All you need to know is this: the difference between smoking weed and talking about “you know what’d be dope?” and actually doing something dope is astronomical both financially and in work load.
i wouldnt say its all you need to know; but whether you own your own company or not, if youre gonna be gettin high, you should know this first.

I love twiztid, but i honestly don’t see MNE being around in 3-5 years. I hope I’m wrong as I don’t know anything about the industry, but it doesn’t seem like any progress is being made at this point from the record label’s perspective. It’s kinda just there. When I think about ICP, I think about PSY, when I think about twiztid it doesn’t always even register to me that they have a label.

@bayareashaman I feel like PSY/ICP could attract the more casual type fan and overall would allow a new Boondox project a little more exposure. Now I know PSY is infamous for not promoting other acts on the label like they should but even knowing that fact I’d still say the scale would tip in PSY’s favor. I don’t think most casual fans will do enough diggin to find out about MNE and most mainstream rap fans will look at the name of MNE’s label and automatically dismiss everybody on the label as a joke, even though I don’t agree with that stance that’s how slot of ppl are. Even the fans that do look up MNE will probably be turned off by the fact that its basically like somebody said earlier, PSY 2.0 and there’s nothin really new or fresh or original to be found
"How come there ain't enough for everyone, how come you can't take back the shit that you've done?"

I think they will be here. I don’t know if they will be as big as they wanted but I I’m sure MNE will still be around. Scum, SickTanicK and Mars all still run their labels. Twiztid has had years of learning from ICP.

I don’t understand what a “record company” really is anymore. I mean, a company like PSY doesn’t do it’s own distribution (not that it matters since everything happens online anyways), and they’re not out there doing heavy advertising and publicity. So if you’re “signed” to PSY, that means you get to record in the Lotus Pod, you get some exposure from the fact that fans of other PSY artists will find out who you are, and PSY’s going to take a cut for that. And isn’t that pretty much it? Any artist can do for themselves almost all of what PSY or MNE does for them. It’s not like it used to be when you had to rely on a record company to get the physical product into stores and get your shit played on the radio to sell anything.

yeah, pretty much.
‘mainstream’ part of the industry is still kinda holdin on to the old model, but not for much longer.

not any artist. as i noted above, theres still plenty of artists out there that would wither and die immediately if they didnt have a record label doin everything for em.

That is a good point, and probably says something about the artists who get caught up in all the “record label” drama.

So I guess the title of this thread needs to be edited to reflect the reality that Magic Ninja does not want to sign Boondox.
You could just tell from that periscope shit that Monoxide has no enthusiasm for Boonie.
Bukshot will probably try to sign Boondox, because it would boost the profile of his Mobstyle label like 5000 percent.
I’m sure just judging by the facebook reaction to the Faygoluvers story in the last few days, that Boondox can still sell a few thousand copies of a new record to his die hard fan base, no matter where he ends up.
