So I'm gonna get this out of the way.  I used to be a hater of both ICP and Juggalos.  But recently I sat back and wondered why.  Then I did some research into this and that.  Figured out I was hating just to hate.  ICP does some shit that I like, and it seems like there's actually some love in the Juggalo family.  So yeah, not hating any more, and gaining some respect.  So as I discover, what's a good first ICP album to pick up?  Been reading around and Great Milenko and Riddle Box seem generally praised.  One of those?  Anyway, thanks for reading, and sorry about the previous negativity.

Peace

I would either get thier most recent album The Mighty Death Pop! or get their fist album as Insane Clown Posse, Carnival of Carnage. Carnage is a good album to get into ICP because juggalos aren't spoke of too much and it's just the lore of the dark carnival. My personal favorite is The Ringmaster. But it like reading books, you don't want the second book in the series without knowing the backstory. All their work is great if your new to it though. Your story is cooler than hell, I respect what you did. Cool to welcome another tight person to our world!

Cool, thanks much for the tip Demented.  I knew there was some backstory with the cards and all.  From what I've read about the lore so far it seems interesting, so I think I'll go old school and start with Carnival.  Got a road trip coming up so I'll try to grab that and give it a listen on the trip.  Thanks again for the tip and the warm welcome.

Peace

First off, don't ever get any of the shit they did after The Wraith - Hells Pit. That nigga all the way up there telling you to get Mighty Death Pop is straight RETARDED. And you can suck a big dick for that, homefry.

I personally wouldn't listen to Carnival Of Carnage first. It's not an album that gets people into ICP. There's albums everyone can listen to, and there's albums clearly just for the juggalo. I like to think CoC is just for the juggalo. Nobody has ever put that shit on when someone is like "So show me some ICP toons". My "for the juggalo" list is really anything prior to the cards, CoC, and The Jeckel Bros.

If you want a road trip worthy CD I would go with The Riddlebox. I would argue that it's really their only story book type CD. It takes you from point a-b with some roadside attractions in the middle.

Milenko is just where all the commercially viable touring shit comes from. The "anthems" if you will. If you want something geared more towards what you would listen to at a concert this is your album.  3/5th's of their tour is old shit, 1/5th of new shit and 1/5th of odds and ends not everyone really knows, or remixes from remix albums nobody bought, and collabos obviously missing the collaborators which makes for a minute long song so J can catch his breath..

All of the Jokers cards tell a story and I would suggest you take a listen to one or both of these cd's and then start from the beginning if you're really that into it. You'd have to not be a music fag and understand that music that came out in the 90's always sounds like music that came out in the 90's. Most kids today seem to hate the production value of older music because it isn't crisp and clean. Yes it is raspy, and sometimes muffled, but so was the rest of the music back then.

For instance. "Never Had It Made" from CoC. If you don't like the production value of this song you will not want to listen to anything prior to CoC at all.

I think all icp records are cool as fuck. I think you older juggalos just hold ICP to a certain standard. The songs from milenko and riddlebox are also fucking musical diamonds but sound odd live. Even from that one hallowicked show that some ninja recorded a from like '95 or 6 it doesn't seem like J can't maintain that nasally delivery and he certainly can't now (unless mec just changed the pitch on the record to begin with) . Only shaggy's voice sounds the same for the most part.

I also apologize for my ignorance being that I've only down since I was twelve and am just 17. The first ICP record I got to own and listen to in full was COC so maybe I was being nostalgic. And Inner City Posse is a little different. Insane Like is the only song from them that feels like ICP in my opinion.

But just kinda try looking at this whole thing with new eyes. All of icp's music it out the norm and is at least a little bit catchy. Like someone said the other day "ICP has become a parody of themselves" but at least it's a good parody and they kinda try to come with new ideas. What do you want "That Other Love Song" and "I Keep Stabbin". I always appreciated every ICP release when I got the chance to listen to it and liked how they thought of more random ass shit that was entertaing. Even the worst icp record are entertaing. My favorite off kilter ICP song Scatter Brain cause it makes absolutely no sense at all.

And I know this makes no sense but i tried. I lurk here all the time respect yall for making me laugh like a fucking lunatic and I value your opinion when it comes to juggalo shit (even the trolls).

But in all seriousness The Amazing Jeckel Brothers is a must know, no doubt. Fucking Classic! And anyone who says otherwise can eat a bowl of poop bitch!

Riddle box. Start there. If it draws you in , start back at carnival of carnage and work your way threw the deck.

From tadpoles to frogs to Jesus to legends.

Secondly, and I can't believe this wasn't firstly.

ICP DOES NOT MAKE A JUGGALO.

There are literally hundreds of "Juggalo Acts" that aren't ICP.

All of Psychopathic Records

Twiztid*

All of Strange Music's artists (Tech N9ne*, Brotha Lynch Hung*, Prozak etc etc)

Most of (what is left or what was) Suburban Noize Records. (Kottonmouth Kings, Big B*, Potluck etc etc etc)

Lil Wyte

Jelly Roll

Yelawolf* (Before he went "mainstream" and then all of these juggakids started hating on him)

Haystak*

Marz

Killa C

Kung Fu Vampire

King Gordy*

Twisted Insane*

I would argue that Bizarre* is Juggalo music, but i'd get hated on. Friday night at St Andrews was an underground banger.

MC Breed

Caskey

Lo Key

Hopsin, but that niggas a lame diss rapper and hasn't had shit to put on wax in like 3 or 4 years.

Esham blows, don't ever listen to the garbage he calls music. You'll thank me when you go look him up and listen to his shit.

*Stars next to anything I personally suggest you listen to.

I guarantee you there is a "horrorcore" scene within 60 miles of your city. I bet they put on shows at least once a month. Most of them fucking suck, but a couple of them are "big draws" for their scene. Without a doubt.

For your listening pleasure, I'd start off with Great Milenko and Amazing Jeckel Brothers. Amazing Jeckle Brothers is great for long trips.

Much Love!

Could you elaborate a little more. I kinda get your point of view because they all have at least have a slight affilation with the juggalo/wicked underground (as big ian would say). Some of these people owe more to the juggalos than they give credit and our culture does happen to be a consistent sales figure in many of their careers but really? I've met strange and subnoize die hards that just don't like juggalos. If we're talking "juggalo artists" can't we just narrow it down to Psy., Tech and The Kings. The only reason I say this is because that much music can be overwhelming and get boring. And what say this ninja doesn't already like most or some of the people. I mean ICP, Tech N9ne, and KMK are really in the mainstream. I mean I loved Lynch before I even new what a juggalo was. But your advice was real good. All the * artist are good but don't forget Blaze. And and I think AMB's psy releases are the absolute shit along with most of their back catalog.

The fact that an acts fans don't like juggalos doesn't take them off the "juggalo act" list. This tiny list of the most known names are simply acts that get buzz in the "juggalo world". You can search any of those names on here and you should be able to find something written about them. And no we can't narrow down juggalo music to only PSY acts. That would be dumb. Warlock is just mad that I didn't add some stupid niche market juggacrap from his hick town. That would be an over load for this guy. I listed a wide variety of genre styles in the juggamusic hemisphere that this guy can check out. Maybe he doesn't like that clowny shit psy does so he'll check out some of the underground hip-hop in the list. There's more to juggalife than those 3 main labels. AMB sucks dick, and I didn't list blaze separately because he hasn't dropped anything post psy thus he would be easily found just looking up PSY.

Fuck a jugga(anything) besides a Juggalo or Juggalette. Fuck a juggamom, juggadad, juggakid, juggadog, juggadoctor, juggateacher, juggataxi driver, juggared neck. I aint hip with the lingo and just because you say its so, don't make it true. Killa C, KMK,  Marz, Haystak, lil wyte, jelly roll, lo key, are all whack as fuck in my opinion and it don't make me any less of a juggalo.

YelaWolf is dope. Esham will never blow either.

When someone asks for an ICP recommendation and you steer them toward that watered down pulp... it's like slapping a thirsty person in the face instead of just giving them the water they asked for. That said, it's pretty simple to Youtube some songs from each ICP album (Wikipedia) instead of asking for random opinions on a forum. That way you can hear what they sound like for yourself, and decide what you like best. If you don't have the patience to sit down and check out various ICP songs online for a few hours, then maybe this isn't for you.
