I forget where; if it was here or somewhere else. but when the album came out I remember mentioning how ironic it was that the chorus is basically "unlike everybody else, WE'LL never do anything to disappoint you!" when they have that homophobic bullshit in there. Which is needless to say incredibly disappointing.

More reason to re-acknowledge that EVERYONE is full of shit at some point... ICP... Twiztid...The Butthole Surfers... Janis Joplin... Starland Vocal Band... let's just try and focus on the music.. as hard as it is...

Tied for stupidest line from Madrox in that song. He should just leave politics alone. He has established before his hatred of Obama in "Sad Christmas Song" as well. It just sounds dumb. Even talking about Trump is hackneyed to me. I just dont feel politics mesh into their styles.

"The president is prejudiced against you and me-" etc etc... juvenile stuff. Not sure how my boy Jamie can make those kinds of lines sound more juvenile than his sexual lyrics in tracks like "Old School Pervert", but he does.

I think the idea behind the bernie line is more about calling him a "limousine liberal", as it were

I kind of got that as he (seemingly) would know the difference between the two words, and he was likely just stylizing the phrase. Something lots of hip hop artists and musicians in general do. Kind of making a double entendre by combining two similar yet dissimilar words and sounds.... but ultimately I just dont enjoy then rapping about politicians. Doing this also puts a halt to the potential timelessness that a song could obtain by not being overly specific to current events. I'm aware that not every song has to or is trying to be timeless, but the fact remains that it can date shit quick.

For instance, say I did a song in the 90's and rapped about how I did or didnt like goddamned Ross Perot lol. Or I could do one from a couple years back about Julie Stein. Who the fuck cares?

Does anyone here get any enjoyment from that? Maybe I'm approaching it wrong. When Violent J rapped in COC about some crooked Govenor E. or whomever, do y'all instantly Google the guy and try to research his practises from the early 90's to see how the lyrics fit the opinion's context? Seeing as how most people dont know the politicians of Michigan (especially at the time when we had to head to a library to research), it is a localized rap subject. Of course Obama, Hillary, Trump and Bernie are far huge in scope, but in ten years the rap artists arent likely going to be using them for subject matter.

Do y'all hear Tyler the Creator or Travis Scott referencing Bob Dole?

Also, Trump, Hillary and Obama are much more "socialites" in the original sense if the word than Bernie.

Socialite

Description

A socialite is a person who plays a prominent role in high society. A socialite spends a significant amount of time attending various fashionable social gatherings.

Twiztid suck at politics.

I don't think either are politically literate but it seems their stance will always be that all politicians suck. Which would be a more well received stance if either showed any amount of political literacy outside of the sensational.

I prefer their more vague things like from Mostasteless and the Obama line from A Sad Christmas Song didn't bother me because it didn't seem like it was necessarily aimed at him more so just the government in general. This song was obviously playing off of sensationalized opinions and it obviously shows a lack of understanding, nuance and independent thought when it comes to questioning the accuracy of articles looking to sell outrage. As I've already pointed out, it's really ironic coming from them since they are victims of the same unresearched reactionary opinions of people addicted to drama.

Though the intent of the song is pretty cool, personally I'd much rather they took the JPEGMAFIA route and went with a thing I've preached around here for years which is not to idolize people because everybody is flawed. Instead the song went to "idolize us because we won't let you down like them" which is just arrogant dishonesty holding themselves to a standard that they obviously can't reach being as how the Tyler, the Creator line kind of let a lot of people down. Nobody is perfect, not even Twiztid. I always thought Twiztid's stance was to become your own idol over celebrity worship.

I thought No Breaks was a good example of them being political though. Or even on Apple I felt they were really speaking for the people who were most effected by the recession. Here, eh.

Going back to read the lyrics and I'm not exactly sure if Jamie is really condemning everybody in his verse. Like, does he also have a problem with Mac Miller for dying?

For those that dislike Twiztid doing metal songs.

Is it the metal or is it Twiztid doing metal?

I had a stage where all i listened to was metal. I can dig Twiztid occasionally doing it.

Yeah bitches, im that short gentleman mentioned in that youtube video.

And the very nice, level headed guy from that other youtube video.

I think, for a lot of people, it isn't Twiztid doing metal, but maybe the kind of metal that they are currently creating.

With the emphasis on Jamie's style of (arguably) "emo" singing, it tends to become a jarring tonal shift for long-time listeners.

They have been experimenting with this style since the early days, admittedly. And it isn't even "metal" for the most part. Different kinds of rock are being played with. And that's cool to me. I really dont like most of their newer, post-Psychopathic songs, but I don't only dislike the emotional rock songs. They do a great job at them, usually. For instance, I like most of the rock tracks off of "Mutant".

I really dislike "Majik Spells", however. I admit to it's catchiness. But man, the entire package of the song, video and vibe just aren't my idea of enjoyable Twiztid. However, I get how someone else can enjoy it and appreciate it.

Feels like Twiztid (primarily Madrox) are doing what they want to be doing with their music right now, for better or worse. Madrox looks up to nu metal icons like Linkin Park and earlier metal singers.  I think he wants to be on the level of Linkin Park. I'm not a fan of them, either, but I can respect em. And for Monoxide? My guess is he admires the stylings of Benjamin Franklin, primarily. Kidding, relax.

It ain't nothing new. They've been sprinkling rock in their shit for twenty years. I'm in the camp that doesnt really care for it except in small bursts.

I cant listen to mutant for that reason.

The new album is fucking phenomenal. If you actually sit down and listen to just the sound and beat selection on that album, you'll see that there is nothing quite like that out there.

Majik Spells on its own wasnt a great song. In the context of the entire album it just works. They really did hit on what they failed to hit with their last album which had like 3 memorable songs.

This was a really cool video by the way.

I'll let y'all get back to your breakdown of madroxs "homophobic" lyrics and how Twiztid thinks they are your heroes.

Juggalos are the fucking worst.

A) I'm not a juggalo.

B) Dissecting lyrics like we are is actually much much more common outside of juggalo culture. Like, honestly a lot of juggalo lyrics are just flat out fucking retarded even when they're trying to be taken seriously which is probably why juggalos are less critical of lyrical content. I'm huge fan of Twiztid, I loved this album and I loved this song. That doesn't mean it's above criticism. Nothing is above criticism.

C) Russ fans are the worst.

Little known fact: Tyler Durden is a Juggalo. Before his major role in Fight Club he made the rules for Juggalo Club.

The first rule of Juggalo Club is: Deny your a Juggalo.

The second rule of Juggalo Club is: Deny that your a Juggalo

That's not a bad lyric. He is just borrowing Otis Redding. That song is awesome, too. "CNT".

I always thought it would make a good gay porno title. "Sittin' on the Cock of the Gay".

Cnt is a good song but that's easily one of the worst filler/set up lines ive ever heard from them..
