Marijuana has hallucinogenic properties and if you've ever done psychedelics then you know what that means. Also, after smoking like a chimney for years when you embrace your sober mind it causes serious reflection and an enlightening perception.
So he doesn't fuck with Jane anymore... reasons and justifications vary person to person and no one should be judged on that.
