Man, I am from Lansing Michigan (Home of Simken Heights who toured with ICP Hollowicked tour in 95 and 96)

 

For ICP fans who have never heard of this Legendary Rap Group from Lansing Michigan, here is their song for War Horse!

Rapper MASS is the first kat you hear on the track with his really dark distinct voice.

 

 

Seems that no Michigan fans especially Lansing fans of Simken Heights from my generation have posted any videos of this Legendary Rap Group or even scanned photos from back in their concert days!

 

It just does not make sense that this group with so much talent it had that the groups manager or CEO of Psychopathic records never thought to record the ICP concerts with the opening acts such as Simken Heights and KGP. Of course House of Krazees has video footage but still nothing with Simken Heights.

 

My bad if I am mistaken and I do hope that Psychopathic records does have video footage of Simken Heights thats stored on VHS tapes of ICP Hollowicked concerts somewhere that have not been digitized yet and released on youtube.

 

Only a few videos of the first 90’s Hollowicked Tours I have seen on youtube but of course all showcase ICP but where

is the video footage with Simken Heights as an opening act for them???

 

 

Just to inform you all, unless you heard about this, (Mass from the group Simken Heights) made a solo album that was only released to people around Lansing but never sold in stores similar to a mixtape out the trunk but with his solo stuff. I never was able to cop that solo album of his in 1997. He went under a new name that I cant remember for certain. Something like Brainwater or BrainH20.

 

If anyone knows any info how to get this tape, I will pay you for it!

 

Have ya’ll heard (Learning to Fly) by Simken Heights (1993). Man, Im not that much into old school hip hop but this G Funk track is tite!!!

 

Seems like they had another interesting sound in the making with this song until their genius idea for horror core rap came into mind and play)

Also, since Mass left the group after his brother J Rome was killed, Cap One I feel has not done enough to preserve this legendary groups status. Reason why! There is only one photo on the whole internet of Mass and J Rome plus there are only a few photos of Cap One with such little information.

 

The big question is what happen to the marketing skills???

 

Rappers are not only entertainers but they are taught to be business men as well especially when it comes to marketing and promoting.

 

For the talent that Cap One has, his marketing skills are much to be desired. For sure he could do so much more!

 

Plus why Cap One does not really pursue youtube. I mean youtube is such a great outlet to get your music known especially videos. Home made vids are fine just keeping the fans up to date with a fucking ipad) I remember when Esham released his album with a video for every song that many peeps knocked the quality on but at least he had something for the fans to see! 

 

Plus back then ipad did not exist. Posting videos is now so fucking easy yet still not enough rappers post vids on youtube. Perhaps many want quality but i think many fans just want to hear their stories about making the albums and what the rappers go through in their daily life and situations.

 

Basically its like reality tv but just with updates on their lives unless they are just private when it comes to that but being private or too lazy to post videos could or would affect their album sales or concerts (just my opinion) Just like Dayton Family seems to not be into youtube but luckily they still manage to have a large fan following!

 

I just dont undestand Cap Ones (from Simken Heights) game plan. I dont want to knock the kat but just curious what

his goal is? He just seems to be sitting of idol right now. Why wouldn’t he expand the Simken Heights Franchise?

Seems like the fan base is big enough plus he can revamp Simken Heights with new talented rappers because his album Redrum and Coke was just ok.

 

I grew up on this music in my teen years in da L! but I only met a few kats who knew of, just saw or personally knew dem kats.

 

One kat I met in the Lansing mall told me he was going to form a group called Simken Heights Affiliates but nothing ever transformed.

 

Then I read that Cap One was in a serious car accident so perhaps this is why he was not coming out with much recording material.

 

Just seems Mass (member of Simken Heights) had such a distinct voice that no horror core rapper can compete with yet Cap One does not try to search for a rapper who can mimic Mass voice to try to revamp the groups original sound (Like Pantara replaced their lead singer) Even though fans of Pantara complained, Pantara still had some good songs with the new singer so what would be the difference in finding a rapper with voice similar to Mass?

 

Plus Simken Heights beatmaker or producer really made some tite beats. Last tite album the producer made for Cap One was his HOLYWATER solo and Religion of the Beast but after the HolyWater solo, seems like none of his material is up to par the Simken Heights classics. The newer albums have poor audio recording on a lot of tracks. I haven’t heard Cap Ones Seven album yet so I am curious about the quality. 

 

I understand that many horror core rappers of my generation and younger want or have had Cap One lace a track on their albums but its not the same. 

 

The effort is much appreciated from these artists but nothing will ever compare with Ashtray Junkies, Smoke Box, Kingdom of the Shells and HolyWater.

 

If anyone has any info, just let me know. 

 

Let me know how much you want for the concert footage of Simken Heights if your friends have it. I dont mind getting coppies on VHS tapes and then I can digitize it myself unless you can just put it on dvd. I can pay you through paypal or money order.

I tried to sign up on psycopathictraders for collectors of ICP but because I now live outside of the country I am not able to sign up. I wanted to post this message on that message board if any collectors there have Simken Heights in concert. If anyone who is a member there can copy and post my message there, that would be greatly appreciated.

 

I even wrote Cap Ones son asking for info and he to did not write back plus I wrote in 1998 Simken Heights old recording label KMC Crew when they existed (who was started and consisted of old school rap group KMC Crew) but once again no reply or response. 

 

My conclusion through all of my research and findings on Simken Heights seems like either kats who I contacted who knew them or did business with them just dont give a fuck, dont have time or just dont care or are just (((too fucking illiterate))) to write a simple reply to answer some questions and to give some info. That last sentence is just my frustration with contacting noneintelligent[Image Can Not Be Found] kats. Such a pity!

 

Also, any Michigan kats know about rap group HIGH4LYFE from Flint Michigan who promoted their ep Three Wheel Motion in Lansing back in 1995)

 

Seems like no one on the internet has that tape but I do! I paid some dude to transfer it from tape to cd. I bought it at WarehouseRecords next to MSU. This group also disappeared and I am trying to find out which other albums the group members have been apart of in Flint Town!

 

I met one kat at my college in 1998 who knew this rap group from Flint and Sagnasty but I lost his info.

Seems that Mass from Simken Heights left the group to take care of J-Romes child and to pursue ministry when I was just starting to rap!

 

Simken Heights,Three 6 Mafia and T-Rock from Georgia with that Memphis sound are my main influences.

 

Rapping is just a hobby for me. Here in Russia if a Russian rapper wants me to guest on an album I will.

 

Ok, looking forward to your replys and helpful info or stories about Simken Heights.

 

Wish someone would make a documentary about this Legendary rap group from Lansing Michigan.

 

Any stories about original group Simken Heights would be greatly appreciated!

 

Also, I just discovered this horror rap group from Germany who has a Russian Rapper. 

 

It reminds me of Korn’s creepy intros plus the German rapper raps with a dark voice similar to MASS from Simken Heights but still MASS has got that epic dark voice!

 

Nice song even though English speaking kats would not understand but tite to listen to and to show your friends horror rap from other countries)
