@violentdope  "..Incubus opened for them before they got soft during their S.C.I.E.N.C.E album...great show.."

I loved that album and even their EP Enjoy Incubus. I loved their metalish/funk kinda style and having the DJ was the thing back then but when they came out with Make Yourself they totally went a different direction. They still have a few songs over the years I thought were ok but I would love it if they did SCIENCE in its entirety....dare to dream

Saying you like Pantera as a metal head isn't very surprising is it? What does surprise me is how little Great Southern Trendkill gets mentioned when their name comes up. It's usually either Vulgar Display or Cowboys. Trendkill was the last "fuck do we love us some heroin" album they did and it shows through. That album is fucking brutal. Like junkies without a fix, brutal. Not quite on par with Deicide but there are parts that indicate they were being heavily influenced by what Cannibal Corpse and a lot of bands were doing at the time.

There's a high chance I'm going to see Coal Chamber when they hit up Columbus, OH but what did any one think of Winter Kills? I know it's DevilDriver not Coal Chamber but DevilDriver is so good I want them to be talked about lol.

I love Trendkill. It starts off so brutal with the title track. Goes into War Nerve and just keeps on going. Really captures the true depth of the bands metal style. Nothin like some good southern groove metal blended with their brutal thrash style. I even enjoyed reinventing the steel. *Sigh* I miss that style of metal. I just can't get into these newer bands/styles. I see the line up for Mayhem each year and realize Im set in my ways for my taste of metal and the majority of those bands(especially 2nd stages) are just not my cup of tea anymore. 5FDP,Asking Alexandria and all those other newer main stagers just don't do it for me. Hell even Korn and Manson just don't get me pumped. As much as Godsmack isn't particularly metal, I thought they played really well on Mayhem and had a good set. Its just not worth it for me to go anymore. I hope the GOTJ has a metal band or two like in 2014. Cannibal Corpse is always fun to see and Biohazard was good too even though Evan isn't singing they still kicked ass. Maybe Fear Factory again. Hell even Coal Chamber since they got a new album coming out.

BTW Filter opening up for Coal Chamber...odd. I know Short Bus was kinda alt metalish but if they play "Take a Picture" shit might go sour real fast. But then again what do I know lol. Woulda liked to of seen Helmet open up for CC

@phreakcore  wish I got to see white zombie...el sexorcisto and Astro creep is the shit..Ive seen Rob Zombie a few times but I only really enjoyed Hellbilly deluxe which is a great record too..his voice is going out so live hes not that great anymore...Deftones is one of my fav bands...seen them 7 or 8 times and they are the shit...crosses is the shit too...their album is amazing.great live too. chino is hit and miss sometimes but everytime I seen them Chino was on his shit and sounded good but ya his voice sometimes cracks...I think its from all the years singing/ screaming strains that shit bad....same with Corey from Slipknot... I agree with the metal scene these days is lacking...seems that way with every genre of music these days..lamb of god is the shit ..they have a new record coming out and going on tour this summer with Slipknot..hope to make it to that..Gojira is a great metal band from france that is insanely dope live...check them out..one of my favs...Meshuggah too is monsterous live..amazing really...I love all Pantera's albums really...except anything before Cowboys sux imo..lol trendkill and reinventing I thought were both great records...I love groove metal...shit that gets me moving I cant get enough of.....

I saw fear factory at knotfest last year and burton bell really cant sing for shit...lol sounds terrible live.

Filter with Coal Chamber is weird..only song I like is hey man nice shot is cool..self titled coal chamber is classic...after that they were hit and miss with me but hopefully they come back with a great record...looking forward to it.weed_gif

I was a huge Korn fan back in the day...they kinda lost me with their recent albums...Their first 3 records were phenomenal..in vegas korn has a club show playing self titled front to back...wish I could have made that but im broke atm...

Im still a big Manson fan..The Pale emperor I thought was pretty good..I do miss the old pissed off fuck the world Manson though...I dont think that will be happening again.

5fdp is the most over rated shit Ive ever heard or seen...it was cool to see tech come out  and do momma said knock you out though...

Glad to hear others know how good of an album that was/is. Fuckin Dime was at his best on that one, as was Vinnie Paul, which I typically find to be overrated as fuck. Since you said you can't get into newer bands, I have to throw you some recommendations, man. Lamb of God first and foremost. They define themselves as "Pure American Metal", ala Pantera, Metallica, Slayer, and their music shows the influences very well.

The quality of this video is shit but I think you'll get the point.

Yeah, I plan on just smoking outside and getting drunk before Coal Chamber comes on. I've always had a liking for Godsmack but I would call them "alternative rock" more than metal. This doesn't belong on this topic but their acoustic album is very, very good.

@violentdope I know Chino had throat surgery a few years back so I'm sure thats gotta take its toll. I will still check em out live if they are in my area. A lot of people who have seen them said the same thing about Chinos vocals but hey they are still a great band and talented musicians its not just all about Chino...least they are still goin. Shame on Fear Factory, I haven't seen em in at least 4 years. I remember seeing Slayer at Mayhem a few years back and Tom Arayas vocals were rough. At the end of the day we still go and see them live regardless for the love of the band and the music.

As far as Manson...I lost interest when Mechanical Animals came out. I love Portrait, and Anti-Christ and that was too much of a change for me to get into. I will still though check setlist.fm and see the setlists on their current tour and see if maybe they will play stuff from those albums but they play very little. Would love to see them play Portrait in its entirety.

@celle2057  I do like Lamb Of God alot. I have seen them a few times dating back to the As The Palaces Burn time.  Their style and how they do it I love but I feel like after that more metal bands began to transform their style and incorporating more European and black metal styles into it. It just wasn't something I could get into at the time. Then more singing/ballad like metal became more current and I just went back to listening to what I liked. I'm always up for any recommendations people tell me though.

I forgot chino had surgery...I saw slayer at mayhem I think manson was there too..I like God hates us all...slayer has some cool songs but I think they are over rated band imo...all their shit sounds the same mostly...they really need to step out of their box..not a fan.Boring live to me. I loved Mechanical Animals..I think that is a great record..different sure but you cant keep doing the same thing over and over like Slayer...lol..I like all mansons records except for Born Vilain was not that great but had some great songs on it...portrait and anti christ are definitely his best...My friend and I got the Bible signed by Manson in Hollywood..epic. haha. I got to see Lamb of God when they were Burn the priest..opened for Mushroomhead...great show...Lamb is great live...biggest pit I have ever seen was when they opened for Slipknot during subliminal verses tour....entire floor opened up...great show that was..fuck. If you love metal check out Gojira or Meshuggah...killer bands.

I remember hearing about Meshuggah back in the day and I never stopped to listen. Maybe now I will. And I have heard a lot of good things about Gojira. I think they opened for Slayer recently. And thats awesome about the bible signing and for seeing Lamb of God back in the burn the priest days. Mushroomhead is another decent band imo.  They were at Mayhem but I didn't go. Would like to see them again.

Not a big fan of Mushroomhead's music...I like a few songs here and there and most of their older stuff but they are great live..they were dope as fuck at Shockfest..really got the crowd hyped as fuck...good moshing tunes. Gojira opened for Slayer and Metallica. Separate shows. Check out Meshuggah's Bleed video off of Obzen...dope record.Heavy as shit.Koloss is another great record of theirs. Gojira From Mars to Sirius is great, also The way of all flesh (Toxic Garbage island) are my favorites. Both bands have albums in the works..I would post some videos but they seem to fuck up most of the time.

That does look like a good line up. Korn playing their self titled is something I would go see. Doubt I will make it up there but hopefully they continue that setlist and play their first album in its entirety. I stop really listening to them after Follow the Leader and even that album I wasn't really impressed with. I seen them a few times at Mayhem Fest and every time it was dull. They played a little of everything which I get but to see them play all the songs from the first album would be awesome.

ya that would be dope..I have seen korn a lot and wont go anymore. They always play the same "hits" over and over..I would love to see a full set of self titled and life is peachy...my 2 fav records of theirs...follow the leader was dope too then they started going downhill...I still like them but their last one with Brian back was really disappointing...hope they do another good record...Deftones is in the studio making another record...cant wait for that shit...now they have become a really good fucking band. They have changed their sound but I think they are better now than ever...I do love adrenaline and around the fur though cuz I grew up with that shit...diamond eyes and koi no yokan are really amazing musically.

Metal is my original obsession, and I am what I like to call "a recovering elitist". haha I still can't stand the super-slick stuff, but I don't give anyone a hard time for it. I'd rather listen to a noisy grindcore band than pretty much any group metalsucks or metal injection praises.

Metal is dead. This is the best new album I've heard in awhile but it's from Machine Head and their first two are classics. The More things change is in my top ten metal albums.

Two amazing bands right there. I caught Gojira as an opener for In Flames years ago, that shit blew me away.

Has anyone heard of Killer Be Killed? Max Cavalera (Sepultura/Soulfly), Greg Puciato (Dillinger Escape Plan), Troy Sanders (Mastodon), and Dave Elitch (Mars Volta).
