We need a little positivity in here. We all have our troubles and problems, sure. But why do the negatives always get the spotlight? Let’s give the positives time to shine.

I have published 3 poetry books, I moved from Northern Iowa to Southern Iowa to help my Mom get through her daily life, and I can honestly say I have never been unfaithful in a relationship (my wife, or ex girlfriends before her). I help my elderly neighbor do her laundry when she’s having back spasms, empty her trash, etc.

In a world that is mostly dark, the good deeds will shine like stars in the night sky.

I volunteer teach sex ed to various ages. Once while teaching 4th / 5th grade, every week we had questions in our anonymous question box that were along the lines of “why are people homophobic” and “is it wrong to be gay” and “is aids more common in gay people” and so on. Every week. At the end of the course this girl who was in the 4th grade came up to me and she gave me a hug and she said ‘I was the one who put the gay questions in the question box” and I told her that I hoped I’d answered her questions in a positive and encouraging way. She said that she used to be afraid that she was gay and that she wasn’t afraid anymore. She said she told her mom and that her mom was real supportive. In the time after that she would regularly visit me and tell me that she’s doing good. I would notice her on the playground before always by herself and kind of sour looking and now she was running and playing with friends. I’ve never done anything so good for someone else. It really meant the world to me.

As for accomplishments, when I went back to school at the start of my 30s, I took an art class because it was required. My teacher told me I should apply to this honors art class because my work was really good and at the end of the semester in the honors class we put our work up in a museum. She said I might not get in but that I should try. She said it takes some people 3 or 4 tries before getting in because it’s really competitive and art majors going to art school really like the chance to flesh out their portfolio with work they design, and the honors class gives you the chance to do that. You submit a proposal and all of the faculty in the arts program look at your previous work and the proposal and they decide if you’re good enough. I got in my first try and made a video piece that I think really speaks to my artistic sensibilities more than anything else I’ve ever made.

I bring my grandmother every thursday for chemo aswell as do any shopping/banking she needs done.

That’s straight up the shit, smack. Chemo is no joke and it’s good that she has someone there to help her through it. I hope she goes into remission. No one should have to deal with cancer.

Congrats on all that man!

I guess i should say the hand full of lives i saved. Like my girlfriends little sister from getting hit by a car. My friends from getting set up. We fucked up as kids like 15 and EVERYONE wanted us. Some more than others. I was guilty by association. Once my friend was stuck in this fucken cliffhanger shit and i super drunk guy strength pulled him up. The random passenger “LOOK OUT!!!” things. Thetes others. But i kinda dont leave an impact. I just realized one day thst all this happend when my girlfriends mom reminded me of her little girl.

What does leave an impact is the more self centered fact that i over came being suicidal and depressed and what not. Oh yeah and finding my link bitch!

YOU KNOW THEY AINT NO SUCH THING AS LEFTOVER CRACK!!!- Leftover Crack

thanks rob

but sadly there is no cure for the cancer she has it will kill her within the next 2 years the chemo is just to help with the pain she was in.

but she is 87 years old and lived a full life I doubt anyone of us in our generations will ever live to see 87 if this happened to her in her 40’s it would suck but as it is now were all at peace with whats to come.

When my grandad had cancer i was visiting him once a week, making the 7ish hour drive (round trip) down to hang out with him so he wasnt stuck alone during the day when my grandma went and did shopping. most of my family in different directions to them, so i was the closest. was working nights so i would drive up at about 7 – 8 am after a few hours sleep and walking the dogs. hang with my grandad ‘bunny’ and head back after lunch and start work straight away.

i dunno if that counts as a achievement. its family, you do for family. sadly his cancer killed him at 89.

i get it smack. i get it.

ummmm

stopped someones house from burning down on new years day this year.

was out getting lunch when i was driving home and caught 2 little shitheads lighting a fire in one of my neighbourghs front yards.

when i stopped the car the fire was about 30 centimetres in diameter and when i reached it (literally crossing a suburban road) it had grown to about 12 meters in diameter.

i bashed on their dooor and grabbed there hose from the side of the house and put the fire out. it got the side of their house, but i got to it early enough that it just left a few black marks on the bricks.

i tried grabbing the two kids who lit the fire but they had legged it while i was dealing with the fire.

if i ever see them again, im tying them up and throwing them in the trunk of my car while i reenact fast and the furious tokyo drift.

the people came rushing out the house just as i was finishing putting out the fire. it was a very teary and huggy moment. kinda awkward. im not scared of fire. its something we grew up around. andi told them it was self preservation, if their house went up in flames theres a good chance mine woudl too.

i stop and help people change tires all the time, my wife tells me its goin g to get me killed one day, im not really worried though, noone fucks with a 6 ft 3 250 pound guy who scowls ALL THE TIME.

ive always liked helping people, but i dont really ever talk about it. i dont like bragging about shit like that because i feel it takes away from it. although comin home covered in soot and dirt was an excellent way to freak my wife out.

What a great thread idea.

Other than helping a girl with replacing the inflation part of her tire (I carry a tire kit), and simpler stuff like giving people change from my tip jar to buy weed in the dispensary lol, I can think of some more significant stuff.

I’ve helped people to end their racism. To eat healthier. How to deal with situations through advice.

When I was trying to move out of my dad’s, I slowly saved up a giant box of canned good and non perishables. It was huge. My mom was living a few states away and needed food so I mailed it to her. Very expensive shipping.

Hooked my boys and girls up with jobs, no more livin hard lol

Took my mom’s out the hood. Saved her from dangerous boyfriends.

Once had to bitch down an entire room full of fuck boys from hurting my older brother.

Stuck up for everyone I felt was being bullied. Even handicapped people. I say ‘even’ because it still hurts to know that people prey on retarded ass homies just to get their own kicks.

Stomped a dude that we thought was raping my friend. Turns out she was being tricky for attention and is actually an evil woman, but our stomping hearts were in the right place.

I have tried (and failed, I’m not ashamed to say) to protect my brother’s from the bad things in the world. They both died but damn it I tried.

Most importantly, I took the chance with moving my baby girls and wife from the dead world of NY to Colorado. I am doing the best I’ve ever done in my life. I went from a Darkroom Manager at a Community College that did janitro work and electrical errands on the side, to a Shift Manager at a Rec and Med dispensary in just a couple months.

I give natural medicine to people that have been denied for decades. That shit keeps me going.

I always try and help animals, according to the situation. Even the dirtiest alley cat deserves a good meal on Thanksgiving, for instance.

Gonna think of more later, what a good thread.

I love this thread so much.

I am proud that I was smart enough to join the military at 20 with intentions to enhance my life.

I am proud to hit my 12 year active duty anniversary on March 9; never giving up on myself or thinking I couldn’t do it.

I am proud that I can finally support my mother who sacrificed everything for my brother and I to survive even when we were homeless.

I am proud that family and friends feel comfortable enough to come to me with happiness, grief, concern, sadness, excitement, and all shades of emotion knowing that I will never judge them.

I am proud that I can find it in myself to smile during the shittiest of occasions.

I have a solid life for my son and great woman. They kinda guide me through life. I recently got sole legal and physical custody of my 8 year old. I’ve been employed for close to ten years straight, not in one place, but I’ve  kept a job. These are what I’m most proud of.

Thanks ninja, you are reciprocally a role model of mine.

WonderiNg how LTB is doing.

86, I must know what you have published.

And yeah, the girl that we have gotten physical to protect over the years, in fact has broken my brother’s heart, had four abortions (I am pro-choice but JESUS), haD attempted to wreck my marriage, stolen from me and in turn accused my wife of stealing, took advantage of mentally handicapped dude and fucked him, simply for the fact that he had a large African American wang. That was the last abortion I knew of. She also talked about how she used to want to fuck her father. Tried to fuck my OWN father actually, just to cause trouble with his wife. Berated my mother once, I wish I was there to stop it.

So yeah, a lot of the times these chicks just aren’t worth it. If they have drama in their life, chances are that she invites it and even relishes it. Glad I never screwed her.

Anyway, I am proud for NOT using any real heavy violence to attempt to solve problems in about eight years. There are actually times that I REGRET not using violence. Could’ve gotten away with it, likely, but jail males you realize that these days you can’t even use self defense if you hurt the bastard bad enough.

I wish I could’ve Stomped the sexual predator at the library. Then there is this guy that was putting roofies in young boys’ drinks at the club then suckin their dicks while they were zonked. Basically, all the perverts. To Catch a Predator style.

But it sure is fun! Yeah, it sure is fun!

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb…..ds=Zaputil

1. The Cycle Of The Days Of Whatever- published 2010

2. HeartBreak Carnival- published 2011

3. Exploding Transistor- published 2015

I have another book in the works. Not finished with it yet though. Won’t be for awhile I think. But I do feel that Exploding Transistor is my best work. It was written in outrage, recklessness, frustration, disgust, and with a feeling that salvation only shines it’s face when you’re about to become “too far gone” from everybody else. If that makes sense.
