Ok so I have no clue if this is the right spot to post this but I am not trying to sell or trade I would just like to ask someone if they know if my diamond cut 2inch silver hatchetman charm is actually the real deal if someone can help! The bail is not the original!

Looks real enough. Is it Sterling? I am having trouble seeing the .925 stamp on it.

If you aren’t selling it, then I say it’s as real as you want it to be.

its not an original. I have an original. the hoop is fixed and not dangling.

also the back is “hollow” not flat like that

I do know they did a 2nd run of diamond cut that had a movable hoop, but i dont know enough about that one to say if what you have is a legit 2nd gen diamond cut charm or not

They used to have the .925 ones at a lot of jewelry stands out here in UT I have kept an eye out now in the past couple years and I don’t see em anywhere and I cant find any decent ones online.

If you mean dangling as in the clasp or bail whatever u call it is not the original it was taken from another chain now the hole on the charm itself that connects to that obviously does not move and i did notice that the gold ones were hollow on the back but couldnt find out if this one was maybe the 2nd ones were flat kind on the back

ahh i got you on the bail. good job getting it back to a wearable state. The fixed bails were notoriously weak and broke easy.

yes. the first gen looked the same on the back as the gold ones so it is a safe bet to say that the one you posted 100% is not an OG diamond cut charm sadly. Again, i dont know about the 2nd DC release they did (i wanna say around 09??)

but its one of the better ones Ive seen so theres that going for it

aha so in reality it prob is a 2nd gen which is still kinda awesome so the bail on the 1st gen didnt move or come off ? And because it is flat on the back with the dimples it could be the 2nd or because of that it all together is a unofficial hatchetman charm

by now, theres probably at least three times as many knockoff charms out there, as ‘officials’.  at least.

i dont see how any of it matters.  all that matters is whether or not you wanna wear it.

  awfully paranoid, arent you?

Well ya of course im gonna wear it hahaha i have seen some piss poor fakes and this one looks decent honestly it probably is not a 2nd gen version due to the fact it has no stamps anywhere on it

i would put money on that being true. And the funny thing is SOME of the knockoffs look better than the official charms

I think think that the first gen DC looked (and felt) the best but you know what they say about opinions

it could be a true 2nd gen diamond cut. I havent seen one in person so i cant say for sure

on the bail yes it was non moveable. this is the 2003 re-release of the gold DC which apparently also had a fixed bail. as you can see its welded on. The first gen would have diamond cut on the bail itself, and a dimpled back where this 03 release has a smooth back and smooth bail

its sad that i know all this…..
