i love all those acronym-having science joints. museums, too, museums are the shit.
i dont even care if its meant for kids. theres a spot in saint louis, the magic house. i been there once as a kid, several times as an adult. its still kinda cool. not exactly inspirational, or even magical [despite the name], but fun.
ive gotten to see a lot of natural/manmade wonders and such. they are kinda wonderful. for a time. but the longer you are around them, them less impressive the wonder. ive stood on the rim of three active volcanos [maybe four, if they ever made up their minds about haleakala]. seen the pacific, the atlantic [well, briefly], the gulf, the grand canyon, the rockies. aurora borealis in canada and scrubland in mexico [not much in the way of natural beauty along the border]. they all get kinda old and mundane if youre there long enough. but take a lil time to notice em again, and theyre still fun.
awfully paranoid, arent you?

What about those old school magic shows, with the old stages, and the classic black & white tuxedo, with those badass encores? oh wait those no longer exist. but hey it’s cool to wish if they still existed right?
I had a childhood friend who’s dad was a hypnotist. I got to attend one of the shows.

As a kid it was going down the jersey shore. Wildwood, NJ to be exact. Each year all my moms family would come down and we all hung out. I looked forward to it every year. I hope to carry that tradition with my wife and her family and all their kids.
As a teen it was woodstock 99…well until they started all those fires and whatnot. But to see James Brown start the whole thing off was just phenomenal.
As an adult now in my 30s it has to be the gathering. I went only once but man did I have such a great time. Hope to do it again this year. I’m gonna definitely gather harder this year if I go. No half assin it.

Its been said but as an adult definitely the Gathering especially the ones at Crystal Forest. As a kid I had a soft spot for the Natural Bridge in southern Virginia. Its whimsical damnit…
"Somewhere theres a Waffle House thats severely understaffed right now" -OCJ to Scruffy watching a second stage act at the Gathering.

It’s cliche for a Juggalo to say it but I consider the Gathering to be a definitive moment in my life. I was at a crossroad with who I wanted to be and how I treated people. A lot of the answers just kind of clicked into place for me there. Other than that, I use to have an abandoned baseball field/parking lot across from my house when I was a kid. The weeds had vined up the fence and the parking lot had unkempt trees around it so it was as opaque and secluded as I could get. All of it was dilapidated and people would dump their old car seats, tires and shit in there. Deer use to go in it to sleep so there would always be random circles of grass all flattened out and trails that they had paved out. I would spend hours doing random shit in there. I set up old mattresses and started backyard wrestling with friends, grew my first pot plant, smoked my first joint, wrote my first song, and did lot of other firsts and lasts in that tetanus trap. It was a pretty fucking special place for me.

this has now happened to me at three different gatherings. my second, third, and fourth gathering appearances were, as you describe, crossroad moments.
ive seen it happen to others before my eyes at every gathering i been to. clear personality changes between first day and last.

this is kinda what i mean when i say that theres is probably somethin magical about any place. what makes it magical is circumstance and point of view.
go to a spot like arlington or punchbowl… inspirational is probably the wrong word, but all those graves will impact you in some way.
magic? well, sorta… but impacting, for sure.
