So Mono said on Instagram yesterday that MNE is eyeing another artist to sign.  I wonder who we're dealing with this time.

IMO, signing lots of artists isn't really a problem.  It's not costing MNE any extra money to do this because it appears they're just doing distribution deals and taking a cut of merch sales, and in return the artists get a lot of exposure and they jump on tours when it fits into their schedule.  I believe Twiztid and Blaze are the only ones they have who are making an actual living from a rap career, and I don't know for sure Blaze is even on that status at this moment to be honest.

I see people saying they're going for quantity over quality, but that it isn't really true.  The majority of what they release has been good quality; it just looks like a ridiculous volume of stuff coming out in rapid succession for the sake of putting it out.  But if you look at it, they're putting time into these projects before they come out.  At least a year in between major releases for every artist with some mixtapes composed of stuff that didn't make the album thrown in as bonus releases.  It's a lot of stuff because there's 10 or 12 arists / groups who are trading off month by month on their releases.

Anyway, who do you think they're gonna get?  Keeping in mind that it could be someone who already technically runs their own label and just wants a better distribution deal.  Here's the names that come to my mind as possibilities:

  • Lo Key
  • Sicktanick
  • Madchild and/or Swollen Members
  • Jokerr
  • Kung Fu Vampire
  • Razakel
  • Dieabolik

KFV and Mad Child are kind of bigger artist with their own distribution already in place. Signing to MNE would not benefit them, other than getting back doored in to the Juggalo "Family".

Jokerr, he does not even rap that often and sticks to production and behind the scenes stuff.

The other four would be great guesses.

That's fair.  Jokerr did rap a lot a few years ago.  I have 7 of his albums, and he's a good rapper with clear Juggalo influence.  That's the only reason I put him on my speculation list.  He'd also be a little dangerous because he doesn't have a fuse when it comes to people criticizing him.

I support what MNE is doing. They will gain more respect from a lot of us if they stop the subliminals and shit.

I hope ABK stays independent from them. I just kind of dig what he does and how he has gone about things lately.

Maybe they'll sign Ill E. Gal. A female would be an admirable addition.

I hope it's none of those.  Kfv has said he is staying independent. He's got his own thing going.

Lo key, razakel, sicktanic have all been around. They haven't popped off yet. Can't really see them getting signed and breaking out big for it.

Jokerr is whack.

Madchild is better off without jumping in with twiztid.

I don't know dieabolik. It could be him or them. Axe is probably going to be the only horrorcore name signed in a while tho.

I would like to see them do what they did with lex. Take someone who was just getting his foot into the door and help him out. Would be dope if it was a woman. Or a band. Or something unexpected but still dope.

I was saying Sicktanick or Razakel because SKR just abruptly folded last year and completely shut down their operations after Razakel left.  They had half a dozen other artists, too.  Not saying either of them are really my cup of tea, but that would get them back on the map without having to rebuild from scratch.

And for Lo Key, he has a good independent grind and always reps Juggalo.  He got himself into trouble when he did that gofundme to get a trailer and do non-stop nationwide touring but quickly realized that he's big in a very small circle, so selling enough tickets to offset travel costs in random cities didn't work.

That's dicey.  AXE said the same thing, and UGA faked their own death until they got a good deal.

He's indie.  He's a former AXE member, but his solo stuff is chopper style.  They only have one other chopper (Otis), and he only does that sometimes.

And Madchild?  I'll agree with your sentiments.  He's relevant on his own.  I just thought it would be dope for them to sign someone like that.

I don't fuck with them at all but that's actually a pretty reasonable guess. Not huge but making noise. Not on any underground labels that have some weight to them already. Plus they are part of that "I'm not horrorcore I'm real hip hop" sound that twiztid like.

If they was to sign BBS, wouldn't that just add to the whole "beef"?

I mean, weren't BBS responsible for violence against juggalos at the DCGCon?

Despite having a fucking dozen groups on their label, the only album I enjoy from MNE is Evilution.
I don't even like Muerte, and I've ALWAYS been an AMB fan.
MNE music lacks soul, it's literally all the same, generic, watered down horrorcore trash.
MNE= Quantity>Quality
If you don't see that, sorry fam, your opinion is fucking wrong.

-PS, if you reply with "psychopathic this" or "psychopathic that," fuckin' eat a dick up kid, I'm not talking about psychopathic, I'm talking about MNE. Also not talking about Strange, SKR, LSP, fucking EMI, Sony, Death Row, Ruthless or what-the-fuck-ever, don't get it Twiztid (like your washed up, turncoat, money hungry, has-been, trash idols)

What's Lo Key's label situation?

I know he use to have that mission infect thing going on.  That use to be one of my favorite crews. Grewsum had alot of potential. And T.O.N.E-z was really really good. He could of been as good as Tech N9ne I believe if he commited more. He had that horrorcore sound that coulda been perceived well with the mainstream also.  That's important to have people like that. I like that Tech N9ne went alittle mainstream because it brings attention to the horrorcore/juggalo world but he still stays true to himself

Lo Key, to me, is one of the most underrated rappers of all time. Him and Q-Strange. He’s an amazing story teller and a great lyricist. When he does some of his story songs, he keeps you entertained the whole way through and has a great flow too. The House 2 EP is one of the best CDs ever. I always wanted him and Q-Strange to do a collaborative album together. Like a Freddy vs Jason type concept.

I was never a huge Lo Key fan, but I have to say that he would be a great asset to MNE. From videos, drawings and designs, this guy is a true artist. Plus he can rap, horrorcore or just straight hip hop. MNE would also be great for him for obvious reasons.

Shit now I kinda hope they sign Loke lol.

I remember talking with both Sicktanick and Razakel on their SKR forums, at the time they were both dating. I wonder what happened and why SKR folded?

Hell yeah dude.  That 80's style (15 minute) horror movie he did a few years back was fuckin epic!

I agree, Lokey, is an artists artist.  What an asset he would be to any label or company, really.
