I’m never one to get into disputes on here (mainly because I just don’t have any extra time in my day to be concerned about what’s said on an internet forum). @demonicswagger the only way for your idea to work is with consistent moderation of the forums. Moderators will need to step up and actively monitor threads and take action when needed.
I think one warning is all that’s necessary and just a permaban from there on out. Fuck it, either you post meaningful positive shit (and positive can indeed mean negative as long as it’s constructive, thought out, and relates to the situation) or you’re done on FLH. That’s simple to me, but I think like an adult who gets by in the real world…

By your definition, you’d already be grounds for moderation by this proposed rule. Sorry. I don’t think that’d work either. Leaves way too much up for discretion.
Huh…? Scruffy asked for an opinion, I gave mine, and with that I proposed (while speaking my mind with a bit of a jab at the childish behavior I’ve seen more and more here over the past few months) a potential solution, while staying on topic, in a more constructive way.

Yeah im pretty sure its fine the way it is. But if people just start blatantly harassing people and the forum i do think moderators should interfere.
And if this place is considered basically no rules anarchy i dont understand why we have moderators. Maybe i dont understand the role of a moderator.
If theres no rules then all the moderators can do what ever they want with their buttons. Untill scottie interferes cuz this his website. He can do as he wishes and we have no say.

He is not banned. Jordansforcheap is still an active member. I have never banned anyone. I have deleted posts that the original poster themselves have requested be deleted, except when it was obvious sales spam like the dirt digger robot posts. The anti-spam system that @scottied put on a few months ago pretty much stopped almost all of those sales spam.
Jordans stopped coming around since no one was buying his shoes. When he was around, I checked various forums that he had been on and in all of them he moved on if no one was buying his shoes. He even stopped going to the Deagle Nation site that he claimed he was so into. No sales = move on and find another group to claim he’s down with to find more marks.

honestly, if we start banning people willy nilly, where does it end?
i support the society we have until someone basically comes in and start derailing threads en masse (aka the smack drama posts). a bit of trolling is fine, i mean i had great fun with the rando trolls we get (jordans4cheap, xombieking and that guy that types everything in red/blue leetspeak), but when someone come sin and starts actively harrassing members, like fucking with facebooks and such, a moderator steps in. if it persists, ban em.
i honestly havent read much else in this post. sorry (not sorry) if ive repeated anything.

I mean, I’m on the verge of just not posting and only reading. I think it’s been over a week before this since I posted anything. I only came in here because it looks like folks actually want to improve the board, and I had an idea.
You are not the only person who has said that. And I do believe it is not easy to break into the “club”. It may have to do with the fact that we get many new members who post once and never post again that people don’t let other in until they have shown that they are going to be regular contributors. Or maybe they only post once cause they are not given any attention or outright negative attention from the start.
About your idea, your ideas are welcomed and appreciated. This is not just @scottied ‘s forum or the moderators forum. This is everyone’s forum. Not every idea is going to be liked and everyone will have their perceived pro and cons to someone else’s idea.
I wish others would follow your lead and even if they haven’t posted for a while because of what they see as problems with the forums, they come out and give some ideas. The more sharing we get and the more discussion, the better it will be.
And maybe we decide we can’t actually draw a line in the sand and just keep everything on a case by case basis. It’s tough to give juggalos rules to follow. When I hear of rules and policies, my first natural instinct is to say fuck that. But that’s just me.

I hear you. That’s a tough one. I like you and I like Lucem. Not sure what should be done if that becomes the situation again. Censorship seems to cause more issues than it helps. Not to use this as an example but what do you guys think can be done in cases where this occurs? Should we moderate out things that are obviously off topic and a non-contribution to the thread? Some of the best threads are the ones where they were derailed many times over.
And have we been guilty of preferential treatment of certain members? Probably so. If that is seen to occur again, then it needs to be brought to the moderators attention (all of us). If it involves a moderator, then @scottied , needs to be informed.
@scottied is a very busy guy and should only get involved when something cannot be brought to the moderators because the issues concerns one of us.

I honestly don’t have a major problem with what’s going on here (on FLH), I know I’ve kinda dropped off a bit recently (life sucks and has consumed most my free time) but from what I have seen I can’t say that I think there is a real problem on the forums, since that latest scruffy/smack debacle I think this place has been rather tame IMO.

I mean… Facebook itself has security measures. Not sure how I can’t get my own old account erased, but smack manages to get someone else’s erased. But be that as it may, it’s not really your responsibility to patrol Facebook. And by banning smack here, honestly… you kind of just poked the bear. You need to really protect your Facebook on Facebook, using face book’s tools and TOS.

honestlyi think i missed the whole ‘kill all christians’ thing. but thats is exactly what im talking about. if that is happening, someone needs to reprimand lucem (moderator obviously, i can call him a dickhead and tell him to stfu, but it wont stop him, most likely) and if he continues with it, then yeah a 48 hour cooling off period followed by a permaban if he continues.
your right though, we should be protecting the forum. not individuals.

Case to case sounds good to me. I think the moderators should be free to decide for themselves what needs to go. Im sure they will talk to the person privately so if the person being moderated has an objection they can go at it there. And if one of us has a problem with some one getting moderated then im sure we will speak up.
