Whaddup ya'll,

Been lurking around the forum for a while, figured it was time to join the madness.

I'm living in Japan these days, so most of my contact with the Juggalo world recently is second hand and digital. But if any of you fuckers get a wild hair and end up over here, holler at me, I'll buy you a beer.

After I graduate I will probably join the J.E.T. program and head over to Japan. Eventually want to go to Korea and Hong Kong, then pretty much anywhere. What are you doing in Japan, dude?

Basically just checking out other ways of living, broadening horizons and all that good isht. A big plus is not being in the states...the job market is shit back home. For work I'm teaching English. I didn't get on with JET, so I came over with a different company. The big thing is getting a sponsor for your work visa. Once you're here, you can shop around, there's a lot of options for a native English speaker with a college degree. You can def make it happen if that's what you're trying to do.

Yeah, I am double majoring in International Studies and English as a Learned Language. I am also getting a TESoL Certificate, so hopefully I won't have trouble finding jobs. Also, I have friends in a lot of these countries from when I studied in Korea, so I have the connections.

Word man, lemme know. I'm on the main island, a few hours southwest of Tokyo. I reckon you'd prolly be in the Tokyo-metro area for your visit, yea? If you do make it out here within the year, def let me know. We can kick it like donkeys.

Its about increasing your knowledge and income generating potential.  That is unless you get a stupid degree like communications or history (without going to grad school) or in some cases things like literature or a dead language.  Then no matter how much you increase your knowledge you wont be getting dick for a job.  Im getting a business degree which will directly transfer my income from about 39k a year to 55k a year.  And thats only at the company I work for now.

but what does business have to do with real education?

that dosent make u a better more enlightened person.

does it further your knowledge in the things u wanna know or r passionate about?

business/medical schools aren't apart of real higher education its just job training like vocational schools

the sciences/history/arts that's what betters u as a person and us as a society

Enlightened: having or showing a modern, rational, or well informed outlook. So regardless what you study, you become a more enlightened person, in that field. And if your passion is business or medicine, or simply having the means/income generating potential to support a family or yourself then yes it does further your knowledge in things you want to know or are passionate about. Knowledge of history and 'the arts' doesn't better a person if they get nothing out of it. I can see how scientific pursuits benefit society, but only in a scientific field. Which includes medicine, which you said wasn't part of 'real' higher education.

word, i feel that. i dont know if you're trying to get out of the U.S. or just N.Y. if its the former, most of the time getting the working visa in a foreign country is the hardest thing to do. usually (if not always) you have to have an employer sponsor your application. another requirement is often having at least a Bachelor's degree, but sometimes an Associates is enough. basically, its just a lot of bullshit hoops you gotta jump through. there are mad companies out there that will sponsor you, and set you up with a job in a foreign country, esp. in asia if you're okay with teaching english. you can just google that shit, but off the top, there's Epik in Korea    http://www.epik.go.kr/      and a couple in Japan.       JET      http://www.jetprogramme.org/      Interac   http://www.interacnetwork.com/recruit/     Aeon     http://www.aeonet.com/     iTTTi Japan    http://www.ittti.com/

if you're interested in more, or just have any questions, holler at me homie
