First off we got their at about 12:30. Easily the first people there so our group was like “Fuck it let’s get drunk”…and the drinking began at 12:30. This set an entire mood for the rest of the night lol. While we were in the parking lot we were bumping music, drinking and my brother in-law and his friend were trying to blow up bottles of Faygo.
We even got to take some early pics with Bonez Dubb and got first crack at the merch booth which was slim however I did grab a Hoodoo Asylum shirt and a AMB CD I didn’t have and got my buddy Too Tall a Bonez Dubb car sticker he wanted. Funny and embarrassing moment. When I was at the merch booth I was talking to this guy and the girl running it and the guy pointed out some cool merch he just placed on the table. I didn’t get a look at the guy very well but he seemed really knowledgeable and at side view looked just like a guy I saw running a booth at the Riddlebox tour so I assumed he was that guy. When he left I aksed “Who is that guy” and she laughed at me and said “That was Bonez Dubb”. As I had never seen him before and never looked straight at him I didn’t know and was absolutely embrassed but dude was so cool about it and said it wasn’t the first time someone thought he was that other guy either lol.
PS: Bonez Dubb is a skinny mother fucker jesus that guy needs more Faygo’s or something.
We got in the doors on time easily and there were maybe 40 people there at the star by the time the first act started it was 80 tops. I am going to go over SOME of the local acts but not all of them for various reasons. Some I couldn’t remember the name of the act and others I didn’t really get pictures for.
First off Nasty Nutty started us off. Ok so this guy is a showman. He puts on a great show and after meeting him he seems like a pretty cool guy. He had a blow up doll stage prop which damn near made me shoot beer out of my nose when I saw it. Also got to chat with him a bit after he finished his stuff and the guy is a pretty cool genuine person.
There was another local guy after Nutty but honestly can’t remember his name. Been looking all day for it and I do have the picture in a small album I put together for you guys after this. Sorry to the artist if you see this correct me please. ANYWAYS the guy was a decent lyricist however sometimes I felt he moved around too much. He was all over the place that it felt more like an excersize video then a concert.
Next was Nok1. Nok1 was pretty good. He was cool as fuck in person and a decent performer. HOWEVER the guy that performed with him pissed a few people off. He basically used the ENTIRE crowd to try and mosh spinning in circles running in to people with beers and cigs in their hands. People started to get a little pissed but he didn’t seem to want to stop but no drama ever came of it thank goodness although one guy spilt and entire jack and coke because of it and I thought we might have a murder on our hands but no.
Then there was Lost Ninjas. This was their 5th show in a week I think the guy said so that is pretty intense for local acts. The guys rocked it though and one even brought his young daughter on stage to do a little thing they had been working on which was cool as shit.
After them was Rocco Demize. This guy is amazing. However a guy collabing on one of his tracks Phantom Psychotic got nervous and screwed up a whole song for him. Rocco himself is a solid rapper and after listening to him and his actual rap partners CD I must say this guy needs more love from the Fam he is definitely worth the effort. His group Dichotomy reminds me a lot of Dark Half.
The INFAMOUS DOUCHE. Sorry I am saying it. This guy in a rangers jersey kept irritating the shit our of the women trying to get close to the stage and standing in front of photographers on purpose. Someone mentioned he may work for a production or company wanting pictures but his mannerisms were absolute trash. FUCK THAT GUY. Fuck him right in the brown pussy he calls an anus. You don’t need to knock down women and other photographers just to be a dick you were taller then all but one other mother fucker in that building.
RANT DONE. Next came Carson $t Cartel….now they aren’t really doing wicked shit but they were pretty good. Even good enough to go mainstream if they keep improving and they have that general look of mainstream about them. They definitely put on a good show though.
Then came Phantom Psychotic. Ok his solo performance was decent. He still seemed nervous though. I got to talk to him afterwards and he seems like a cool guy that just needs to keep at it and get used to performing in front of people.
After him was New Creation. Now New Creation and their label had a lot to do with this concert. They helped promote it big time. New Creation was ok. Definitly not my favorite act of the night. Something about the performance seemed very generic for me personally. However the guys are cool people and very easy to talk to.
While they were setting up for Hoodoo and Bonez I got some time to chat with Scottie and introduce him to my wife and family and as usual he was gracious and approachable. I was pretty drunk at that time and the fact he sat there and talked with me without losing his patience was fucking amazing because I think my wife was about to kill me by this point.
Then Bonez Dubb came on. He seriously did good I thought. Not sure why I have heard so much hate for him on this site. This night had a lot of performers and he was easily one of the best by far. He came out did his thing and did it well. I am looking forward to his solo shit. He had a mix of AMB/Hav Knots stuff and it sounded fine.
The FINALLY….the lights go and the smoke comes and out comes Big Hoodoo. He was FUCKING AMAZING live. PERIOD end of story. Dude did not care how small the crowd was he fucked shit up anyways and made us all fans by the end of the night. He did such a medley of songs between Hav Knots, Crystal Skull and Asylum songs. The lights and smoke was perfect and the venue was alive as fuck.
Overall even with small numbers these guys still made it something special. They took what they had and we had an amazing night. I have a new found respect and love for Bonez Dubb and many more local artists now and this concert also simply solidified Hoodoo as my second favorite artist on Psychopathic. The guy releases dope albums, has a dope personality and puts on fucking great shows? What more can a Juggalo ask for?
Here is a small album of photos from the night. Sorry some are fucked up but it was hard to get some picture and the picture of us with Hoodoo was so dark we tried to brighten it up but it also messed up the picture.

I know this is going to sound a tad douchy which of course is my forte, but how many threads do you have dedicated to this one Hoodoo show? Moving forward it would be nice (to me at least chime in if its just my irritation ppl) if maybe you just started a thread with say the tour name/artist/date and dubbed that the official thread for all things that purpose. I dont care much for Milk Lo but he does that with almost every show he covers and you said yourself thats a winning way to do it. Just a suggestion try to take it as such…

Um. One?
They are all different subjects. This is a review. Putting a review in the same topics as those others would cause off-topic
discussions.
EDIT: Had to recheck what you meant. I have a heading out thread. Doesn’t fit in the review. Asking about his album release date thread which I posted A WHILE back and had nothing to do with this show. The other was about makeup and stuff for the show or ideas on an outfit…which ALSO doesn’t belong in a review.

No i understand that but if you just make an “THE OFFICIAL such and such thread” everything from you not being able to go, being able to go, going, who else is going, what makeup to wear, and review could all just be posts in that thread, along with other people who are going who could chime in too. Im not saying you should merge any of the threads you’ve already created, just that its less cluttery to have one thread that gets way more views and updated and bumped by more people. Alot of your threads on the matter have been singular in topic and really warranted just a post in an existing thread rather then their own. Once again this is just advice id give anyone who makes a bunch of threads dedicated to one topic.
That being said I liked you review and wish I had a date close to me so I could get Hoodoo to click for me like im assuming a smaller venue would achieve. Ive only seen him at the GOTJ and while thats fresh, its not his best showcase at this time imo. He has been better every time ive seen him though so there is that.

Ah yeah. I thought about that after the fact many days ago. Even thought about asking about Sub-forums for each artist you know? I know some of the little bullshit threads get annoying for sure. Maybe we should make official threads for broad topics I like the idea. I definitely think the idea of condensing such broad topics would make the forums less cluttery.
Dude, he was fucking amazing last night. I felt it was worth every penny. Matter of fact I wish I had spent more at the merch booth now. He put it all out there for us and didn’t make the small crowd feel they were getting ripped off. He came there to give us a show and that is exactly what the homie did. Much love to him for that.
Much love to you for the suggestion and reading man.

PS: Bonez Dubb is a skinny mother fucker jesus that guy needs more Faygo’s or something.
He’s probably really sick of people telling him he’s “too skinny”. He’s perfectly healthy.
Society thinks fat girls get shamed, skinny dudes have to constantly hear about their weight.
Hopefully he is not that sensitive. If it makes him and you feel better I agree that I am a fatass with a food addiction that could stand to lose a few lbs……now let me go cry in my closet because I just became the millionth person to tell me that.

Haha, I should have first said I really enjoyed the review and all your posts leading up to the show. I’m not even into Hoodoo but you always do a good job setting the scene for shows you’ve been at. Props ninja

Dude, nice! You took all these photos?
No, my wife did. She took over 200 photos that night that is just a short album I made for you guys. The few you see my wife in Too Tall usually took.
EDIT: Usually how it works is me, Too Tall and the guys get her in a good spot and then protect her from idiots getting too rough with her. Honestly she likes a lot of the music but can’t handle the pit very well so we make a mini-wall around her while she clicks away.
Hopefully we will get some good ones from Twiztid. The Railclub was easy. We couldn’t get safely near the stage with her but they had a balcony and since her camera zooms nicely we got good pics for Riddlebox. Never seen Scouts bar before but we will try and get some great pictures of that show for you guys also lol.

It absolutely was. Especially on a show that drew less than 100 people. the shit started at 5 PM on a weekday for fuck’s sake. I didn’t even get there until 8.
If I’m at a show I always prefer a DJ to spin good music between sets, rather than 20 local rappers yelling.
1-2 locals
1 mid card act
headliner
DJ inbetween.

I actually showed up close to midnight bc yall already know the reason why there’s a bazillion local acts that are paying to play bc of SUPER low attendance. And every show here in ATX is like that for the second tier artists on Psy and as recent as MNE (Blaze/Lex)
I don’t know how long Austin can keep putting on the shows on the Psychopathic end (dunno who booked the Blaze/Lex show ) with the low attendance. And by Austin I don’t mean the city, I mean the homie Austin that runs out of the past (where GOTJ tickets are every year). I attribute it to ICP having not returned since Hells Pit/Black Rain tours. ATX got a shout out once upon a time on TFTLP ?
