someone just hit me up on fb & shared with me their site that's supposedly a team of ghostwriters for hire who pride themselves on being super lyrical to put it simply.. lookin at their site they claimed ghostwriting is generally good for hip hop cuz a team can make better lyrics than one man can..

now i see where theyre comin from assuming said team is amazing but generally thats not the case.. im sure there's a ton of mainstream cats who have teams & still cant come up with doper shit than certain underground heads.. call me old school but as far as hip hop is concerned having a ghostwriter (let alone a team) is the weakest shit ever.. comin up with something you feel is incredible is an amazing feeling & obviously regurgitating other peoples lyrics is super disingenuous regardless of how accurate it is to you imo... now a chorus with a feature is one thing or even being in a rap group & helping your partner/team is understandable to me.. but idk.. i think what theyre doing is wack & generally not good for the culture.. nonetheless i respect their hustle & cant be mad at em.. still tho...

Delivery is key. If they can make it sound authentic, then idc if they have a ghost writer.

delivery is def a huge part that these dudes seem to be ignoring.. i know from experience it doesnt matter if you have dope lyrics if your delivery is ass no ones gonna wanna hear it.. so just cuz someone buys amazing lyrics from these guys it doesnt mean they'll be able to execute em at all.. so dude would be better off learning to write the shit himself as he improves.. which i feel ive been able to do..

As far as having people help or write lyrics for you, I have no problem.  Taking credit for it or not giving them credit I have issues with.

I know Tech Krizz Makzilla work as a team for some songs, but that is usually just like the concept, chorus, all that shit. It never hurts to have someone to bounce ideas off of. I think ghostwriting is pretty lame though. Only thing worse is Doom having motherfuckers dressed like him perform his concerts.

Ghosts have been hit hard during the recession, anything that gets them jobs I am pro personally.  I am pro ghost writing, ghost, reading, hell ghost landscaping if it gets these ghosts out of the house and back into the workforce.

Less and less people are buying and using ouija boards, that's gotta hurt their feelings.

I don't know if it's bad for hip hop or not, but seriously, it must take forever for the ouija board to spell out all the words. Those things are slow as hell.

They don't have time for Ouija boards anymore they're too busy writing for hip hop moguls.  Little known fact Casper the Friendly Ghost and Swayzee from the movie Ghost both share producers credits on "Reasonable doubt", but Jigga burned them at the last moment.

Nah, I'm not for it AT ALL. The only exception being Dr Dre.

Hiphop is the one genre where I think you should be giving your story, if you cant write, dont rap.

Ghost writing has been a part of rap for ever I think. ghost writing is in all genres of music. the label sees talent but cant see tha individual being the new face of their business so they buy the writer n use their lyrics to help someone else become the face. in hip hop shit sum of the greats wrote some of the greats read. I kno styles p the ghost aint get his name cuz he's a fellow dead man like blaze. styles p ghost written for people since the start of the lox which is one of the ways puff got his money afta bigs death. now not every body tha claims to b a ghost writer really is. like the chump drake tha claim to write for lil wayne even tho lil wayne claimed since at least the 2000's tha he doesn't have to write his " lyrics".

Crystal Skull is gonna be my example of a good album, from a good artist that appears to be mostly ghost written

Lil' Wayne doesn't have a ghost writer, he just steals other people's verses and reuses his own.

Really, I don't like it, because the person who performs it is going to get all of the credit for it, regardless of the credits in the album booklet. Nobody ever praises the song writer.

Apparently J writes 80% of 2 Dope's lyrics. But I'm guessing it has the vibe of Stephen King/Peter Straub co-penning "The Talisman" and "Black House": creative collaboration.

Yo Pigg does Doom really have doppelgangers??
