Hey y’all.
I’m writing a DIY ‘zine called “Dedicated to the Butterfly: Juggalo/ette Prisoner Support”. The basic idea is that there’s a lot of juggalos in prison and they don’t have a lot of support from the outside world. Because of this I’ve decided to borrow a couple of tactics from other subcultures, tactics like letter writing to prisoners. However, these other subcultures make it easy to write prisoners because they compile information on them like where they are and what address you can write to them. I’m having trouble finding that same sort of information available for juggalos, but I’d like to get it, to 1) write to them myself to ask if they’d like to be included in my zine and 2) circulate that information in the juggalo community.
As I’m sure a lot of you are aware, juggalos face a lot of discrimination in the court system and prison system, a lot of which has to do with being labeled a gang member. Prison is hard enough, but this heightened harassment adds a whole ‘nother layer to the shittiness of being in prison/jail. Writing letters to prisoners is crucial to their continued survival and mental well being. Please help me with this endeavor if you can.
So I guess what I’m asking for is this: do you know of any juggalos or juggalettes in prison? If you do and you think they’d benefit from receiving letters from their juggalo homies, please email me at [email protected] or send me a private message on here.
Thanks y’all, MMFWCL,
getXserious

This idea is filled with good intentions, but i do not pity anyone in prision.
Im assuming your talking about long term sentences, since short stints can be manageable.
Im a believer in if you cant do the time, then dont do the crime. If you are in for an extended stay, then you had to have done something shady or despicable and you must learn your lesson.
Prision is supposed to be a place where you think of what you have done. Prisioners get too many luxuries, that which gives criminals the mentality of not caring if they go back, which isnt how it should be. You should be afraid to go to jail and learn how to perform the illusion of blending in with society

I could write an essay to argue, but I don’t want to do that, I just want to explain myself. Let me refute a couple of things though: prisons don’t exist for “criminals” to reform and rehabilitate. Prison doesn’t work, simple as that. Most prisoners end up back in prison because they can’t readjust to society afterwards. Did you know the US has the largest prisoner population in the world? And that population has climbed out of control in the last two decades with no end in sight. Shouldn’t we have less prisoners if prison worked? Especially for people who’ve committed nonviolent drug offenses?
48.6 percent of people in federal prisons are there on drug related charges, many of these are minor possession offenses. Many for marijuana.
The prison industry is also a huge racket, motivated by corporate sponsors who force prisoners to labor for less than a dollar a day. Here’s a list of companies who benefit and profit from with the prison industry: Whole Foods, McDonalds, Wendy’s, Walmart, Starbucks, Sprint, Verizon, JC Penny, American Airlines, etc. etc. The point is that those are a lot of big names, and it’s in their best interest to keep people in prison doing what amounts to modern day slave labor. And let’s not forget about private prisons, the places that definitely have a vested interest in keeping a high inmate population because they are literally making money off of it. Private prison stocks have jumped through the fucking roof since Trump got elected because the Obama administration had started putting federal regulations on them but with Trump they’re building them faster than ever, mostly to house detained immigrants and refugees after ICE raids.
I do want to say though, that if your issue is that you don’t want to be writing people in prison that may have done some heinous shit, then don’t. I’m not telling you to go out and start writing Charles Manson (although that would be interesting…), I’m telling you to find someone in prison, a member of the juggalo family, and start up a conversation with them. Besides, this isn’t a charity service, we have just as much to gain from these conversations as they do. They’re our fam, deserving of clown love behind bars or not.

I wish you well in your venture, however please consider this 2015 report from the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Statistics:
“Almost all (99.5%) drug offenders in federal prison were serving sentences for drug trafficking.”

I am curious as to what the legal definition of drug trafficking is.

Since you dont know me and you didnt ask, im not gonna rip you a new asshole. I do know all about the corrupt politics behind what prisons really do to an individuals life and so on. I know people get wrongly accused and/or the crime they commit doesnt deserve them to be put into that system. All i was saying that yiu as an adult should know right from wrong and if you decide to go down that path i cant help you, sorry.
I personally have/had a friend who is doing 28 years for killing someone over a quarter pound, i severed all connections even tho he has tried to reach out to me multiple times. I know there is no hope for him and im not gonna let him knock me off the path ive taken.
Ya i feel bad for the ones wit minor offenses but thats not gonna fuck their lifes up too bad tho.
Sorry this was a quick post that got interrupted, ill respond more when i get the chance

The issue with that is you’re equating legal/illegal with right/wrong. It doesn’t always work that way. You already mentioned the wrongly accused so no need for me to say shit about that one.

See, herein lies the problem. The US prison system focuses on PUNISHMENT, rather than REHABILITATION.
I don’t have a study to cite, but I have a feeling the OVERWHELMING majority of people who went to prison absolutely care if they go back.
The issue here is we take these human beings, stick them in a cage for X amount of years with little to no means to gain any sort of education or job skills, let alone skills to help them integrate into society, then we throw them back into the same situation and context that got them sent to prison in the first place.
On top of that, even if they want to keep on the straight and narrow, they now have the fun bonus of having a felony on their record, which means employers are considerably less likely to hire them. So not only are they in the same circumstances that get them in prison in the first place, but they also have even more limited means of generating a legal income.
Did you know the U. S., land of the free, has the largest prison population in the world? Did you know that, besides Seychelles, the US has the highest per capita incarceration rate in the world?
I am sure that secret prisons and extrajudicial killings in other countries help keep their numbers lower, but personally I think that is an infuriating statistic.
Imagine how fucked you are in today’s society if you have been in prison for the last 25 years. The internet was barely a thing and we still primarily used land lines. Try adjusting to all of those changes without shit or anyone to help you.
Sorry for the rant.

And i wouldnt want it any other way, even tho i will never get locked up for a felony. I believe one should earn their own shit and not look for handouts. Scratching someones back is a different story, along side a barter situation.
Second off my plan to stir shit up worked, i know i could of worded shit differently but invoking peoples defensive side would make this thread more interesting than another one page thread.
I will hopefully make my full response to the ones i offended, maybe. I have to wait till i get to a computer since its easier to “quote” and im also afraid of the page timing out and my post getting lost forever…kinda what chesyr experiences all the time.
Fyi i have already said i know the bullshit involved with being incarcerated implies, but for most people rehabilitation doesnt work or wouldnt work. Felons should all be sent to an island where they can start their own society, and even purge if they want, idc. Basically just like the movie escape from new york or l.a. Doing stupid shit that can give one a felony proves that your not capable of functioning in a civil society.

It works in other countries. I’m sure there ARE people who are beyond rehabilitation, but it’s not like we’ve ever really tried to rehabilitate them anyway.
I COULD cite statistics from countries like Norway, but I’m not going to. Norway is a small, homogenous country, so it isn’t fair to compare them, but I honestly think the U.S. can do better than the 76.6% recidivism rate we are sitting at right now. At least give people a chance to get their shit together, ya know?

Shit, man, get to a computer. This is the one interesting topic on here as of late that doesn’t involve drama and/or Trump.

Its the nonviolent drug offenders that gets to me. These people can be rehabilitated. Not everyone deserves rehabilitation though. Some mother fuckers will never change and deserve to rot.
Sometime in the future we are going to be able to rewire the brain. Thats the only way pedos and serial killers will ever be rehabilitated. Some people are just broken.
Our system is broken too though. No arguing there. Its so hard to get out of the system once you get in there because felons cant get jobs. They almost have to go back to doing crime. Almost. We make our own decisions.
The first thing you gotta do when you find yourself in a hole? Stop digging.

Speaking of trump, i came up with a catch phrase to describe his legacy thus far…#Vachina. Its a play off of “grab em by the pussy” and the way he says the word china
