I haven’t exactly studied his career yet but as far as I know he pushed pretty hard to get on YMCMB, and Birdman was immediately blown away when he heard his shit. Given his content/penchant for “revolutionary” ideas he likely realizes that getting on Young Money would afford him much greater exposure.
Only juggalos, ex-juggalos and college students from 2000-2007 know who Rhymesayers is. Rap-A-Lot is alright but it would’ve probably left him marginalized in the end. YMCMB’s one of the few southern labels that isn’t seen as just a southern label (as Wayne’s one of the few southern rappers that isn’t seen as just a southern rapper).
