Him and Dre used to work really closely together. They basically invented G-Funk together. I think he’s one of these dudes who has almost universal respect from other pioneers in rap for being an originator himself, but his level of fame doesn’t reflect that.
Btw, Murder Rap isn’t even the only time ICP covered them.

I think it’s kind of an ongoing debate that can’t really be solved. As far as I know, they both came out with it around the same time and they have been working together early on as well. So it’s Hutch’s word against Dre’s. I think they probably influenced each other while they were working together.

the article claimed dre heard hutch’s sound and released his album before hutch’s.. who knows tho, obviously theyre cool with each other and dont care..

Hatchet Execution is one of my favorite “crew” joints from PSY.
And agreed, Big Hutch is a legend. Like Paris, he was one of the best to ever grace a PSY song. Along wth Geto Boys, Snoop, Ice-T, Cube… really, the number of legendary rappers that have fucked with the Clowns is pretty impressive. Ol’ Dirty Bastard, also. That was a strange, classic example.
