Sup guys?
I've been talking about it since I've created a profile on this site, but the time draweth nigh: my wife and two kids are making the move from upstate NY to Colorado. We want to move either at the end of this month or late September. The wife has a very small art teaching gig that has three locations, all in Denver. We are using this primarily as a jumping off point for her to get into a school there. NY has been cutting extracurricular programs, especially the arts, from every damn school in the state. There is no hope for a job here... I've saved up a bit of cash, scrubbing it hardcore, and come hell or high Faygo, we are moving. We will do what we did in past cross country drives: stay mainly at campsites, take our time driving, etc..... ANYWAYS, we are primarily trying to find affordable places to rent. We arent above trailers, lived in them plenty of times. Trying to keep it under $800 a month and a 2 bedroom. We are currently jn a one bedroom... anyways, any Colorado homies have any tips on places to go and stay, that arent more than an hour or so from Denver? Any Colorado info at all? It would mean the world.... thanks

I ran away to Boulder from the East Coast when I was 17 and have spent a fair bit of time in the Denver-Boulder over the intervening years. I don't have much useful info, but all I can say is that it's pretty cool out there- it's beautiful, awesome if you're into pretty much any kind of outdoors shit, and there's a legit openmindedness that I haven't really seen anywhere else I've spent time in. I think you'll be able to manage housing for $800/mo too. For sure, if you're making a move, that's a good place to be making a move to. Good luck.

Well, at least you don't have to worry about Colorado cutting any extra-curricular activities soon with all of the tax revenue from marijuana that is going directly to education.
Yeah homie, its one of the only areas to completely recover from the recession so far. Great recent articles on it. Thanks for all the info and opinions homies... more would be nice too lol.

working homeless are a strange breed. ive done it two times.some people just get used to it. a guy i work with only recently ended a three-year stretch of living in a tent by a river. said he got tired of all his friends showing up at random times to party.
I've been homeless too.. no biggie but I won't put my kids through it. What with "societal expectations" and all
. I lived in a tent for a week also. Got Lyme disease. No shit.

We had a spot in the mountain town of Salida, but the guy changed his mind. Cool town, about 5,300 people, so like an entire Juggalo Gathering full... may have a rural spot outside of Colorado Springs... that seemed all good until I read up on the place.
Extremely religious and Conservative Christianity abound. And its a military town, so this will be like living in Goldsboro NC all over again fuuck.. ah well the lease is only six months so we will be out of there before my oldest kid is three.

Update:
Well we thought for sure we had the place by Colorado Springs, but strangely the guy changed his mind. It sucks. I didn't even know completely what "credit" was until I found my score yesterday, but it said "696 GOOD". So what the fuck? My wife found hers to be POOR because of crazy medical bills from her pancreatitis where she almost fucking died. But she pays her student loans so that helped it from being AWFUL. ha. . So credit, job and personal references aren't the issue, plus I have proof of my savings income and a clean driving and criminal record (my second degree assault charge was completely dropped back in 2005). So anyway I guess people just get nervous that we don't have jobs 100% lined up. Our resumes are great, so we will have no problem there.
So I started researching Colorado more. Turns out Pueblo is probably the best bet. The cost of rent and living is low as hell, and for you tokers, it and Denver appear to be the only place where dispensaries are located. I don't time (I will again before I die, I'm certain) but I would be proud to live in a town that offers such a freedom. I wouldn't have wanted to live in religious Colorado Springs anyway... the problem with Pueblo is that it gets an F for crime on this http://www.areavibes.com site. Has a high rate of rapes, apparently.. ?? But folks say just stay out of the Eastside and its fine. 300 average days of sunshine.
But yeah, despite some speedbumps, we are on our way soon. I am today working on getting rid of all the stuff we haven't sold, donated or trashed. Then beers with my homie tonight, and perhaps tomorrow I'll clean up for the security deposit's sake. Gotta get some break pads on the Ford and that's it.
Wish me luck, killas. I was going to say that I'm procrastinating by being on the internet, but this is the FLH Forum muhfuckas! This joint ain't never procrasrinating"!

I'm sorry to go on a mini rant, but HEY! I know the Mrs. almost died, but how about I rape her fucking credit score because of the medical bills. -.-

move to Canada where medical bills are a figment of the imagination.
and pot's been decriminalized here for like 10 years.
you can get a prescription for weed here and can literally go get free bags of weed with that prescription but its gotta be something serious not bullshit like your back hurts or you cant sleep.
I'll pass. I'd be too close to slow, dense fucks like you and then I'd have to kill you and drag you under a semi for a couple hundred miles to grind your face off Keith Jesperson style.
