Worse than Yum Yum. And holy fuck that shouldn’t be possible.
Side note: Gathering was fresh though, but I won’t be surprised if it’s not at Legend Valley next year.
I haven’t listened to it much, but the little I’ve heard has been pretty bland. Softy Pillow Man stood out the most, but the lyrics and concept seemed pretty dumb. I’ll give it all a real listen soon.
Was the GOTJ extra rowdy this year or sumpin?

More rowdy than normal, at times, and yet chiller than normal also. A lot more people this year. Car pass parking was strictly controlled when the gates first opened. We were told where we were camping, versus having somewhat of a choice. The owner hired private security this year and is running every festival like Lost Lands or Excision. (Which honestly I would be doing the same if I was the owner.
As has been documented at length, many outsiders (influencers) on hand for their own gain.
I saw nitrous tank confiscation, a gun arrest (warranted), and multiple fights (that were recorded). Also, a blown up porto potty (which hasn’t happened in a few years).
Security would swarm an area as soon as a firework went off.
A lot more people = a lot more trash left behind.
And this has happened before, but a ninja sadly passed away on the last day. RIP homie.
The above are all things I visually witnessed (unfortunately including the loss of life). My crew and I still had a blast, stayed safe, and I personally don’t have any real complaints. But I can see that GOTJ has run it’s course at Legend Valley.
I could very well be wrong, as I’m sure a lot of $$$ was brought in to Thornville this year. And all the issues I listed above are typical of any big festival. Something just felt “final” about this year to me. And my intuition is typically pretty good for whatever reason.
Time will tell…

Thanks for the summary!
Sounds a bit shitty, but also I know every person experiences their own world at festivals.
Was the death an O.D.?
Somehow the influencers part upsets me as well. It was inevitable during these modern streaming times that outsiders would be attracted to the beauty of the GOTJ, I just don’t want to believe it. I want to pretend they don’t exist.
On a plus side, I’ve been living in Vermont for four years, and this Juggalo regular customer at the dispensary I’ve been at, he went foe his first time this year. He had a fucking blast. I’m happy for him.

So… I’ve finally gotten to listen to The Naught, in it’s entirety. The way it was supposed to be listened to (in my truck, on a 1.5 hour trip up and 1.5 trip down). And let me tell you…
This album is way, way, WAY better than I expected!
After the fuzzy phone and low volume YouTube listens here and there, I thought this was fixing to be the worst 2nd Deck disc yet.
Nope. It is great!
I implore you all to bump this in your ride, if you have one.
Anyways, there isn’t a skippable track after two full listens. The only one that wasn’t super dope to me was “Here We Go”. I’ll have to play that again.
To me, Violent J sounds more enthusiastic and controlled than he has in years. He seems like he’s having fun. His flows are reminiscent of his weed-smoking, jogging era… sort of like Hell’s Pit era. The only drawback is that his older man’s voice with the dental work is noticeable, but far less than recent outputs. He doesn’t sound so mush-mouthed. And when he does, he doesn’t sound so geriatric.
We get a lot more Shaggy 2 Dope than usual, and in this day and age, thats a good thing. The man has become a way more concise rapper with age.
The beats hit and sound so good in a vehicle. The bass, the samples. Some would say they’re playing to nostalgia with the samples, but most of those lyrics are deep cuts that only Juggalos know.
Yum Yum Bedlam, an album I was super hyped for, ended up not keeping my interest much. Little replay value.
I don’t know how to rate these albums of the 2nd deck, for now I’m feeling like they’re all great except most of Yum Yum Bedlam and The Missing Links (although I treasure some songs off of those, they’re just inconsistent and bogged down by a weird tone, bland Otis beats, and the whole Christian feel).
Give this album a chance. I love it.

Here are the production credits. I only knew that MEC made “Softy Pillow Man” until now. Strangely enough, my least favorite tracks were all mostly produced by Shaggy The Airhead.
This revelation furthers my conviction that Kuma and MEC are the best overall producers for ICP. I also enjoy Mike P, but his input was minimal here.
I had to include where I first read that old rhyme from those Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark books. It’s what closes out the album and it put a smile on my face.
A very, very strong album. If i were to rate it in the old way, I’d say ☆☆☆☆ out of ☆☆☆☆☆.
Honestly I’m amazed these 50 year old fellas can still kick this much ass.
The right production is important, that is certain.

But yes, I haven’t played the album since the summer, I’ve just been busy as fuck.
But I have finally received my “Cabin in the Sky” De La Soul album. And it’s fantastic. I implore you all to listen to it.
