Man’s Myth very high.. what do you like about that album the most? I found it mostly abysmal.

to my mind, mans myth is the last ‘complete’ twiztid album.
not to say its the greatest shit [although i love the fuck outta several of those cuts], but after that is when the drift toward ‘new’ twiztid became reeeal obvious.
mans myth and before, that pretty much nails twiztids model sound, for me. except freekshow.
yes, i realize that this is fundamentally incorrect, and that in reality twiztid defines and modifies their sound independent of that sorta armchair analysis.
tough fuckin luck; its my brain, not theirs, not yours.

so high is their best weed song. works out live much, much better than the others.
get it right, wont die, karma, basicly about the first half of the album is solid gold.
the entity is kind of a rehash, but i love the beat.

I can agree with this. However, I do have to ask, why do you have freekshow as an exception? Personal preferences aside (unless it is just a personal preference). To me, that’s about as “classic”/”complete” of a Twiztid album as you’re gonna get.

it aint so much that its an exception, really, just… doesnt quite whet my appetite.
like me and dangerous were sayin, strange relation. for me, kinda like a relative that i dont really hang with; theyre cool, theyre fun, of course i got love for em… we just dont kick it much.
doesnt stop it from bein a classic. maybe i think its a lil overrated, but classic nonetheless.
its almost entirely a personal preference.

Yup pretty much how I feel too. Maybe you just hear those songs so often at live shows it really kills the album. I haven’t listened to Freak Show in well over 10 years. Dunno, to me its just not an album you pop in and bump….
Oh, and being overrated…..completely.

But during the time it came out, it was completely fuckin devastating. I’ll give it that for sure.

i felt about the same when it was new as i do now. mostasteless is a better album.
part of it, im sure, is that mostasteless had mike all over it, and the switchup kinda threw me. just me, but i think most of the freekshow beats are inferior to the bulk of their works.

Freekshow, if my memory serves (I also haven’t listened to it much in around a decade)… seems to have more simplistic lyrics that Mostasteless before it… maybe it doesn’t, but somehow I recall it being more juvenile overall.
My wife got me the cassette on its release date. I remember sitting in a couch by the window, observing it. Weird memory.
We Don’t Die is the self-titled Sublime album. It is “Far Beyond Driven” by Pantera. Even “The Great Milenko” by ICP… we all heard it so so so much… like Chicken Huntin… that it grates on our ears unless we take at least a 6 year break from it. It’s still a great song, classic. But it will never be fresh again.
Like how you can only enjoy listening to the slightly less popular tracks by all above… I can’t bump “Santeria” again for years without it sounding played out.. so perhaps “”Jailhouse” will suffice… “A New Level”? I’d rather bump Bieber. Gotta try “No Good (Attack the Radical)… fuck “Piggy Pie” up its piggy ass… I’ll listen to “Just Like That” once then put Milenko away for six years. I dont want classic shit to become stale forever.
Icp touch on this. Shaggs: “why does néw shit become old so quick?”
Moving right along.. Freekshow is still great. “Fall Apart”… “Where Itz Goin Down”… “Maniac Killa”… “Different”… “I’m Alright”… great songs… but I’m playing them sparingly, as not to diminish their quality.
Also one of my favorite lines from Madrox ever “We walk through walls, sleep wi th the bats, been to heaven and hell and still can’t relax”.. I always took it to be about chronic anxiety… you’ve seen everything and experience the highest highs and lowest lows, but still get nervous in regular situations. I could relate more then, as I was a nervous teenager who was more at ease in chaos than sitting in a classroom or being social with people.

I always felt like Wicked was one of my favorites of all time. It’s only second to Green Book because that album seemed complete and relatable to me. Freek show I always viewed as highly overrated.

The Green Book was so so great when it was released. Our iconic campfire album. Someone mentioned on here thst it hasn’t aged well, and I can see that in a way.
If they kept Speculationz off there, and Nikateen, a couple more.. swapped em with better tracks, that shit would be close to perfect.
Didja know that they tried to get Jonathan Davis on “Darkness”, he politely declined, but told Twiztid that he “loved it”. He said it was the perfect track about the isolation of being a musician on the road and in the studio all the time.
Also, speaking of “So High” off of Man’s Myth, anyone watch that mostly terrible Chong movie called “Evil Bong”? I think that was the title, anyway… had that song in it and a couple more PSY ditties.

I rememebr living in a tiny apartment with my brother, and I played “Bobby’s Dad” and he told me to turn that shit off cus he was trying to sleep lol… and this is the dude that died wearing a Twiztid jersey lol… even he hated that song.

It’s just confusing. Like on “Listen” he goes from confident to despair in a jarring way, and “Heartbreaker” he speaks of his dad in negative and positive ways. I can relate to that, though.
Anyway, I’m glad I’m not the only one that still makes CD-R’s. Gonna make one of the new Tribe so I can play it wi th out worry of scratching it.

i wasnt embarrassed by their paul simon records [they were mostly simon n garfunkel]. in fact, a few years ago, on some family road trip shit, i think my mom was mildly embarrassed that i was blasting paul simon. but the alternative was, ya know, esham n shit.
he is a fuckin beast. not everything he does is my shit, but still.

you end up with a buncha rhymes that you think are dope, but they contradict themselves, somehow.
you got two choices: rewrite it, sometimes meaning completely rewrite it; or live with it, cuz you already think its dope.
most rappers will go with option two. based on the conversations ive had about it.
ever notice how often a rappers story will change tense, or point of view, in the middle of the story? same kinda thing. fixin it means movin syllables around, which means rewrite.

I love my dad, we’ve had some insane times though. It’s honestly hard to believe. He wants me to write his autobiography, too.
Anyway.. back to verses n such… that bit reminded me of Kurious aka Kurious George on “I’m Kurious” starting out the final bars with “verse three, subject matters lighter..” and goes from there, and he shows without literally saying how the process of making the song has relaxed him, and gotten a bit of the strife out. I felt like that when my friend n brother were playing guitar and asked me to sing some random stuff. I have an extremely deep voice and yelled out crazy shit like wiping my ass with concrete blocks.. at the end I felt almoat nirvana like with calm. A bit empty, too, but I can see how yall musicians can get into the act of vocalizing and singing or screaming. Cathartic may be the word. I never sang much after that, though. I respect it, but not for me.

Damn, I find Green Book to be the perfect Twiztid album. (It’s also my favorite Twiztid album so I could be a bit biased in that respect.) They always said that was their album, made the way they wanted. I look at it as the first time they showed they could be doing it without PSY.
And, Bobby’s Dad is one of my favorite tracks on there lol.
