I really can't stand this guy. Dude got famous for complaining about a record deal, started his own label then complained that he had to start it, then complained that he did it on his own and people liked him too much for it, then complained about THAT record label, then complained that people complained that HE complained about the label. Oh forgot! Somewhere between complaining about people liking him and complaining about the label HE fucking made, he started complaining about people needing to find god, then (that video up there is news to me) started complaining to god about god 's lack of complaining.

Aaaaaaaaaand now he wants me to call him. Great. I'm going to take a shot in the dark and say that a couple months from now he's going to use this stunt as complaint fuel.

Oh yeah, I forgot the whole "complaining" thing was big among his detractors. Which is understandable - everything you said, at least to varying degrees, is accurate lol.

he's an eminem clone tho.. so none of that matters, genericness is where its at haha..

I want to bust you on the clone bit but I can't really find a good argument against it lol. Um...he wears contacts! There is it! He can't be an eminem clone because eminem doesn't wear those therefor Hopsin is a completely original artist who is doing something with his eyes that absolutely no other artist has ever done.

I've never understood the Hop/Em comparison. The majority of each artists' songs are so widely different that I just don't see it. Unless you're referring to early Eminem, where I suppose there are some correlations that could be drawn, but I'd put that down to influence, more than anything else.

I personally dislike the contacts, but it's not as if they effect the music one iota. But how's he any more "generic" than any other rapper out there? What would set him apart? What sets anyone apart?

its the tone in his delivery and the inflections of the rhymes that is very reminiscent to slim shady era Em.. like listen to sslp or mmlp than mind of hopsin 3? or 4? (the dress one) and the influence in the rap style is clear.. and as far as rap styles there's a shitload of unique delivery's out there.. hell all of psy is a great example..

So I was right about you referring to early Eminem... Yeah, the influence is definitely there - I acknowledged as much in my previous post. How's being influenced by someone make them a "clone", though? You could draw parallels like that between most any artist and their influences. There's only so many "styles" out there, and for each, only one person can truly be called an "original" - so does that make anyone else down the line a "clone" as well?

I think the difference between influenced and taking (what I think you're really asking. Sorry if you're not. I'm high and might be reading too much into it) is the difference between Esham/ICP and Eminem/Hopsin. Being influenced by an artist means you add something to what they offered. ICP took what Esham was going and added a completely different level to it. Hopsin hasn't added anything what Eminem did, minus the contacts anyway. The song ideas might be different but the delivery, attitude and over-the-top personality is exactly like Eminem.

Same reason he faked retiring a month or so ago. Publicity.

Great point; almost forgot about that.  "Retired.  Nah jk, album next month."

Might be exactly like Eminem -- or close to it anyways -- but for whatever reason, it isn't as interesting as when Eminem did it.  Part of it is because he's really preachy when he's making moral points.

Because Hopsin isn't an Eminem clone. Hopsin is like a mix between Nick Cannon and Eminem. Family friendly Eminem.

Ouch... As much as I try to defend him, this one's probably the most accurate that anyone's posted so far. Unfortunately lol.

Never really cared much about if someone was a "clone" or copying someone else. If I like the music I listen to it. If I don't, then I don't.

Anyway, Who called him yesterday? And how did the convo go?
