This thread is inspired a lot by Violent J and his recent announcement of his heart condition.
I have also been considering my mortality. I have been wracked with lots of uniquely wretched illnesses through the years. Some brought me close to death, and the recent one is no different in that respect.
Basically I could go at any moment, so I'm hoping to hop to Canada at some point for an MRI and full physical. If not, I have to request some information from yall!
How does one go about writing out a will? Is life insurance worth it for your family? And have any of you had any experiences with terminal illnesses or conditions?
Much, much love.

I had a pulmonary embolism twice almost died twice
I also think of this I am 40 years old I smoke a pack and a half a day and drink like a fish I've been drinking no less than 10 beers a night for about 10 years
on blood thinners, high blood pressure meds, cholesterol meds, and diabetes meds
seen my family doctor a few weeks ago and she said I was in pretty good health the best I have been in years but she wants me to get an ultrasound on my liver and I've been pushing it off.
no clue about life insurance but I think that only pays out well if you are healthy and end up dying or you die at work or by some freak accident
as for a will you need to see a notary they can draw it up for you and then execute it if you pass, but you probably won't need one unless you have a big net worth and want certain things to go to certain people
my grandfather had a big net worth and no will so it went like this my grandmother got 50% and my father and uncle both got 25% and I would have gotten 50% of my father's 25% but my father and uncle just signed over their shares to my grandmother so I got shit.
hope that somewhat helps

The truth about these lyrics is humbling and bittersweet. Yep, we are all going to die and everyone knows it.
Yet when I cry out into the world, it seems as if no one wants to try and share a moment. Try to defy it for a bit. The inevitability.
People will be sad you're gone. I've experienced it on the surviving end. I've also experienced situations where almost no one.. or even NO ONE AT ALL.. will mourn you. An old school homie of ours, who sucked in most ways, died last year of an overdose. He had fucked so many people over than no one cried a tear. Most of us had already mourned him before he died, as the person he once was. I was out of state, but my mom and a couple homies attended his funeral. They said it was the most pathetic one ever. My mom, a very shy woman, got up to do an impromptu speech, just because no one else would.
They always say "think of the people that will miss you if you go". And that is so, so true and important. However, often... not as many care as we would like to hope.
"Time for the world to keep spinnin around, even with you dead in the ground, motherfucker!" - Violent J from "The Witching Hour".

Everyone's gonna die. And you never know when it'll happen. Your house could catch on fire tonight. You can catch a stray bullet. Heart attack or stroke or some shit.
May as well live like any day could be your last cause it might be.

Precisely. That's why it always confounds me when I say this and it seems like no one wants to share the reality experience of it. It is very odd.

The Basketball Diaries has a scene that made me recoil in horror more than any other movie. Where dude is selling himself to that creep in the bathroom stall.
That was just found footage of Leo auditioning for the role, silly:
