I have to give it a few more listens but I think my main issue is I was under the impression TurnCoat Dirty was supposed to be a more gangster/regular hip hop style compared to the elements that tend to make up Boondox’s music normally…this really just sounded like a lot of Boondox’s other music rather than standing out on its own (aside from having the other guy all over the hooks)…aside from the guy doing the hooks though it just sounds like another Boondox project so idk why he felt the need to call it a TurnCoat Dirty joint…could have easily just been a Boondox ep or whatever

not tryna hate though Boondox is actually cool as shit and I’ve always enjoyed his stuff so yeah I gotta give it some more spins 

I was taken completely by surprise. I’m familiar with the older TCD stuff, but in the time between that and this point in Boondox’s career, Southern Rap has expanded very much, with palpable representation in the underground. So I had no clue where he was gonna take this, if it was gonna be like a more thugged out version of the type of stuff Jelly Roll does or any of his contemporaries that I can’t name, or what.

But nope, this is definitely an album from the mind behind the skarcrow. Maybe more deranged outlaw than backwoods murderer, but there’s still a dark, Juggalo vibe to it. The rap’s mostly solid, the sound is pretty distinct, so it doesn’t seem like a bunch of b-sides that wouldn’t fit on a typical Boondox album. I dug it, and I side think I would. You can tell this is him giving the sound and texture he always wanted to the idea. No reason a Boondox fan wouldn’t enjoy this.

One thing that I’ve heard a lot about MNE is that the records they’re putting out are good, but there’s an overwhelming amount of Jamie hooks on the songs.  Seeing as how Redd is getting some love for his contributions on this one, it seems like he would be good to take some of the burden off of Jamie in a positive way on future releases.

Goddamn could you imagine having to deal with a fuckin TEENAGER!??  Pretty sure it wasnt a consistent 2 years of MMA training LOL.  Dave always like to exaggerate, like when he was doing that P90 X.  He said when he “gets shredded” hes getting a huge back piece tattoo.  For some reason, I remember that from IG.   Even at the time, it seemed like…..dude….cmon!  haha 

Anyway, I’ll need to check this new Boondox.  I dig his raps.
