Yeah its not just you, they began running 2 ads before videos and unskippable 10ish second ads are more common (but it costs companies extra). 

Also they advertise YouTube red every 5 seconds, which everyone hates for no good reason.

We've gone through 2 apocalypses (with another potentially coming soon) and COPPA now, Google has lost millions upon millions, they n e e d to do that now. 

Blame the media's sadly successful slander attempts, the paranoia of large companies, and my retarded fucking government who quiet literally don't know how phones work and make laws for how the internet has to operate.

Susan Wojcicki said that she found out some of the lawmakers she was dealing with didn't even own smart phones. They literally didn't understand a single word she or her lawyers were saying as they attempted to explain themselves.

Youtube isn't blameless either, this ALL could have been avoided if they had handled the media attacks better several years ago.

But yeah, now YouTube has had to sanitize and censor their creators, double their ads, thoroughly raped their algorithm, many many people's careers have been outright obliterated, and everything sucks now.
