Neuroscience research reveals a key fact: the activation patterns of emotional response areas in the human brain are highly similar when facing AI and real people. Sexologist Sofie Roos, after analyzing a large amount of clinical data, pointed out that “the brain does not make a clear distinction between real and simulated stimuli.” Research from Aalto University in Finland also confirms that, from an evolutionary perspective, the human brain is naturally inclined to respond positively to social recognition, and the nervous system often cannot distinguish between simulated and real emotions. This means that when users establish an emotional connection with AI sex dolls, the brain chemicals associated with attachment, trust, and intimacy—oxytocin and dopamine—are indeed being secreted. The emotions are real, but the object is fictional.
