Did NOFX replace ICP as the "World's Most Hated Band?" According to band leader Fat Mike on twitter that might be the case!
NOFX “banned” from playing in the US
NOFX report that they’ve been “banned” from playing shows in the US.
It comes after Fat Mike and Eric Melvin caused uproar when they made unsavoury comments about the victims of the 2017 Las Vegas massacre while playing a show in the city last month.
They were subsequently kicked off their own Punk In Drublic festival, while the event also lost sponsorship from Stone Brewing Co. who make the NOFX beer and who were sponsors of the event.
Now, Fat Mike has checked in with an update on their touring situation in the US – and says they’ve “effectively been banned" in their own country.
He says: “Fuck it! I’m not supposed to talk about it, but because of the comments we made in Las Vegas, every NOFX show has been cancelled in the US.
“We did not drop off the shows, we were told that NOFX is not welcome to play any big venue in the United States. No joke! NOFX has effectively been banned in our own country. This is not our choice, but it is our reality.
“We are very sorry to our fans, especially the ones in Austin. For now, we are playing in Europe, Mexico and Canada.
“The Punk In Drublic festival is still happening in Europe and other continents. I’m trying my best to bring it back to the US but a lot of people don’t want it to happen.
“It fuckin’ sucks! We made a mistake, we apologised, and we gotta suffer the consequences. Maybe it ain’t fair, but whoever said life was?
“We are just very thankful that our fans are being so supportive. Thanks to all of you.”
After they were booted from the US leg of the Punk In Drublic festival, event organisers said they would make a donation to a fund set up to support those affected by the mass shooting.
Lone gunman Stephen Paddock opened fire on people from a hotel room window who were attending a country music festival in the city in October last year, leaving more than 50 dead and 527 injured.
For those wondering what joke they're referring to. Here's the video in question

Now let's go ahead and have a discussion about all this. Did NOFX fuck up bad by making the joke about the las vegas shooting, and was their series of apologizes the right route to go, or is them being "banned" from playing large venues and music festivals in the United States justifiable or is it all 2 much? What do you guys think?
Honestly I think the "ban" is a bit of an overkill. I also think they said the joke waaaaaay 2 soon and it was a joke that in this time of age with all the debates about gun control and what not, that it was not only tasteless but tho the band is insanely famous for making some tasteless and semi-racist jokes live on stage. But yeah I feel it's a bit 2 much. They apologized not once but twice from this. But hey. What do I know, I'm just some fat crazy guy rambling lol. What do you think?

Pop punk deserves to stay in the 2000s. Fuck Good Charlotte, Blink 182, NOFX, Green Day, Fall Out Boy and Sum41.
Last I checked, NOFX wasn't considered pop punk since umm that would constitute actually being played on the radio and they ruined that one twice when they told radio and MTV to go fuck themselves in 1996.
This is from the back of their 6th album Heavy Petting Zoo (known as Eating Lamb on the LP version)

First off, Pop as a genre isn't defined by radio play. And they fit very tightly into the 'pop punk' subgenre. Maybe even alternative rock. Meaning they took a genre and made it easily digestible with catchy hooks and simplistic yet familiar song structures which actually completely contradicts the intent of punk music which was meant to be a come back to pretentious metal and rock bands like Led Zeppelin by rebelling against the idea that rock needed to be technically proficient and structurally sound with dudes that just wailed on guitars as they belligerently scream into microphones.
This? This shows me that they were trying to keep the appearance of being punk by giving us this half assed presentation of what punk rock is. They wanted us to think they didn't give a fuck but putting forth the effort to harass 'commercial labels' proving that they actually did give a fuck. They watered down and spoon fed you this sugary sweet pop music disguised as punk and you ate it up because you're gullible. Congrats. PS. Pop music can be underground too.
