@Cabracan Getting rid of facebook 5-6 years ago was one of the best decisions of my life. Some posts not even meant for me i took as a personal attack, 150 friends i didnt really need that i never hung out with, and a lot of added drama. Fuck all that noise! So i deleted me… People that matter, have my number and can reach me directly. I miss out on random family shit but again, if i or it were that important they would let me know directly. Do i get lonely and bored sometimes? You bet your ass! But its a lot better than getting pissed at shit that wasnt meant for you, or was meant for you from an ass that you dont give two shits about. Much love homie

If you experience a lot of drama on social media then chances are it’s probably your fault. The only problem I have is the fake ass bullshit sheepish idiots love to post. But I let them do their thing. People are stupid and hardly think for themselves and I knew that prior to facebook.

He’s a troll. It’s obvious. He’s probably going out of his way to say things to offend people.

Social freakin’ media. Here’s my quick example experience.

Around 2012 or so, I had a huge falling out with my oldest friends. Turns out they weren’t really friends, is all I should say. You don’t want to know the embarrassingly wack levels to which they stooped. Either way, it was a sudden and scarring event, as much as I’d like to downplay it. Kicking them out of my life was easy, but the events before it were some of the wackest. This real life drama didn’t have anything to do with social media, but I soon grew to despise how much my online people knew about the whole dramatics. I’m honestly pretty open about life in person, so I guess my online “persona” was as much of a match as could be, but I Felt like I was giving my online sphere way too much free entertainment. I made a note of my departure from Facebook on a post, and lots of gals were wanting me to stay, which boosted my ego temporarily. But alas, I left the program. For over one and a half years. Lived life again. 

I didn’t miss it. But one strange consequence was that barely anyone that I called or even texted in the downtime, barely any of them would answer their phone or get ahold of me. I usually post an annual party on FB every July or August, and the usual crew comes through and we have a blast. That year, without FB event inviting, we had our lowest turnout ever. 

I’ve deduced that much of the same people who we grew up with, the same ones that we used to talk on the phone with for hours, have become almost completely reliant on Facebook for communication. How do I know this? Well the next year I announced my annual party again, and the party count was back up. People responded more on social media than in life.

Not sure what it means, just thought the example might lend you some forethought. 

I’m about to get rid of my own Facebook again for awhile soon. Everyone needs a break from pseudo-reality. Or we may fall in too deep.

I believe that about the internet also. If it wasn’t for the internet, I never would’ve experienced so many things. I learned how to cultivate psilocybin back in 1998, and for a decade had the most beautiful and noteworthy times from that. I could write a book lol.. also, we met people we otherwise wouldn’t have. 

And say what you will about Craigslist, but I owe that website a good deal of my good fortune. I found places to live, jobs.

That being compared to the bits of dramatics that the un-matured have dealt me, is way more positivity.

The only reason I still have a facebook is to keep in contact with relatives who I love dearly, but we don’t get to see each other too often. Other than that, I try to avoid the bullshit. I look at it this way, there’s so much staleness in the world, why should I add to it?

If I do see something that really bothers me, I’ll just ask like in a friendly way “why do you say that?” or something to that effect, just to try and put myself in their shoes and instead of attack, listen to what their deal is. It’s like 50/50 tho, some ppl don’t wanna be real and just wanna be dicks, but when you do reach someone it’s magical. Of course, you don’t have to agree with them, but just getting them to drop the flaming arrows and talk to you is amazing.

anyboobs, I did have this happen to me where I was chatting w/ some homies on a pro-life group and some girl was very VERY angry. Like “kill all your kids” type angry. she got a lot of heat but I was like “why are you so angry? How would your mom feel if she heard you say that? wouldn’t it break her heart?” because I know if my parents heard that they would be very sad as well. She actually opened up to me and talked about how shitty her life was and how she wanted to die…so that anger translated into her being wayyy beyond pro-choice (hey, I don’t judge but I am pro-life as I was adopted and I’m so glad my birth mom didn’t kill me). We ended the conversation with her feeling much better about herself and saying “thanks for listening”.

so tl;dr some ppl are dicks online because they just want someone to listen to them…so they start shooting flaming fucking arrows hoping to get attention- good and bad!
