissed off all of the time. No one agrees on everything, and I think it’s important to have some real, serious discussions. At least, it’s more important in my mind than half of this other bullshit we talk about.
On a different note, I never claimed MDP was too clowny. I don’t mean SILLY when I mean clowny, I just mean carnival
themed songs, like murder go round, halls of illusions, tilt a whirl, etc. at this point it feels like they’re just two dudes with face paint who talk about killing people. This is why I liked House of Wax so much. Not only were all of the tracks solid, but it had the carnival theme I’ve always loved.

If it weren’t for the fact that A: all three of you know me personally and B: all three of you are more open-minded to differing opinions, based on how vehemently we’re arguing our opposite sides of the argument, I probably would’ve alienated y’all, too. Of course, if you guys weren’t who you are, you wouldn’t have bothered debating it in the first place, or it’d be a much more heated discussion, or some shit.
My point above, that you quoted… Start to involve race into things… And I think the discussion would go from debate between us to flame war with others’ involvement real quick.
