Planning on upgrading all of my everything re: my website and shit, and I need a computer that can handle fairly intensive video editing and also live streaming with multiple HD sources. I’m probably what you’d call moderately tech savvy, but I’m not an expert. Does this look good?

Intel quad core i5 processor, 8gb DDR3 RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 730 GPU. Thoughts?

The desktop I use now is like 8 years old, and idk what the specs are on it but I know that it has a heart attack every time I try to use Photoshop and Premiere at the same time. And using After Effects is borderline impossible. So, you know, not ideal for maintaining a multimedia based website.

looks nice.  i love how they take time out to explain in great detail:

SuperMulti DVD Burner(An optical disk drive (ODD) uses a laser light to read data from or write data to an optical disc. These discs include CDs, DVDs, and Blu-ray Discs. This allows you to play music or watch movies using prerecorded discs. DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, CD-R, CD-RW),

cuz people wouldnt know that shit.

I talked to a buddy a couple years back and he said he could build one for a lot cheaper and better than a very decent one at best buy. Next time we upgrade thats the route im gonna go. I trust the kid, hes an IT guy at a large computer based company.

We bought one from best buy and told them what we wanted to use it for and its not cutting it. Paid well over $1000 and it wont draw or program large parts like i need it to.

Some gaming pc’s on craigslist arent priced too bad and their supposed to have better processor speeds, graphics, and audio. Maybe write some emails and ask questions.

Yeah bitches, im that short gentleman mentioned in that youtube video.

And the very nice, level headed guy from that other youtube video.

For video stuff, your bottlenecks are going to be the CPU and RAM. You definitely want a faster CPU and more RAM.

Really? quadcore i5 isn’t gonna cut it? I could maybe squeeze some more RAM into the budget but I’m not trying to spend $1,000+. Thanks for the tip though, I’ll look into it. Thanks!

Not saying you gotta drop a grand. Just saying we did and it didnt work as well as i had hoped. With inkscape paints if my drawings get too large the computer lags like crazy, same with the cnc programs. If you talk to a builder they may give you options to add a little here take from there and stay in budget with your main objective in mind. If i could save $100 with the dude blowing dust off last years version of windows or turning that into more ram or an upgraded video card its worth it to me.

Kid at work gave me a copy of a mastercam program and says it uses a lot of memory. I knew our old pc wasnt going to cut it. We went to best buy and told them exactly what we were doing and needed it for. He says you want this one and went into all the specs, at which point i zoned out. If you say this is gonna work and i wont have problems consider it sold. It didnt work, well it did but i know what you mean by heart attack.
