So I noticed when AMB got signed to Psychopathic a lot of people were pissed off. Like legit, Pissed off! When I was at one of AMB's first tours on Psychopathic records in Massachusetts, they were getting boo's and people even threw things at them.  When I noticed that song hexed came out for the first time for Big Hoodoo. There were so many hateful comments about his music. Now it seems more relaxed, I loved Crystal Skulls, I didn't hate his '' Singles '' on the album but I wasn't going to judge his music on a few songs either. The first time i listened to Crystal Skulls I was sold. AMB got way better musically Garcia Brothers is one of their best records right now. So explain this too me, why do so many people instantly hate new psy acts? you gotta give it time, You'll grow to enjoy them.

People don't like change. We're assholes like that. We reject "new" because it's different and we don't know how to process it.

I don't care for AMB but I grew to like hoodoo. I don't like a lot of the stuff that came out on psy though.

When someone new comes out, what will always stand out is the haters.  Like, it's too soon to tell if you're all about them so the people who like them aren't going to say much yet.  But if you right away aren't feeling it then most people aren't going to give it a chance to grow on them.  So it just makes sense that when a new artist comes out all you're gonna hear at first is the hate.

That being said, I was really skeptical when psy said they had new artists a few years back.  But when Hoodoo came out I was down right away, started off by buying two of his CDs just so I could give one to the first Juggalo I came across who hadn't heard of him yet.

Also, people were pissed about AMB because it was a contest and people get competitive/have differing opinions.

I agree that the contest had a lot to do with amb's hate. I wasn't a "hater" but I wasn't all that fond of their music at first either. But they have shown improvement with each album. Garcia Bros was a solid effort and after hearing Otis's work on the missing link and the dope track from his upcoming solo I'm not a firm believer in their future career.

As for Hoodoo, I didn't really sense all that much hate at first but he came out at a time when I was avoiding the juggalo world on the internet. I personally like his shit but it falls into the same category as blaze for me. Good music but nothing really stand out.

Boondox was one of the contestants in that same contest and didn't get out of the first round. He never won any contest.

I seem to recall Boon getting a fair few rolled eyes, too. At least at first. Folk definitely grew to love him. That said, I was down from the get go and when the second album dropped it confirmed my love.

AMB were always gonna be a tough sell. They were one of the most visible "juggalo acts" prior to said contest and quite frankly weren't up to snuff when put against some other contestants, yet it was almost an air of complacency that it was theirs for the taking purely on being the most juggalo of the bunch. IIRC, many online forum-wise (not necessarily here as I didn't really frequent FLH all that much nor knew had a forum back then) were certainly more warmed to the likes of PLC.

AMB have definitely grown as 'artists', though. Young Wicked particularly I've been more and more impressed with recently. I recall the first time I noticed his game stepping up was on "Kept Grindin" despite Bonez Dubb's horrible verse. So it's good to see him moving forward with the solo shit and obviously all that hes been doing with the Clowns (from production and the Legz role on TMML and the shit with Killjoy Club).

Slaughter may well be the closest I'll get to liking and maybe even buying an AMB record. Time will tell on that.

In terms of Big Hoodoo, I enjoyed his first record for what it was, in a similar way to how I did with The Harvest and Boondox. I'll be looking forward to seeing what he does next now the gimmicks established, but behind the paint he's always seemed a decent guy so whatever happens theres no hate from me.

Rob speaking on the idea of change being something hated, that can be about right many a time. Don't forget when Blaze first hit the scene no one gave a fuck til he was pushed back on the label and shoved down peoples throats. Fuck the haters there though as the gimmick and first EP were fire.

I think both AMB and Hoodoo came too late. PSY already had their hayday and no new act was going to live up to who they had in the early 2000's.

I personally liked AMB, Boondox, and Hoodoo at times, but they don't have staying power to me.

AMB will stay soley as ICP's sidekicks if nothing else, especially with Otis's role on these new releases.

I think otis is gonna do things completely different from everyone else. He is doing diffrent from eveyone else. Hes been gettung better and better with each project. I think he has an original and entertaining singing voice. He is has talent. And i dont think icp has the energy or desire to have sidekicks.

I never hated on AMB ever since I heard Unforgiving Forest (I think that was the name) I was a fan.  I seen the potential in those dudes that night at St. Andrew Hall for the contest.  HAHA Who remembers PLC?  I'm not even gonna front that one dude in that group could RAP!!!!  I should look them up on YouTube and see if they are still doing anything.  They just didn't fit the Juggalo look people said.  That was the coolest thing that PSY EVER did imo!  Everyone on PSY up in the rafters sitting there judging all of the acts.  That contest had so many people hype and the build up to the Gathering was insane.  I remember that like it was yesterday. I thought that dude from Flint - Dirty was pretty fuckin dope too.  But yeah AMB was always the shit to me!  I would like to really see that Bones solo come to light, have Otis do the beats.

As for Hoodoo...meh.  I mean he's a really cool dude personally, and maybe he can come with a dope sophomore album.  J needs to let him be and let his creativity come through on his music.  Give pointers, don't pimp the whole project as if its yours....

when they came out with the Blood in Blood out, I listened to it once and didn't pick it back up until a few years later after Gods hand came out. I hated their appearance, and saw them as Twiztid Lite.  Ive grown to really like them, minus 50% of Bonez dubs verses. like seriously, how many times are you gonna spell out words in your songs. I hate the S-H-I-T.

Hoodoo, I only listened to his album once, and that was a couple years ago. not really a fan, and will go about my daily life if he never made music again.

Yeah, I agree with that. My comment was more tongue in cheek than anything. I know Otis has a ton of talent, it'll be interesting to see if Bonez can keep up.
