I’ve struggled with this one for years, being both a violent person at times and pacifistic in others. 

The simplest I can put it is that certain offenders, like child molesters, rapists, torturers, serial killers, the like… if they are proven beyond a shadow of a doubt to be guilty, they should be euthanized and harvested for their organs. 

But there are so many grey areas. Think Shawshank Redemption.

People proven innocent after being behind bars should be given a summons that decrees them tax-free and paid by those that wronged them for life. They should be provided housing and given the option for vengeance by the wrongfully accused.

Drug offenders absolutely, 100% should not be incarcerated in jails. If they steal for drugs? Sure, lock em up. Attack someone for drug money? Whip the shit out of him or her.

If I had to guess (did you not ask him the same question?)the argument there would be that all innocent lives matter. I don’t agree. None of our lives matter on the grand scheme of things but that’s probably what the argument would be. For the record, I’m with you on the death penalty. Fuck that shit. Even removing morality from the equation, it just doesn’t work or help. 

Ignoring the pessimistic asshole in me, and regarding the title of the thread, I don’t think it’s an intentional way to silence black lives matter. It’s just a knee jerk reaction type of group. Not really malicious so much as “hey! Look at me! ME! ME!” douchebaggery. Of course there are shitty people in the #alllivesmatter movement but I think if you look at it from an unbiased perspective you’ll find that there’s an equal, if not higher, number of shitty people in the #blacklivesmatter movement. 

Also, man, I want this thread to work out because it’s a subject that I really don’t want to be wrong on. If I’m wrong I want to know I’m wrong but…I don’t see this ending well. I can hear mother fuckers image searching useless ass memes and unsourced videos on youtube as I type.

The part that bothers me is that both sides are now actin like segregation is a good thing. Most aren’t coming right out and sayin it but it’s definitely there. Black lives matter are all but sayin “kill whitey” and all lives matter are all but sayin “black people need wiped out” but neither one is taking responsibility when the fringe groups within the groups take action on it. 

It blows my mind how often I find myself wondering how we forgot that breaking people up by race is bad. 

Did you see the shit where students made a human wall and refused to let white people cross it? Like, they actively stopped a group of people from getting from point A to point B, based off of their race alone.

Your life matters until you decide to take one away. Too much gray area here but in general I’m all for the death penalty where it applies.

In fact I think we should bring back public executions.

Yall ever think about how pointless race is? Who cares if my ancestors lived further away from the equator than someone elses? It means absolutely nothing, but I am strapped with all the baggage that comes with things that people with pale skin have done.

Not to this dude. Holy shit. He ranted about how the death penalty is a deterrent for crime, and that life in prison costs tax payers money, and that some people deserve to die.

Many people have noted that “#alllivesmatter” didn’t exist until after “#blacklivesmatter”  was making the rounds. It was a response to BLM, no question, but people who say it will tell you that it is about lifting up “all lives” as opposed to a sub section of all.

Some things we know about the death penalty:

It actually costs more in California to end a life than to keep people in prison for life because we have a very thorough appeals system. 

Many people are exonerated after being sentenced to death. Since 1973, 151 people were found innocent while awaiting their death sentence. Many others are found innocent after they are killed. And even more are believed to be innocent but are unable to prove it.

It clearly doesn’t work as a deterrent or else violent crime would be a thing of the past.

The people most likely to defend the death penalty are often conservative white men, the same people most likely to talk about all lives matter.

So which is it? How can you justify the government being allowed to kill citizens and say all lives matter?  

I didn’t know you volunteered for that type of thing! That’s so awesome. I totally agree that the death penalty has no place in this day and age, and for me a large reason for that is because of the countless innocent people who are sitting in prison right now. Between forced confessions, faulty eyewitness testimony, and biased forensics experts, I don’t understand how anyone could go as far as to condemn someone to death.
