Do you guys think it would be possible to go mainstream with a horrorcore style? I made a song a lil while ago that's commercial but i still kept it HorrorCore. If you'd like to hear it let me know and Ill post the link up for you guys to see.

"Mainstream Horrorcore" is an oxymoron, and that's how we like it. However, some of us are open to be surprised. Go for it.

No, you are not going to be famous or make any serious money if that's what you're asking. Your just another cog in the machine, nothing special here at all. In fact its pretty apparent you are actually more shitty than good. That's not very promising.

That song is night by eminem. I really like it when he gets dark and evil.

Lots of artists have horror themed songs. The trick would be to have that be your gimick and break through. The artists that have had commercial success have been the ones that have flirted with the genre, not the ones who have embraced it. Money aside, I would say the Gravediggaz are the most criticality acclaimed Horrorcore music, and I would say they are arguably the best group under the umbrella. Commercial success? Not even close.

First off i would like to thank you for taking the time to check out my song and for giving me your honest opinion. I always try to make different styles to attract different crowds. That style was more for the mainstream audience.

I knew Gravediggaz would be brought up. I knew Eminem would be brought up. I knew that artists from all genres that have done "horror themed songs" would be brought up. Im speaking if those many many rappers who specifically try to make what they believe Horrorcore is these days. I don't have to go into detail, we all know the breed. THOSE cats are the ones that are in the oxymoron territory. It logistically couldn't trickle into mainstream success with its content. Eminem became the anomoly after hitting it big with those Slim Shady LP hits of his. Some flirted around the idea of Horrorcore content, but not full on. The album had more, but they weren't released as radio singles.

Oh wait, isn't "Monster Mash" mainstream Horrorcore? Ha... ha... ha.

Em did alot more than dabble in horrorcore. Its all over his first three albums(idk about eminem show through mmlp2 cuz he got wack). I still bump bonnie and clyde 99 every once in awhile. If that aint wicked shit then I dont know what is.

Hopsin is another talented rapper that does horrorcore sometimes. He aint tied to a label but his videos have as much or more views on youtube as other mainstream artists.

I guess it depends on your definition of mainstream.Rich and successful? Theres alot of rappers on labels that youd think would be loaded but there are so many corporate hands in the cookie jar that by the time they buy a chain and a car they are fucking broke. Its like twisted insane says in one of his update videos when he is talking about the song cashin out and the abysmal state of hip hop in general, how is that condo around your neck gonna feed your kids and pay for the house that you just leased because you made it big?

We cant all be jay z and kanye. Its so cliche but just be yourself man. Dont try to mold your music to what you think people want to hear. Make music that you would want to listen to and if you are genuine about it and have the skills people will pick up on it.

The Music Video for Monster is horrorcoreish, but the song isn't. I guess the real question is how do you define horrorcore? Are we talking horror movie elements in music? Specifically hip-hop?

There is the question! What is horrorcore?

to me wicked shit, horrorcore, death rap ect is all the same shit.. dark beats AND dark lyrics.. is wicked shit.. dark lyrics by itself like 99 bonnie & clyde isnt.. while dark beats & gangsta rap isnt..
