So it’s that time of the year when me and the wife adopt a couple of families for Christmas. This year so far has been crazy as she chose two single moms.  One has five kids and her ex husband who abused her their whole marriage is now in prison. Being as she just got a job and had to pay first and last months rent on a new place up front things were looking very bleak for Christmas for these kids.

The second family we adopted was also a single mother with two kids.  Pretty typical situation here she fell for the wrong guys and they are not in the picture,  she receives no child support as both are dead beats in and out of jail for failure to pay and drugs. One is only two months old and she admitted to us she has no long sleeve clothes for him.  She currently works two part time jobs one of which is seasonal.

Anyways.  We try and do this every year.  Not really because we feel obligated but simply because we enjoy helping others when we can. I think my wife bit off more then she could chew this year but it is for the kids so we are definitely busting our asses to make sure these families have a wonderful Christmas.

For the point of this thread.  Please remember those in need this time of year. Hell remember those in need year round. Be charitable when you can it has nothing to do with religion,  being a Juggalo or obligation.  It has everything to do with just trying to be a good person.  If you don’t have money that’s fine give your time lots of charities need manpower.

If everyone did a little something the world would be a much better place.

Would that I had money or time.  I tend to throw extra change from transactions towards March of dimes or Kosair charities throughout the year. Those bastards stand in the road also and get you there. I have a guilty conscious as it is so they always squeeze a few bucks out.

I donate a few times a year to St. Jude and the ASPCA. 20 bucks here and there when I can spare it. I actually think that would be an ideal job for me, taking care of abandoned and abused animals.

That would be a cool job.  I grew up with pets so having them has always been a part of my life.

For over 2-1/2 years, my family was just living on my paycheck, so this wasn’t really an option for us.  She was in school and it’s paying off as she’s flourishing in her new career.

Back to the point though, this wasn’t really an option for us while she wasn’t working.  Just last weekend, I told her that I thought that we should adopt a family.  She went and picked one out from a tree at a local restaurant.  It was a father and 3 children.  We just assumed he was a single dad.  So we went and dropped like 300 bucks between all of them.  We went back to drop off our bags of gifts, and there she was.  Mom was sitting there all alone.  I’m not sure if my wife just missed her, or if they added more people after she grabbed the family we bought for.  So I said fuck it, grabbed her name, and we went to get her another hundred bucks worth of stuff.

I hope it helps their family create some good memories over the holidays.  We probably spent more on their family this year than we did on our own.

Bro,  that was cool for you guys to do. I am sure you made their holiday into one they will remember forever.

I love to bullshit around on here and give people hell it helps me escape reality but when it comes down to it I believe in compassion and doing charitable works.  I know how hard it is to just survive nowadays much less provide fun things for an entire family. Someone has to care but caring is a burden it tears you apart to care because you wish you could help them all. From the bottom of my heart homie so much love sent your way for making a sacrifice to help others.

Unfortunately for us we’re taking it paycheck to paycheck this year. (I couldn’t even go in on the secret Santa this year at work because I can’t afford the extra $15). Shit gets tough with a kid and bills and a vehicle and only 1 income.
I used to donate my time every Christmas Eve, wake up at 5:00am and help my cousins with the local canned good drive. Now that I’m working I can’t really do that either but I’m hoping that there is an opportunity that will open up somewhere.
Actually, I just donated a bunch of my daughter’s toys that she doesn’t play with to this display thing people are making so there’s that.
People like you make me feel good, Nyro and Scottie. Although I can’t spend like I used to (or even at all) it makes me feel good knowing that some people are being taken care of and are going to have a wonderful Christmas simply because some folks found it in their hearts to help out.
