cry It's a very sad and dark time for the UK

This week we learnt that half of our country has opposite views to one-another and want us isolated from the rest of Europe. I personally think that's stupid as fuck and now we have just fucked our country forever. Feels like we going back in time to the 70s and before where hatred for "foreigners" is rife and the old school English/British pride is back. They keep saying we need to bring the "Great" back into Great Britain. Even though we are clearly totally divided.

It all sounds like world war II mentality to me and I hate the English being THAT English ! Crumpets and tea chaps, Oh rather!  What the fuck have we ever had to be proud of?? We done nothing to the world other than fuck it trying to force our fucking reign, royal family and religion on people and colonize countries. How the fuck are we "Great Britain" or ever been?

Anyway too much rant. I feel a bit dirty and embarrassed to be English right now and have been really interested to see what your opinions (if any) are as pretty sure most of this site is Americans and Canadians

TOTALLY UNDERSTAND THAT NO ONE SHOULD GIVE A SHIT THOUGH lol (it's boring and irrelevant I guess)

Honestly, @bodeebagz  i have to claim ignorance as i don't really know what it means for England/Europe. Maybe someone can fill me in/elaborate more on what OP already stated above? Or maybe you yourself can? I'm definitely interested.

Is it basically the royal family and their followers succeeding from the nation (or the other way around)? Does that mean something similar to the northern vs southern Ireland conflict?

But they haven't left the EU. And won't for some time if they even do.

The referendum result is not legally binding - Parliament still has to pass the laws that will get Britain out of the 28 nation bloc, starting with the repeal of the 1972 European Communities Act.

The withdrawal agreement also has to be ratified by Parliament - the House of Lords and/or the Commons could vote against ratification, according to a House of Commons library report.

The vote was nothing more than to see what the public opinion of it was. The actual government can still do whatever they want at the risk of angering the voters.

Best thing you could have done economically. As far as defense wise you still have NATO. Remember that UK is actually one of the richer economic forces in the EU so the money sharing really hurts you guys like it does Germany and France. Of course I am not an economics master but from my understanding of basic numbers the UK is easily one of the top contributers in the European Union.

I believe the GDP will go up as will the quality of life index.

Your defense issues will not change much as you still have NATO.

Your external relations with non-military powers may hurt a little because they rely on you.

EDIT: I double checked. Germany, France, UK and Italy maked up MOST of the EU's entire budget. Yeah you guys made the right move big time.

That's interesting to hear your point of view because most people I know here in the Midwestern United States see it as a good thing, like yay the common people taking back their country from the big bad EU lol.  (In general, the people around where I live see the EU as being a negative thing, btw).  I don't really have an opinion on it, I don't know enough about it to.  That's interesting what psyral said though, and I do hope that your government goes with what the people voted on.

my thoughts. though i hadnt heard anything about it till yesterday morning.

honestly, makes sense. and you guys still own australia. so there is that. at least you guys are overshadowed by the chinese like australia is. (not being racist, but pragmatic. the minute we turn republic the chinese will put plans into motion to over take the country. they already own like 80% of the oil and gas industry, wouldnt take very long, 20 years at the most part before we become republic of china.)
